Official PSVita/PSP chat thread

I went to 3 different Targets. The first had some cool stuff, but not the 2 games I wanted. The other 2 only had Dungeon Hunter Alliance. So I went back to Target 1 and when dude rang me up, it didn’t do the sale price. He checked the ad told me it doesn’t start until Wednesday (not sure if he was clueless or not though). Then I went to TRU and some of their games (which were already on the shelf) aren’t able to be sold until Tuesday

I just read gamestop is also going b2g1 free, but only on 1st party titles.

You can get it from Amazon UK no prob, according to several Amazon us customers. Save time from that stupid customs bs you have to go through these days when you import from Asia. I’m going this route. I swear, it’s like SOA doesn’t want us to protect our hardware…

Yeah, I would of been on the Gamestop deal, but Uncharted came with my system, and I bought Hot Shots & Wipeout from Amazon $30 each. The other games I want are not 1st party games, so I have to wait for Target.

I want one that style, but I want it to hold the game cards, minimum of 4, would like 8. That one doesn’t hold anything but the Vita.

I’m gonna replace this thread with one that doesn’t have 5,000 posts of old discussion. I’ll keep the PSP first page stuff for those who still read that.

Damn pours some on the curb for dead thread

What is everyone’s plan on purchasing vita games?Digital or Hard Copy?
For the first several, I’m getting Hard Copies. I only have a 4GB card right now, and will buy a 16GB soon. Even with the 16GB, that would be filled up in no time, if I went digital only.

I do like how Sony finally caught on and gives day one digital discounts on a Vita games. I actually filled out that survey, and said I would only buy digital if it was >$10 savings, something like that. They asked all kinds of scenario questions. Not having to leave the house to buy a game is nice too, even though I was using Amazon 90% of the time.

Question about the memory space. I know that each game will vary, but what are the install sizes looking like so far for each game, ~500-600MB per? I’m still on the wall with what size memory I’m going to get, but it’ll be 4GB at the least. Keep in mind, all other forms of media (videos, pictures, music) will be done exclusively through my phone.

I’m not too sure yet, but I nabbed a 32 gb card cuz I didn’t wanna fill one up and then buy more. I still have the 4GB card that came with my system so that’s cool too.

My 4GB filled up fast. I have 5 or so pics (for wallpapers), saves for Lumines and UMvC3, the pilot for Touch, and the demos for Dungeon Hunter and Uncharted and I only have 908 MB left.

While I’m thinking in my mind “okay more Uncharted is always a good thing and it’s portable” totally feel the same way, I love ds because it has unique shit and even the sequels, prequels, spinoffs, etc of existing properties mostly play vastly differently than their console counterparts.

I don’t mind vita versions of games I already have (which I know is kind of oversimplifying it anyways) but I also want new original IP or just something I can’t get anywhere else otherwise I have any incentive to buy vita. I think a lot of people thinking like this have contributed to it’s poor sales thus far.

Dirzzt is saying we’re getting rehashed shit in portable form, okay that is more or less true however, your position doesn’t hold water because console games even franchises don’t have any superior point of comparison to be judged by (unless you count pc). Sony in particular has a (in)famous history of modeling their handheld games as inevitably watered down versions of their console brethren however, console games aren’t restricted by the same limitations as handhelds and therefore are more free to push the envelope even in an existing franchise that’s spawned little innovation to begin with.

I kind of want vita but even if it dropped down to $150 and had a better lineup of games I don’t see it taking away much of my 3ds game time.

Uncharted is 2.7GB
UMVC3 1.3GB
BBCSEX 3.32GB

Naturally it depends on the game.

You can scroll down and see the sizes, most are over 1GB.
For me, for the future 16GB is the minimum I would want. The 4GB I have wouldn’t even hold the games I own right now. I would want to be able to have multiple games of multiple genres on deck. I always hated on my phone, when I reached that space limit of music, and had to start pulling off stuff. Then the next month or so, when I was out and about wanting to listen to it, it wasn’t on my phone. Google Music solved that.

I don’t see why Sony doesn’t start renting games digitally themselves, they already do that with PS+ basically.

I love the concept of the vita but accessories are just too expensive ATM. If FFX was a launch title I probably would have preordered 6. The titles now are look like watered down versions of games I already own. Hopefully we can get some third party memory going because Sony brand is expensive as fuck
I’m not paying a 100 bucks for 32 gigs

Sure you can! I’d love some pound cake!

You won’t see any 3rd party memory any time soon. It is up to Sony to license the use. I see it as them making the Vita price low in comparison to the PSP and inflation and trying to recoup on the proprietary memory. It sucks, but that is business, it is a luxury item. You had Sony license Pro Duo to Sandisk and others because they wanted to push that as the standard. Vita memory will never be standard, micro sd is too entrenched and cheap.
Uncharted & Super Stardust ain’t watered down version of any game, you just have to play them to experience that.
Also I always see people keep saying they aren’t going to pay $100 for 32GB, you don’t have to. There are smaller versions that work just as good, I’m getting 16GB for $60-$20 with the TRU deal. If I fill that up, maybe next year 32GB will be $50-60 and I will buy one.

Except they aren’t dumbed down versions - they’re either the same (UMvC3, BlazBlue) or new experiences (Uncharted).

When New Super Mario Bros Wii came out, it wasn’t automatically outdated because they already had it on the DS. The DS version, also, wasn’t made useless by the presence of the Wii version. Same game, perhaps, but you get a very different experience.

Soon as I can bring my set-up to work so I can play on my break, I might reconsider getting a PS Vita. Until then, not only will I definitely be getting UMvC3 and BlazBlue, I also really hope KOFXIII gets ported as well.

I own Super Stardust already. I don’t think you know how fast that 16 is going to go, vita games are almost 2 gigs in size, and in the future I bet they’ll be even bigger on top of any media you might have. I know of a few PSP titles that are a gig or bigger too. Shits just a little too expensive for what you’re getting.

Sure you can! I’d love some pound cake!

For me, 16GB will not go fast at all. I own Uncharted, Hot Shots, & Wipeout all physical copies. I don’t plan on buying any retail release digitally, anytime soon.

I heard if you own copies of shit like wipeout on the ps3 that you can download the vita game for free. Same with the marvel dlc. Is that true?

Marvel DLC, and other DLCs I have been reading, yes. I think some future games,on Sony’s side, you only have to buy the PS3 or Vita game, not both.
MotorStorm RC is one of those games. You only have to buy it once for both systems. There are some more I heard about.

Wipeout 2048, if you own the PS3 version, you get the Vita version of the PS3 game. You do not get Wipeout 2048 Vita, if that makes sense. You get Vita Wipeout HD & Fury.

Been playing UMvC3 on the Vita and love this version of the game even though I’m mainly a stick player. The controls and graphics are great. I’m glad I held out for this version of the game. Don’t feel like I’m missing much.

Looking forward to Disgaea 3 but I hope we get some new games soon that aren’t ports. The system has a lot of features people can take advantage of and I hope people get on that soon.

Iaght I pre-ordered a copy from Gamestop last week of the Vita since its BC with DL PSP games. As someone who’s never owned a PSP, and never even been online with his PS3 (hahaha), can someone give me some game recommendations to DL? Tied to that I read that software copies would cost less than hard copies of games, can anyone report the cost difference? I’m leaning towards getting a 32 and DLing most stuff if there really is cost savings.

final question, the target deal is 3 games for 2 right? Are there any other deals to look into? I’m trying ot fish for decent pricing on accessories. Going to nab a anti-glare screen protector day one, and hold off on anything else for now.

The savings is $5,and I guess the tax for some people on digital Vita games.
Not all PSP games are BC, I know Phantasy Star Online is not right now. There is a list, but it isn’t 100%.
Valkyria Chronicles 2, is not on the list, but is BC on Vita.
Yes,Target is buy 3 games, get the cheapest game for free.
