Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

I just said Tekken and A3. Darkstalkers, also.

CPS2, MVS for the win…

 Hallelujah! Testify!!

3.80 M33-5 released!

Get it from http://www.dark-alex.org/ or via network update while on 3.80 M33-x…

wat games are you guys playing now?

I was playing Crisis Core but it’s just too much Japanese. So I put it down and am just waiting for the western release. Haven’t been playing with much else other than random home brew applications…

Edit: Back on to Crisis Core, I really do want to finish this game in Japanese though. I want to at least once experience both the eastern and western versions of an RPG. My main reason is to see the difference in the voice overs as I really like the Japanese voices. Will be interesting to see what direction they take with the english cast…

i started playing ff9 but stopped. was starting to get kinda boring. I think i might start Legend Of the Dragoon now.

Yeah, as nice as IX was, it was rather dull. It’s a shame because I really liked the art work in that game, but the system sucked ass.

its funny cause i got up to the third disc and just lost interest in it.

Just got my PSP but dont have alot of money right now. I got the Daxter pack with the memory stick so I need suggestions for one more cheap game that is good please.

Har dee har har.

What the hell would a sticker do to cure the pad? There’s a multitude of problems with it aside from not being able to hit a diagonal.

I’d say Crush. Its good and cheap. There’s a few games that are cheap now that are great. Tekken is greatest hits now. Metal Gear Portable Ops (the first one, not plus).

The main problem is the unresponsiveness of hitting diagonals. You can either do what he said or do the other ufighterx mod, which is to get some firm paper (material like a playing card), cut it into a cross using the template on the ufighterx site, then opening your psp and hot gluing or taping the material to the underside of the d-pad. I’ve done this, and it helps. But it is kind of a pain.

On a personal note, I need help converting a PSX game to PSP format. Do you still need the Hot Shots Golf 2 Eboot? I’ve tried it that way and it didn’t work. I’ve also tried a few different programs and none of them work. Can someone be awesome and walk me through the process? I’ve tried it on Vista before, then I found out it doesn’t work well with Vista, so I tried on an XP machine and I still have problems.

I’m using 3.72 M33-2 right now, and I’ve been playing Vagrant Story (I d/l’d it in PSP format), but I’m trying to get both FF VIII and Dragon Warrior VII to work. I have both iso’s of the games on my PC, and the original discs, if that helps. Please let me know, thanks.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

dood, u want cheap and good??

Exit! u can get that muthasucka for $8 at Frys, and the game is fantastic!

also the Metal Gear Acid series, both can be obtained for less than $15,

Acid 1 had a better story imo, but Acid 2 had an incredible style and LOTS of extra shyt in it (like 3D gravure model videos)

Get Dracula X.

Got a question here;
I looked through the first page of this thread, and could not find the answer I’m looking for, any help would be appreciated.

I currently have a fat PSP, and I’m considering trading it in for a slim one if it helps my plight any.

Can anyone attest to how the D-pad is on the slim as it relates to Darkstalkers and A3? I think both are great conversions, but it’s a damn shame the fat PSP’s D-pad sucks ass by almost never registering diagonals. Does the slim suffer from the same D-pad issues on these games?

I’m not concerned with custom FW’s, homebrew, etc. I just want to be able to play my DS and A3 on the go…

Slim d-pad = perfect.

So here’s something I have been thinking about; what is the possibilty of a PS2 emulator for PSP? Looking at the graphics capabiltites for Crisis Core, Birth by Sleep, and Dissidia make me believe that it may be possible. Although, I can imagine the lack of ram would make it slow.
Is there one in development, or is it really just a pipe dream?

makes me want to get a slim because of it. playing mvc on the cps emulator was a pain in the ass. hopefully there will be a package with either ff crisis core or star ocean, i’ll definitely get me one. :razzy:

Not a chance in hell. Emulation is different to running directly off hardware. Firstly you have to imitate the other console, taking up tons of CPU. Then you have to run the game, consuming even more CPU. Granted the PSP has stunning graphics (Crisis Core says it all… Honestly!) and imo might just be better than the PS2, but to emulate PS2? Nah, that’s just never going to happen… If Sony were to impliment any kind of PS2 emulator they’d probably just port the game instead, like they’re doing now.
