If im going to be using this w/ ae2 and will be using the wire harnesses, what will I need to add to my pwm, if anything?
I need to know this as well. I want to use the wire harnesses… so I should not buy the one with screw downs, correct?
We won’t have to assemble or solder anything, right???
you should probably let 32teeth know that you want headers instead of screw terminals…
i typically don’t like providing pin headers as there are too many options that the customer may want for their specific application.
there are short, long, right angle and so on.
if you are unsure of your application requirements and want screwdowns just in case. when you order the Sparky Jr, and check off the screwdowns option, in your paypal ‘note to seller’ simply ask to not have the screw downs soldered, but included.
i have shipped a few like this, just tell me which ones you want soldered and which ones not.
example form clients:
“don’t solder the output and rgb screwdowns, don’t need the reset screwdown, mount input”
“please include the screw downs, not soldered”
…
if there is any confusion in the ‘note to seller’ text, i will simply email you directly and ask.
hope that helps
Lovely… I need to check this out sometime
do you have some sparky’s instock 32teeth? finally got that refund so i have “some” play money XP
Fair enough… If anyone must have pin headers for plug and play and cannot solder it themselves to save their lives, and wants to combine shipping with ArcEye2 (when its ready for sale), i might be able to help you…
because otherwise arceye2 will come with dual female headers, and you’ll have to cut/strip the wires that go to sparky if you get screw terminals
true, i can be of assistance here to. but i would only carry right angle male headers. and only soldered from the bottom.
thoughts?
Dude, soldering scares the shit out of me. Please make pre-soldered sparkiez available … cuz that’s true PnP BALLER STATUS!!
Screw terminals are by default soldered unless otherwise stated in the paypal 'note to seller’
Header will be soldered. The option will soon be up on the site.
I’m getting Sparky for my TE, but I also want to install it in my Hori VLX.
Here is a pic of the VLX’s PCB:

Total n00b question, but…
It’s my understanding that Sparky needs to connect to power and ground in order to be able to provide that power to the LEDs and switch them on and off, and it needs to connect to the buttons in order to “listen” to them… so my question is… since Teasy Strike isn’t compaitble with my Hori VLX, is there an easy alternate solution for this? I know purps is designing something similar for TE-S/PS3 sticks… but is there anything I can do or can you guys design an adapter for all us non-TE owners as well??
Thanks!
Yes and no.
Yes because.
The Sparky needs VCC/GND from the main board in order to simply run it’s code and functionality. It is after all a peice of electrical equipment.
No because.
The code on the chip takes care of who is on and what color, and who is off and what color.
The output lines connected to the common connector on the ArcEye gets turned on an off to activate the signal.
The RGB daisy chain line sends out the color to show.
Yes, this is correct. Easiest method if you are not comfortable / not willing to butcher your mainboard is to solder a second wire to the signal wire of the button switch itself (the wire that goes to the mainboard). This second wire will connect into the screw terminal inputs of the Sparky boards
There isn’t currently a universal adaptor. but the Sparky can be installed in anything you want.
Sparky + PS360

Sparky + XBOX360 + ChImp + Wii

Sparky + Paewong Revolution

My ultimate recommendation is plan your build, plan your wires, plan your setup!!!
Lay everything out before cutting / soldering / throwing
Draw a picture.
Write down how everything was.
I cannot stress this enough.
Build yourself a task list / roadmap of things to do in small manageable chunks.
Don’t underestimate your skillset and ability to learn.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
You are most welcome. We try to support as much as possible where we can.
Hey,
the case with your mods looks great. Hope you enjoyed assembling the project fatality case.
I learned alot building a plexi case. Like don’t drop any pieces LOL. And fingerprints suck. Next one i go for will be smoke colored
Wow, this is amazing stuff, the independent button color thing sounds great for games like guilty gear, blazblue, mvc3 etc ^^ can you program a guilty gear burst color scheme (3buttons out of 4) or a blazblue burst (all 4 buttons)/throw (B+C) ?
Sorry, I just read the first pages so I prolly don’t know the full extend of what the Sparky PWM can do, I was also wondering if you can store more than one configuration at once (so without plugging the stick to a computer and change it manually) and switch between them by holding a set of buttons to cycle through configurations (different like “virtual banks” (banks in the asm sens of the word)) for different games like SFIV, Blazblue, soul calibur etc or maybe that can some how be added in an upcoming version of the sparky?
anyways, kudos to you for making such a great product ^^
March 21st
Hey Sparky’s.
First off, thanks everyone for your business, work and ongoing support of the Sparky line of products.
I am putting out an early Roll Call for Volunteers. There will shortly be a webform on the sparky site as well.
Here’s the deal.
We (my home life family) are shortly (May) expecting our second child - Round 2 from here in.
That being said, i will be required to take some downtime to help out at home, and will need some help running things for the Sparky end of stuff. Code, updates, blah blah blah.
Shoot me email here Sparky - RGB LED Controller and let me know if you want to help out.
Thanks kindly in advace. @purplearms… …i’m looking at you
Just purchased 4 more boards sir. Plan to use them for my project…havent made a name for it yet but i will keep you posted. congrats again on the baby sir
Yep it’s our second. Thanks, saw your order, will get my robots to ship it out
Congrats there buddy. I’ll get my order in before the little bundle of joy hits
