It will be Boston guaranteed, Ainge is already on record as saying he will give Harden a max contract as soon as he is available.
Perry Jones will not replace Harden, Jones is way to bipolar when it comes to pretty much anything and is extremely flaky. He will probably be out of the league in 5 years.
Good for Harden for having his priorities straight by turning down that low ball of a contract and seek a max deal. I was worried players these days would band together to form super teams and win championships by accepting less than their market value. (See: LeBron, Wade, Bosh) It’s nice to know Harden would rather spend 4 years, or more, playing on a mid-tier playoff team instead of for a perennial championship contender, and all for an extra $2 million a year before income taxes. Thank you James Harden for restoring my faith in pro athletes.
Btw the myth that Lebron, Wade and Bosh took less is just that. They actually make more then they would have with a max contract anywhere else, Florida has no State Tax.
I suppose it bears mentioning Oregon has no sales tax which also saves alot of money but really who the fuck wants to play in Portland, nothing but a wannabe Seattle with a shitty speed limit.
I don’t believe players save as much as they do playing in income tax free states since they play half the season, and thus earning half their salary on the road. I believe players have to file state taxes for the games they play away from home. They probably aren’t the ones doing the paperwork so not only are they paying taxes for road games but for all the accountants and/or agents to help file the paperwork for them.
James, Bosh and Wade took around 15 million less over the life of their contracts with Miami. Sure, they’ll save more money playing in Florida but I seriously doubt they would have paid more than 15 million in taxes playing in another state. Like say if Wade had signed for the max with Chicago.
Nah someone already did the numbers and posted it in an Article shortly after those 3 signed. They seriously did save that much money from not having to pay state taxes. It is actually a smart move on their part, they get to play together and make the same amount if not a bit more then they would anywhere else.
You also have to remember with state tax not only do they save between 7-10 pct depending on your state on every paycheck(which is alot with the paychecks they get) They also do not have to pay the state every year upwards of acouple of million depending on the state and deductions.
In that case, Deron William made the wrong choice. Re-sign with the Nets to play with Joe Johnson of all people and have to pay NY taxes or go back home to Dallas and live in tax-free Texas.
Lol yeah alot of people do not factor that in for some reason. Alot of military people do that to if they can. When you join the military any state you have lived in, you can claim as your state for state taxes. Since my Social is from Florida, as it was the first state I was in, I could claim Florida for tax purposes. Not going to lie it was pretty damn awesome.
Also I was thinking about Sales tax with the those numbers, state can and usually does actually take more then that from each paycheck. I know between state and federal in Oklahoma you lose about 30-40 pct of your paycheck each paycheck.
That was decent damage control by OKC. I expected maxing out on Durant, Brook and Ibaka to completely blow up in their faces. Harden pulled a disappearing act in the Finals anyway.
Houston otoh… LOL. I’m sure there’s some new CBA logic going on there.
i don’t really know too much about harden but i don’t know how good he’ll be going from a team where durant and westbrook got most of the attention to being the man where teams will be zeroed in on him from the beginning. guess we’ll find out.
