How does Snes9XYTL run for you? I tried playing FF3 and Super Metroid but it was slow/lagging. Maybe I had an outdated version, what version do you have?
I’d also recommend for you the genesis emulator on the first page and gpSP (a gba emu).
Well, I tried Super Mario World and without Vsync I get a tearing effect when I run, like a crack in the screen. But with Vsync on I get slow down in areas with a lot of enemies on screen… So overall not too good, it confuses me because CPS1PSP/CPS2PSP/MVSPSP are arcade perfect…
I picked it up here in the states. Got it with the Daxter pack. Great deal imo: slim, 1gig mem, daxter, family guy umd $199.
Yeah the D-pad is much better. With the psp fat, it’s hard to get diagonal inputs when playing fighting games because the pad is so low in height. You’d have to press extra hard to make sure the down and forward/back inputs are both pressed. With the slim, because it’s slightly elevated, it makes a huge difference in improvement.
360 motions with zangief can now be consistent !
There should be a Star Wars bundle coming out soon. It comes with the new star wars game. also the slim will have a darth vader design on it. I’m not sure if it comes with the 1g mem though …
(This goes for celcius too): You should use SNES9XTYL++ beta with an updated snesadvance.dat. As soon as I get home tomorrow (I’m staying at a friend’s house tonight for some fights) I’ll upload those files, with recommendations on optimal configuration. The difference with the arcade emulators that you mentioned, is that they are all coded from scratch directly for PSP, just like gpSP, while SNES9XTYL is a port from the emulator for PC, SNES9X. Try using always PSP Accelerated + Accurate software, 333 Mhz, Auto frameskip, and Vsync disabled. After that, it’s only a matter of knowing the hacks that will help, which come in the file that I’ll provide ASAP. Meanwhile, get the latest official version, you need it to use the files; it’s 0.4.2 ME.
In emulation, you should have NesterJ (NES emulator), the Genesis emulator (DGEN), Masterboy (Master System, Game Gear, GB and GBC emulator), gpSP (GBA emulator), and in homebrew, irShell (multiple uses, like Remote control, and comes with lots of bundled useful homebrew like Bookr to read your TXTs and PDFs) is a must. Those are the ones that I can think about right now.
^ I’ve been looking for snesadvance.dat to post here. It really does make a difference in SNEStyl’s perfprmance (although it’s still nowhere near as good as the better PSP emulators). If you can find a link or upload it I wanna add it to the front page. Thanks in advance.
As I said, the problem with SNES9XTYL is that it’s a ported emulator. The only way to get one that works with excellent performance (like CPS1, CPS2 and MVS) is coding it from scratch specifically for the PSP.
A bit of an odd question, if the warrenty sticker is removed from your PSP, will Sony still accept it for repairs at a price? There’s nothing really wrong with my PSP, but I had to open it to remove dust and if anything ever does go wrong it would be handy to know they’re there to offer repairs (I understand it’s no longer under warrenty)…
In the XMB, in any of the main options (Music, Video, etc.), select the MS icon, press Triangle and select “Information”. Check the “MagicGate” description: If it says Supported, your MS is original. If it says Unknown, it’s a fake.
