My advice to LAL:
Start Odom and bench Bynum. No team in the west has a better big man that could come off the bench and and play D while snagging tons of boards when they have there 2nd best out on the court. Bynum is a beast but he’s logging too many minutes. LA, IMO, was playing 10X better when Bynum was out. Or, be hard-headed and just bench Artest then starting Odom while extending his minutes (risky).
Possible Trade Bait [IMO]: Artest ($6,322,320), Walton ($5,260,000), Blake ($4,000,000),and Brown($2,149,200).
Actually I like Brown’s game. He’s definitely not up to LA’s standards as a starter but this guy is good enough to be traded to a team where he should be getting 9-10 mill a year for playing for a team like NO, IND, MEM, or better yet, POR. You guys should’ve traded Artest last summer and got another big instead Ratliff who’s injury-prone. You guys need a solid point guard to start and put Fisher on the bench as a “sixth man” role player. He’s not starter material.
Who should you trade for? There’s not a ton of options out there other than Melo who would never go to LA. period (and Yaw don’t have enough money anyway). Iggy ($12,345,250) is over-paid (contract wise), overrated garbage who’s not clutch and never makes good decisions when shooting the ball. P.Jackson would never tolerate that kind of a player on his team. Cleveland only has two real players on their team and one of them is out for the season (Anderson Varejao, $7,281,818). If you want another off-the-bench Big then Jamison ($13,358,905) is a “decent” choice but has too much money on his contract. Stephen Jackson ($8,453,250) would be a good addition but MJ knows that’s all they really have on that squad and I doubt that LA would get a guy like him. There’s always Kwame Brown…($854,389) LMAO. You’re BEST option is Williams ($14,940,153) from Utah. a Package of Artest, Luke, and Blake ($15,582,320) could work, in theory. BUT that’s 2 SF’s gone and Kobe would never want to play that position, and Brown is too short. So, all you have left is Artest, Brown, and Blake ($12,471,520)…
At this point, the only “expendable” players to trade on LA is Walton and Blake and I doubt any team would give up decent, quality player(s) for just them two. IMO, to trade anyone else, other than those two players, would be team suicide. No way are you going to last in the Playoffs especially if you go 6-7 games in 3 of the 4 series. If OKC doesn’t take you out then SAN/DAL will.
And as for my squad Boston:
Forget about it. There’s no need to trade for anyone this time around. Ainge put in serious work over the season and gave Boston MAD DEPTH even with injuries and is still the beast in the east. IMO, wait till summer and gun for a player like Shane Battier ($7,354,500). Boston’s weakness (other than youth and injuries) is that they have no depth at the SF position. Daniels is an “ok” role player but he’s not really that dependable for points, rebounds, or a play maker. Shane has it all and would make a great pick up for backing up Paul and giving Boston a chance to maintain leads when they’re starting 5 needs to rest. I have mixed feelings about Robinson, and Wafer as well. Robinson is loosing his focus and just being way too careless with the ball. Everytime this guy comes off the bench and touches the ball for the first time he shoots a three (and misses). Every damn time. Also, he likes to get called for offensive fouls too often like he did in the 2nd game of the season and last nite. Wafer is a slasher, I like that, but he’s also a hyper-active player that does a ton of movement but with little results. Both of these guys are still pretty decent players off the bench but they need to start growing up. If they don’t by the end of the Playoffs then they gotta go. Daniels needs to go regardless for Battier.
