How to get it to run on 5.00 M33-6:

I come bearing good news, I know how to get FF7 PSN to work with M33-6.

Follow these steps

1. Go to recovery console (hold R while the system boots)

2. Under configuration enable Version.txt

3. Now go to advance and access Flash 0 (be careful as flash 0 is the internal PSP flash)

4)search for version.txt

This is what the file should look like

release:5.00:
build:2740,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:46876@release_500,0x05000010:
vsh:p6264@release_500,v46652@release_500,20081010:
target:1:WorldWide

Change all of the 5.00\500 to 5.50\550 and the game will run perfectly fine.

Version.txt is a way to bypass the firmware check of PSN games.

I would like to see what is under the mystery box. My brain is divded into three groups with the box.

Optimism: They lift the box to show a PS2 and a PS3. The crowd looks confused, and then Sony says that ALL PS2 games will now play on the PS3 via a special update! That would be good, or if they had that setup and said PSN will sell all the PS2 games online.

Realism: A new shiny gadget for the PS3 Slim, or PSP Go.

Cynicism: A PS3 bundle some shitty Gundam game.

I can’t seem to stop playing the demo of Half-Minute Hero at all. It’s just too freakin’ fun. It’s a game that needs to be given a chance.

My best time on the second level is 31.38s and I’m convinced it’s impossible to finish in under 30.

Yeah, the version.txt trick works most of the time, since the majority of firmwares are only security patches that have nothing to do with the game. I heard version.txt doesn’t work on SoulCalibur BD. I’ll try the demo later.

Oh man! So, if you have a large, 30+ game library of PSP UMD games like I do, and you’re worried that if you buy a PSP Go, you’ll never get to play them again??? Does Sony have a solution for you!

1. Unwrap your shiny new PSPgo and start it up

2. Connect to PlayStationNetwork and activate your new or existing PlayStation Network account for PSPgo Rewards

3. Start up your current PSP and connect to PlayStation Network

4. Login using the same PlayStation Network account , and launch PlayStationStore

5. Pop one of your UMDs into the drive of your current PSP and register on PSPgo Rewards when prompted

6. Download a PSPgo theme

I just tried out the Peacewalker demo, hype x10. I didn’t understand shit, aside from the odd english word here and there. It’s looking very nice.

I wander how long it will take for them to have all of the PSP library up for download for PSP owners who have games that are UMD’s.

I remember Sony saying they’re planning on a massive dump of legacy UMD titles on Oct 1st alongside the Go launch. I’ll believe it when I see it, but it can’t be terribly difficult to copy/paste a bunch of isos to an offline server, then connecting it to the network on a certain date. Just guessing here.

Maybe they’ll release an official dumping software to get UMD games on the memory of the Go. Also, there’s already an english version of the Peace Walker trailer! BTW, Taito, the version.txt trick doesn’t work for SC: BD because it’s from the new batch of games that have encrypted executables; games used to have an EBOOT.BIN and a BOOT.BIN, which have the same function, but one is encrypted and the other isn’t, now games only have the full EBOOT.BIN and a dummy BOOT.BIN, but the European version is kinda like a 100% debug version, which has a full BOOT.BIN and a dummy EBOOT.BIN, which makes it possible to run the game in CFW with a small patch.

I think SCE just told everyone who has an extensive umd collection to stick with a 3000 because that 3-game transition deal is just ridiculous. They didn’t phase out the 3000 for that very reason…Go’s inability to play umds…

Trailer, the demo is only available in Japanese AFAIK (At least the one I have).

BIGWORM: Thanks, but don’t worry, I already have it, I was just explaining in detail why SC:BD is the only game from the “new batch” of games that runs on CFW.

Regarding the PSP Go, I wouldn’t mind grabbing one if it gets hacked, as I don’t even own a single UMD, so it wouldn’t bother me.

I, ironically, own 3: Tekken, WTF, and MHF. Funny enough I only play Tekken on a regular basis, and that’s about to be phsed out by 6 in the next month or so. I plan on purchasing that, and wil probably end up doing the ofw/pandora switching…but I know that I’ll be hooked on it so much, I may stick to the ofw indefinitely.
