Goddamn, I wished I was at the Real Sports bar when they announced it. 5 seconds of pure silence then BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
In all honesty though I expect some good shit from Velocicuinas. I’ve watched his games and he plays really well.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shit mothafuckaaa
I remember being at a St Louis - wild applause and shouting from people that were so shocked and happy to see Cleveland reach for Tristan Thompson…and then suddenly a few minutes later, the shocked silence and outrage at the Raptors picking “another dirty Euro” (my words at the time). Just ruined so many nights, haha, so awesome.
I’ve actually warmed up on Jonas now as well, I’ve read nothing but good stuff, and understand that he would have been ranked higher if there weren’t buyout issues…issues that are mitigated now due to a shortened season that we’re hoping to tank anyway. I managed to talk myself into riding JO’s surgerically surgically restored knees to a 50-win season too, I’m very good at self delusion when it comes to the Raptors.
Knicks and Heat dynasties? I’d be like the mid-90’s again, that would be kind of crazy.
But Knicks don’t have the assets to trade for Paul, there’s like 20 teams in the league that could beat their trade offers of like…Billups + Balkman + Fields + picks or whatever.
Landry Fields is really their only trade asset, and Billups and maybe Turiaf are the only guys that make enough to match salaries…there’s nothing there.
Otherwise I guess they can try to just sign him straight up in the offseason…but I don’t think they have enough space for a max contract offer.
Unless…Carmelo Anthony: unlikely amnesty casualty.
I can’t believe the Knicks fans are having the “Would you rather have Dwight Howard or Chris Paul” debate right now… ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME KNICKS FANS!!! I’d have EITHER OF THEM AND THANK MY SWEET BABY JESUS THAT MY BELOVED KNICKS DON’T SUCK ANYMORE! Well… actually I’d take either one then pray for a new coach… NY has always appreciated good defense. Jeff Van Gundy needs to bring him and his bags under his eyes back!
^_-;
Hey guys, for fantasy basketball, do you prefer Yahoo or ESPN? Does one have anything special over the other? I’ve been running my league on yahoo but could move to espn if it’s better.
He can wait whatever he wants put unless the Knicks owner is willing to pay out of his ass for Salary Cap penalties(which are far far more harsh this time) and wants to fill his team full of CBA player and never win a championship , then go for it.
This is like asking if you like women with vaginas or women with dicks.
hmm…
CLINT, are you ready for a decade of Nikki V vs Joanie S? I AM.
Large Euromen collide! SIXERS VS RAPTORS ON COMCAST.
watched opencourt on nbatv earlier this wk. good shit.
cp3 deserves better than nyc.
LOL that would be awesome. Damn I hope the Heat amnesties Bosh.
I’m not really against superteams but it’s awesome that after delaying the season and squandering the league’s goodwill in the name of ‘parity,’ we’re right back to the biggest superduperstars demanding to play in the biggest markets. The desire to avoid being the next KG in Minnesota will never go away, no matter how many restrictions the CBA put in place.
I would die of laughter if that happened.
Don’t see how knicks will get paul NY certainly doesn’t have the trading assets, but my gut tells me he’s gonna land his ass there anyway.
Hope you guys liked waiting to find out where Carmelo went and him pretending that he didn’t want to be traded the whole time and the Knicks coming up with these stupid packages that the Nuggets eventually had to take because otherwise he’d leave for nothing, because it’s THE REEEEEEEMIXXXXXXX.
It’s funny how stars can put basically a gun to your chest and tell you I want to get traded and only to team X…
Nothing really wrong with that. The top NBA stars are actually underpaid relative to their contribution to the team while a lot of middling players are way overpaid.
Well, I know its a sensetive topic in itself and there are a lot of pros and cons concerning player movement and what is best for whom.
I agree, that many NBA players are overpaid. More then one manager has to rethink personal roster politics. But like some old fashioned coaching antics, bigs will always be overpaid, even if only playing 5 min a game.
I do not want to deny a players freedom. If a player wants out of a team and has usually spent enough time with his old one anyway, he should be able to demand a trade. Afterall we know that some mangers simply can’t get a decent roster together for a bunch of reasons. I understand that players usually want to win and do it with a team and in an enviroment they belive is capable of doing such … It’s like a regular job so to speak and changing career paths etc.
Still, the way it turns out like in the Melo-drama… with single minded approaches and destination wishlists… That usually hurts a team more in the long run then just a star player leaving.
By and large, teams with multiple big name stars win titles. The Hornets simply can’t give CP3 another star to play with. He’ll be like KG in Minnesota there.
Typical dynasties? 2 or more star players like the 90’s bulls, 80’s pistons, 80’s and 00’s lakers, 80’s celtics and late 00’s celtics, and the 00’s Spurs
The teams that win titles without huge names seem to have moneyball type qualities to them like the mid 2000’s Pistons with their absurd defense. They managed to get a lot of undervalued players that were good at defense and just enough offense to get by. Likewise, it felt like last year’s Mavericks pulled a lot of mix and matching with their players in specific roles despite only having one bonafide star still in his prime in Dirk.
The 2001 Sixers had enough juice in Iverson and a bunch of defensive types to get to the finals, but got rolled by the kobe/shaq lakers. It’s really a shame Ratliff got hurt midseason and they had to go out and get Mutombo, because Mutombo killed their transition offense by being slow. They’d still have lost, but it might have been a more interesting finals.
