Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

it doesn’t have to be de-hacked to trade it in does it? humm.

While opinions may vary, I’d say go with the Slim for the extra RAM and faster loading (and TV out and stuff, I guess). It’s supposed to have a nicer d-pad too.

D-pad mod for the Fat can negate the argument of Slim having a better D-pad.

Yes, but the Slim has a better d-pad without even requiring a mod. It is also lighter, has more RAM, has faster loading, and has the TV out thing.

And better battery efficiency. If you’re diving in right now, the Slim is the better deal in the long run. For those that already own PSP Fats or are looking for cheap used PSPs… I don’t think the advantage is so great that you must upgrade to Slim right away… especially since homebrew and accessories tailored for Slim are in development or in short supply.

There’s this one from Madcats. I have the reflective metal version. It’s a clam-like folding metal shell with a flip-down screen that protects the psp screen (and has a clear soft plastic sheet protecting itself) and has 2 magic card slots on the top of the case. The back (the part that covers the umd access folds down and the inner at extends up to rest against the umd door to keep the system upright at like a 75 degree angle for hands-free movie viewing. It’s super-light and sturdy as hell. Judging by the scratches on the case, my psp would be unviewable If I had just been bare-backing it to work in my bag every day without this case. It sells for like 9.99 at gamestop.

Thank you sir. One last question, are the PSP packages like the Daxter and Star Wars ones the slim design like you mentioned? I don’t really care about the designs or the game it comes with, but if it’s the same as the standard slim I’ll probably go with that.

Fuck you, Sep.

=/

Those are slim. I got the Daxter one.

Quick question.

I got Final Fantasy 3 (ff6 psx anthology version) on my psp but the saves don’t load. Is there a workaround for this? I really wanna play it. Thanks.

are you on the slim or the fat psp? if you’re on the fat, i forgot which firmware is the most capable with ff6. i tried playing it on 3.10 (at least thats what i think…its been a while i put that game in), it frozed on me a couple of times.

Fat 3.52m33-4

You have pops loader right? Because you’re going to need it and all it’s corresponding files first. Once you have it all, or assuming you already have it all, delete your current save file. Now when you boot the game, hold R till the pops menu comes up and when it does select 3.03 pops (Note: this wont work without all the files). Now start the game and create a new save file under this setting. When it’s saved, exit from the game and return to the XMB. Go back to your game and hold R again, when the menu comes up this time select the highest one, which should be 3.52 pops. This should do both, hopefully make the save file work and stop the game from crashing.

Demon Dash

When I pick 3.03 pops from the menu the screen just turns black and doesn’t load at all.

Edit: Seems like I’m missing pafmini303.prx.

Hmm, I don’t have it either… Sorry man, never tested it but it’s a method that’s suposed to work with the game. Supposedly you get problems saving the game under anything other than that setting, also it crashes under anything but 3.52. I’ll have a scout around as I have an incomplete prx set also…

I got a set of 3.40 prx files and atleast the game boots now. I’m fighting my way to the first save point to see if it works.

If it doesn’t I’ll just PSARDUMP 3.03 and get a set of that.

Edit: And it doesn’t work with the 3.40 PRX files. Trying 3.03 now.

Edit x2 : Fuck yea! 3.03 Popsloader works!

good to hear that ff6 works. now let me get back to tactics.

plays ff tactics

ok , so does the psp slim have the current custom firmware that the psp fat has? is it the same, better or worse? is it any big trouble getting a slim psp to be hacked into custom firmware? im thinking of trading my fat psp in to upgrade to a slim…whether its a daxter platinum slim, a darth vader slim, or regular slim, i havent decided yet…

one last thing, since my current fat psp is on 3.40 cfw , and my psp slim will be on a more recent cfw, if i use my psp, on my ps3 for remote play, connected data, anything. will it brick or anything bad happen?

details soon plz, ill head to gamestop soon with the right news =]

Need help with broken analog!!!

Sup guys,

So I was playing NBA Live 08 when my analog stick shitted on me. The little stick thing came out, and when i put it back in the input or pugs or whatever is all messed up. So any tips on how to fix this.

“Is it worth trading fatty for a slim?”

At this moment in time, no. You can currently do more things with your fat than you can wth a slim. The only added hardware extras you get with the slim is twice as much memory, which helps with some games and the web browser. If you wanted to test the firmware you would have on the slim (3.71 M33), you can get the same firmware for the fat. The only thing with the slim is you lose 1.50 kernel so all applications have to be ported first before you can use them, limiting the things you can do untill the time comes for said application. 3.71 M33 on the fat has a 1.50 kernel add-on so it’s the same thing, except slightly different to older firmwares. Also as far as I know you lose remote play by installing custom firmware.

Personally I would just stay with the fat untill the time comes where you really need the slim to do something you want. Also I would probably avoid installing 3.71 M33 respectively as it has some slight vulnerability issues. You do get Sony’s extras like custom themes and viewing pictures while listening to music, but you can already do that on 3.40 OE/3.52 M33 (iRShell to listen to music and look at pictures) in one way or another.
