Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

haha thanks =D

how many games did you guys get in last night?

I think after you left I stayed for another 30 mins. I total I beat allen like 3 times outta 10, not bad I guess :P.

I’m sorry, it’s .9.1.5 and .9.1.0 the link is the same one you provided:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=76312
where it says download, there’s two version, i’m wondering why.

also is there any gameboy/gameboy color emulator? I tried the gpsp but it only works for gba.

Okay I get it, I was a little confused by .9.1.0 and .9.1.5… it’s suppsed to mean v.9 for 1.00 firmwares (the original PSP JP launch firmware… 1.00 can run executables easier than even 1.50, but it’s rare and not widely supported by homebrew developers) or v.9 for 1.50.

You’re probably running 1.50 so use the ā€˜.9.1.5’ version.

And I didn’t label it well enough on the first page, but RIN is a GB/C emulator.

haha, you’re looking at old posts. So, are PSP games getting rare/hard to find now? I still haven’t bought the system yet, but I’m concerned with how games tend to disappear from all existence these days…it’s a rather annoying thing. Just off the top of my head, I want to get Darkstalkers and Twisted Metal at least…and the Powerstone Collection. As long as those are still easy to find, it’s cool. Anyway, with the recent price drop…it’s about time I finally get this system. I’d already have it now if it weren’t for a few out of the ordinary/unexpected expenses I’ve had in the last 2 weeks.

*I’m still not sure why I was the only person in the world apparently excited about a portable Darkstalkes and Twisted Metal experience. Then again, the whole PSP vs. DS situation has been surreal and wildly bizarre to say the least.(*like psx vs. n64 all over again…except it’s an alternate universe where n64 is somehow winning.)

Million: i think gameinformers mag was the one that said that the psp war was actually winning. the results were like 2:1, but the ds lite showed up and started to boost the odds up, till soon it started to win. but psp had like billions of its units sold the 1st month it was out, killing the ds odds of millions! but the lite had to ruin those odds. but the odds are still going strong for the psp. anyways, i was wondering…

any games in particular that has a similarity to ā€œthe conā€?

You only need the second GTA exploit to downgrade PSPs with FWs over 2.81. If you have a 2.8 FW then you can use the other method.

Yeah, just the new XMB alone makes it worth it. No UMD on bootup is the single greatest option ever.

I know. Once I booted up my PSP and hit start and let a friend listen. Turns out I had my VP: Lenneth starting up. lol

Right now I’m into the Medal of Honor demo. I just wish moving and aiming didnt hurt my fingers. X(

Speed up the look speed. That’s what makes Syphon so smooth feeling. That and the whole look-before-you-leap style of gameplay or hell the game has run n’ gun gameplay down too. What a damn good game.

So I just ordered Loco Roco from circuitcity.com At $9.99 plus tax and $4 3 day shipping I figure, why not.

I haven’t played R-Type Tactics yet.

If you like horizonta’s, pick up Sengoku Cannon.

It’s the successor to Sengoku Ace and Sengoku Blade on the Saturn/PSX.

Nobody has, it was announced maybe a week ago…

Sengoku Cannon (and Star Soldier and GG Judgement) has been on my to buy list for awhile now… I heard SC slows down a lot, but maybe overclocking would smooth the framerate out…

I got both Star Soldier and GG Judgment. Did a long write up for Star Soldier in the shooter thread. Love tilting the PSP 90 degrees counter clockwise to play. That game is really easy once you realize how bad ass the third but ugliest ship is. If found for under $30 after shipping it’s worth it. Judgment is worth it at any price since it’s like a two for one deal. Playing Slash faithfully on the go has a certain appeal to it and Judgment is a fine diversion from the cough main game. Hurry up Taito!

Taito have you seen the screen shots of the game on the R-Type Tactics website? It gives me a bit more faith since they have human battle cruisers!

EDIT: So it’s cool that in JPN there are those three shooter collections (Twin Bee and two other ones). I’m trying to figure out why we don’t have an R-Type Collection yet minus Final. Or a Ray Crisis collection.

Q: How well do PS1 ports to the PSP run and play (via homebrew and PSN store).

Near-perfect to perfect for the most part, aside from the fact you can’t play 2-players in games. Some games via homebrew have some minor problems since the emulator hasn’t been updated to work with them, but all the games from the PSN Store have been greenlighted by Sony themselves.

I mainly just use my PSP nowadays as a PlayStation Portable (ha!), and as a Portable CPS2/MVS. But I plan on getting R&C:SM in the near future.

I just got Loco Roco and Dj Max Portable 2.

Loco Roco is a fun game and I’m sure it’ll be worth the $15 I paid for it.

DJ Max Portable 2 is a lot of fun but I’m so afraid I won’t be able to play 5B let alone 6B songs efficiently enough for them to actually sound like songs >.<. Any tips?

The PS1 has more buttons than the PSP. How’s this problem addressed?

Some buttons are combinations. There’s a ton of options. I’ve only ever played Vagrant Story, so i’ve never really had the issue. Usually it’s just a combination of two buttons. As I said, it’s very mappable, and pretty smooth in VS.

Does it matter what brand memory stick I use? Or does every brand have the same compatability?

edit
well i just found the answer

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Customer-reviews-for-SanDisk-2GB-Memory-Stick-PRO-Duo-SDMSPD-2048-A10/sem/rpsm/oid/143567/rpem/ccd/productDetailReview.do#tabs

the top review says that it works with psp, but it says that there’s a delay with playing games which sorta worries me

Do you guys have any recommendations for memory sticks I should purchase?

Buy a SanDisk and call it a day. Seriously. Sony is fine too but more expensive. Lexar iirc is a bit slower than SanDisk. The plain jane blue SanDisk MSPD are just as good as the ā€œgamingā€ themed SanDisk MSPDuos (in rainbow day-glo colors!). Plus the regular ones come with the memory stick adapter just in case, ya know, you find yourself running into a device that accepts them.
