Me and one of my friends decided to join the SRK discord as we are both avid fighting gamers and wanted to converse with other gamers. Upon my entry, I was greeted with the usual FGC trash talk. Didn’t think much of it, and was told that I’d have to put up with it. I was a tad intimidated so I left for a day to solidify whether I wanted to be in the server(it’s a freaking public discord server for a public forum, shouldn’t be that big of deal). I join with my friend and we are greeted with a barrage of racial slurs and “where all these new people coming from?” After a bit of trash talk, we get dragged into a SFA3 match(which I failed miserably in) and after a bit of my friend’s trash talk(which keep in mind mods said was perfectly allowed) my friend gets IP banned and I get kicked. Upon rejoining, I promptly also get IP banned. I know it’s April first and we will see if the ban is lifted tomorrow, but this is an abuse of power. We should not be banned just for joining a server whose link is clearly posted in the forums for all to see. I don’t know how affiliated the “official” discord is with the forums, but the amount of hostility towards newcomers is off the charts. And people wonder why the fgc is so small compared to other gaming genres.

And also, define “your kind”. You telling me SRK isn’t a fighting game forum? It’s not a “public” chatroom for people to enjoy being gamers. Trash talk is fine, but flat out banning people with the sole reason being “lel, too soft” is not ok in any server.
Because you acted like a newcomer lol. You legit made yourself a target. It’s a SRK Discord, yes, but you were in the GD Lounge channel. People go there to talk about random stuff, chill, and fuck around. Everyone in there has also known each other for years. You can post in other channels or get to know people in the Lounge first.
What you’re doing right now… All you accomplished was guaranteeing that no one ever fucks with you.
There’s a difference between being weak and being abused. This sounds like a case of abuse. I’m all for smack talk, but when someone gets butthurt enough to ban you for kicking their ass too hard, something needs to change.

The regulars get kicked or banned all the time. Then they come back later like nothing happened. The problem is they took it personal after acting suspect from the beginning.
The last I saw of this guy, he said the Discord wasn’t for him and that he was leaving. That was before any kind of kicks or bans happened. Now we’re somehow here. Seems like a case of attention whoring to me.

I usually hate a bunch of attention, but being new to this side of srk, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. There is no real point in arguing about it I guess. I just gotta respect that different fgcs have different ways of handling things. I had no idea the lounge channel was not to be touched. In fact, I had no clue that you guys really didn’t want me back. Looking at it from that point of view, I can see where you are coming from. I’ll find different discords to chat in and I’ll stick around the website just for the tech talk board. You guys have yourselves a good day, and I’m gratefully sorry for any trouble I caused.

With that out of the way, @“Phantom Angel”, how does one go about getting unbanned then? You mentioned people are banned/kicked all the time. Is it a thing that happens over time or do you have to request it? Serious question.
