I play on PS3 and bought a MadCatz SF4 pad back around March or April. I think the fact that the PS3 version of the pad is wireless causes problems. My pad was glitching and registering button presses that I never actually pressed. It wasn’t all the time, but common enough to be frustrating. It was even making me jump sometimes when I was just sitting there crouching, or not touching the d-pad at all.
I would have sent it to MadCatz to be repaired or replaced, but I bought it on eBay (back when it was sold out everywhere else) so they wouldn’t honor the warranty. The pad was factory sealed when I got it so it wasn’t like I was buying some used broken shit or something.
So, really, I only use a Saturn pad now because it’s basically the only easy-to-find pad with 6 face buttons that works on PS3, and it’s hella cheap, too. (I got mine on eBay for $15 + free shipping.) The d-pad is pretty good, but I think the MadCatz floating d-pad is a bit better.
ive got 4 of the official saturn usb pads in reserve… ive got my play sega and the first usb saturn pad i ordered to use currently. i havent used the play sega one enough to say its broken yet, but it sucks that they used bootlegs… this makes me think that they will just somehow find a way to fuckup their little “project needlemouse” sonic game… even though i bought 3 of the controllers, i gave 2 of em out as gifts.
i’d still like to try out one of the madcatz pads, but it’s not something im willing to spend 40$ on.
Hi, I’m new around here. I have a doubt. I’ve read in this thread SLS Saturn Control Pad (as in here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120424604587&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:US:1123) supports Windows 7. But when I asked litianedup they told me i’s not supported. Then I referred to this thread, concluding that the box doesn’t state W7 is supported but the controller works through Plug & Play drivers. But again, they told me they’re certain it won’t work.
So the question is: who’s to believe? Shall I say good bye to this controller because I’m using W7? Are they wrong believing it won’t work? Could you suggest me another good option in the same price range?
I used my pad on windows 7 with no issues. Windows 7 is practically brand new and these pads aren’t exactly a recent development. There won’t be any labels or anything on them that say “Windows 7” anywhere but they work. So far I’ve tested mine with mugen and I’m about to try some PSX with it (no roms, I own the games and a PS3, don’t be tempted to pirate stuff).
I found 2 sellers (litianedup and litianedup_wifi) selling packs of 2 saturn usb pads. They seem to be the same, but the description on litianedup_wifi’s page is more convincing, and expressive of the genuineness of the pads:
I’ve got one sitting here that I doubt I’ll use again. I just upgraded to a dual mod stick (did it myself woo!). If anyone needs a guaranteed legit one let me know.
