Official NBA 2011-2012 Thread - AK47 upgraded to AK 20 Million

Much like Deron Williams, I used to live in UT. I now reside in North Carolina.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

But I rep the Jazz. And the 76ers.

Its arguable who is better between him, williams and rose(no offense to rondo, but he isn’t on their level), I prefer williams because he has the size a lot of point guards lack while not giving anything up in speed, ball handling or court vision.

On a seperate note, anyone else tired of all these other teams trying to make their big three? I mean don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe any player has ever won a championship on their own, but what ever happened to building a solid team around one superstar? You know, the kinda team that just won the goddamn nba finals? I support the dynamic duo style, but getting 3 just feels like overkill sometimes, especially when its 3 players whose play styles overlap(heres looking at you miami). Chris paul to like orlando would be magnificent, d12 to new jersey would make a nets fan outta me, but chris paul to LA just doesn’t rock my boat as much.

Hopefully the rumors that chandler is going to new york are true, despite the fact that they are a “big” market(prolly the biggest in the nba) that franchis doesn’t have a prestigious history when it comes to wins, and id like to see them rise to the top and give miami a run for their money. Plus new york needed a defensive anchor and chandler provides that(when he is healthy anyway), a much better acquisition than chris paul in my humble opinion.

I can understand about Rondo, I just really like his game. If I were starting a team he’d be my PG if Rose wasn’t available. Without a doubt. Williams though - maybe I need to see more. I saw a lot of his games while he was in Utah on TNT and I was all about him - I just don’t think he’s better than Rose. Compared to Rondo it’s basically decided on what you’re looking for.

Yea he made me a believe during the 07 playoffs when he average 30 points and 9 assists against the 07 San Antonio Spurs and pretty much took the jazz to the conference finals that year(they lost to the spurs, but still, them is some solid numbers). He is very solid overall, but like I said, its arguable who is better between him rose and paul, they are all monsters and pretty much the 3 best point guards in the nba right now(no disrespect to whoever it is Im probably forgetting).

I dunno if Baron Davis is trying and not fat, he is awesome.

Thing is he loves eating food and it almost always fat.

I also think Deron is better. Bigger, more durable. I also think he’s won like every head to head matchup or something.

Jrue will be better then all of them though. HOMER OPTIMISM.

So it’s official??

There’s a 3 way deal involving Houston going on right now about CP3 landing on the Lakers… and as I type this it might turn out to be a straight LA-NO trade. Paul for Gasol and Odom.

^ Beaten.

My personal thoughts on this (ie. conspiracy theory time). NO is owned by the NBA, they want the Lakers to succeed. I believe revenue from national TV contracts is split evenly between the 30 teams, but I’m not sure about the local ones and LA did ink that big 20 year deal recently. In any case, with another superstar player it means higher ratings for Lakers games and more revenue, and that = more revenue sharing and money in the small market owners’ pockets.

i dont think id pull the trigger on that, you are relying on bynum way too much that dude is basically kwame brown plus

This is ridiculous, WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY GASOL JERSEY?!

Maybe it’s because I’m living in Chicago, but I like Rose. He’s definitely not better than CP3 and it’s kind of a slap in Paul’s face that Rose got the MVP before he did. It further shows why MVP doesn’t really matter.

Edit: WTF!? Crazy Laker trade

Wow, I’m speechless. I won’t admit to being NBA knowledgeable, but I do agree in that Lakers are indeed relying on Bynum too much. As much heart as Bynum has, he’s missing a few knees. I’m hoping Lakers are signing a legit back up C or something. Also, who’s taking the PF spot now that Gasol AND Odom are gone?

Who cares about you James Chen might have to jump off of a bridge now.

NOOO JAMES DON’T DO IT!

But why would you trade so much for one year of Chris Paul if there’s no extension involved?

Honestly… what are the Hornets thinking. I heard they get Gasol or Odom, Kevin Martin and/or Scola and a couple picks.

Those picks will be low in all likelihood.
Odom is over the hill without Kobe or some type of superstar to play off of.
Gasol is still good, but doubt he’ll be the same.
Martin And Scola are good, but not enough.

And they trade him in the conference? Make him the EC’s problem and take Rondo.

I think they plan on making a push for Howard since the deal doesn’t involve Bynum. He may not resign if it’s just him and Kobe. If they get Dwight, I think it’s a good chance he does. How could he pass up a chance to become part of the new Shaq & Kobe when Kobe eventually retires?

What do you mean what are the Hornets thinking, the Hornets are ran by the NBA. Are you really that surprised they will try to rig some shit.

Wow I can’t believe CP3 is a Laker now.

Headasplode

Forgot all about that. Now I really don’t like the trade.

Man I hope Paul doesnt go to the lakers, anyone but them.

Man I hope the Rockets give up that talk and now Dragic is in those trade deals wtf.

Dwight Howard’s a free agent at the end of the year too, same as Paul.

If they still somehow have the pieces left over after getting Chris Paul to grab Dwight as well (which I doubt, because if they did, wouldn’t they just expand it into a four way deal right now?) there’s a chance both of them could leave LA at the end of the season and choose go to New York together, or to the Clippers with Blake, or pull their own Miami thing with any team with enough cap space, etc.

You don’t risk blowing up a contender to grab two guys on one year contracts unless you know they’re going to stick around, like how the Knicks wouldn’t pull the trigger with Carmelo until they got him to sign an extension as part of the trade.

If LA doesn’t do that and Chris Paul goes to New York or something at the end of the season, they could have shipped out Odom and Gasol for nothing.

There’s got to be more to the deal.
