Phantasy Star Portable 2 approaches…yeah yeah I’ve said that already…but now there is already a trailer:

Oh yes…ohhhhh yessssss

*the more I see of it…the more it appears to be more than a simple rehash of the basic Phantasy Star Universe. heh, it’s still somewhat amusing to me that a portable version of this franchise has been far more exciting and interesting to me than the recent console versions.

I can’t find a like new 2000 any where locally. God damnit.

Also, I need to find something to sort my stuff. I have an 8 gig card and scrolling through everything to find something is a pain in the ass. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why shit is where it is.

Will a 16 gig card work with 5.00 m-336?

Also, my emulators are hella old for Pico drive, and snes9x or whatever it is? Same with the NES one. Where can I find the new versions? Do they run better or are they glitchy?

Last thing ( I got mad questions today) if I download something on psn to my ps3 like suikoden, and want to put it on my PSP, can I? I heard unless you have 5.50 you can’t do that shit.

upgrade to 5.50 GEN-A and it’ll work. i’m playing ff7 and suikoden that i bought over psn myself.

Got PSX working! At first i had trouble due to a dumb technicality, as you have to first create a folder in the “Game” directory first, and then put the eboot in it. It does not have to even be named anything, just put it in a new folder. Until you do that it won’t show up on the XMB memory stick browser.

Lame but now i know what to do :wonder:

So I got a few sega cd games, and they all come with MP3s. Do I put those in the folder with them? What’s that shit about?

I’m not sure if the one emulator I know that can play Sega CD (Pico Drive) can play Sega CD games that come with MP3s. I think all the songs have to be archived into .ISO format.

The 16 gig mem stick works perfectly. I’ve had one for quite a while, now.

Thanks for the info on the game categories plugin, Tatio. I’ve got all of my games, emulators, and apps organized now.

Just sorta did the ufighterX mod! I bought a cheap plastic folder, brought up the template, held it to the screen, and traced the shape with a pencil.

Then i took a scissers and cut the shape out, still ended up a bit big so i trimmed here & there, then used a hole puncher for the center hole. Lastly, instead of using glue, i just got some scotch tape, cut & rolled small pieces so it stuck with either side to the 4 corners, and then placed it on there.

Put the PSP back together and wow! I can actually do special motions on the PSP D-pad.

Edit: also took it apart again and tried adding another layer, thinking it would help. Made it too tight and the pad tough to use. Removed the extra layer and now its fine again. Just keep in mind the material you look for should be around 4-5 looseleaf pages thick.

When you unzip the Sega CD roms, just keep everything in the folder that was created as it was. All MP3s & stuff should be in the same folder along with the ISO.

It’ll access the music.

Most Sega CD games i’ve come across, all had separate .MP3s for the audio, along with the game data .ISO.

Hey everyone, I’ve got a few quick questions.

I just bought a new psp bundle last night (and much to my dismay I’d didn’t know that it can’t be modded for homebrew) There are some new games that I want to play, namely the persona remake because I love SMT, but the psp library doesn’t have enough games that I would purchase to justify the price. If I took it back got a used phat and made it homebrew ready would I still be able to play persona when it comes out? Or I would I have to either buy another psp or hope the 3000 series gets cracked?

Pretty sure you could. When a game comes out, Usually within a few weeks an ISO is dumped.

I got a first generation PSP (FAT ONE!) Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to start the homebrew process. Thanks!

What version firmware does it currently have? You can find that out in the system settings menu i think.

Can I vent for a little bit?

I have had a PSP fat for years, modded, been playing all sorts of homebrew applications and using it to read books and such. The screen got old so I decided to spring for a new PSP. I got the 3000 thinking that it would be great since you can play outside.

Well it turns out the screen is barely visible in normal daylight. Not just that but since I cant rip isos to my memory card anymore I now have to load all my games from the UMD which is a huge pain in the ass. I have no problems paying for games, but the ability to rip is omething I wanted and now I dont have it.

I keep on looking for information on modding the software to my PSP and almost every site I go to says (I shit you not) “Can the PSP 3000 be hacked? Yes, click the hyperlink to find out how” clicks hyper link “The PSP 3000 can not be hacked at this time. please press hyperlink to return to forums.”

I’m kind of pissed off because all I really should have done is fix my phat because the 3000 has almost nothing for me besides weighing slightly less. Can someone convince me that owning a 3000 is worth more than owning a moddable 2000?

By the way, I want to by an 8 gig memory card. (Sony mem stick) anyone have one? Are the load times about the same as your standard 2/4 gig? Thanks.

So I bought a psp fat from a friend specifically to run emulators on the go. I just got an 8gb memory card and downloaded ChickHEN and all that crap so I can get cfw on it. I must say this ChickHEN is the most frustrating thing I have ever had to deal with. I’ve been trying for almost 2 days to get this shit running and nothing is happening.

Sorry about venting… but to anyone who is running this, did you do anything special to get it running? Or did you wait as long as I have before it worked?

:u:ChickHEN isn’t really the best way to install CFW on a PSP Fat/1000. ChickHEN is a last resort for 3000s. Do you have a spare battery to do Pandora?

What can I say? There are three possible reasons why the 3000 hasn’t been hacked yet:

1, Sony’s tightened up most of the mistakes and vulnerabilities that made the PSP so easy to hack. And there were a lot of mistakes. PSP’s security has come a long way since 2004.

  1. I wonder if attention is moving away from the PSP in favor of the new GP2X and Open Pandora handhelds. Whenever I read handheld development sites, I always see threads from coders, previously famous for their work on PSP, hard at work developing for the other systems I mentioned. PSP’s hacking community definitely hasn’t gone away, but PSP isn’t the hot new thing anymore, so there might not as much interest in the system as there used to be.

  2. Another ‘gotcha bitch’ moment is waiting on the horizon of the PSP Go launch, just like how the Pandora hack was revealed on the 2000 launch day.

But I’d definitely look into hunting down an early model 2000. The 3000 has composite video out, an internal mic, and supposedly an anti-reflective screen, which doesn’t sound like an improvement going by what you’re saying.

How do you find out which version you have?

Yeah I’m going to buy one now. Seems like a lots less effort and frustration on my part.

I want another 2000 but I can’t find one that isn’t fucked up, screen wise. What a pain in the ass.

Calibur: You can mod it if you’re on FW 5.03 or lower.

model wise or FW wise?

i believe looking at the number on the motherboard. But i’m not sure how the 3000s look like though.
