After the install is it normal for others hear a fuzzy noise when using a wired headset? I tried using a wire wrap around the wire for the head set inside the TE stick to block any form of static.
Never had issues with any of the 3 i’ve used
Maybe I’ll go wireless.
Would you be willing to try something out to see if it helps any? If so, grab a length of insulated wire about 2inches long, expose a little wire at each end, and screw down into the vcc screw terminals, one end at xbox section, other end at out section. Test it out and let me know if there is any change.
My TE Kitty came in earlier this week, and I finally managed to install it. Works great! I don’t have any PS3 fighters to try it out on yet, but Demon’s Souls did a good job of checking functionality.
If you do a board spin anytime soon, you might consider using different terminal blocks. With the ones on there now, even at its tightest, each position only seems to hold the very end of the USB wires, and considering the high gauge of those wires, they tend to slip back out. That was probably the hardest part of my installation.
Also, the board had no problems auto-detecting my PS3, but do you have to move the switch to RS and hold the back button upon plugging in every time to play in 360 mode? Not a big deal, but I just want to make sure I’m not doing anything unnecessary.
Thanks again, I plan to get a lot of use out of this!
Got my Kitty last week and got everything up and running without a hitch (Except I had to cut the USB at a different point than in the installation guide). Works great!
Thank you Toodles! Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to dual mod their TE/VLX!
Hi Toodles,
We modded 3 TE-S sticks with TE Kitties the other day (it was quite easy, the guide is amazingly easy to follow), 2 of them work great, but the 3rd one has a glitch: in 360 mode, one of the buttons no longer works (RT). The odd thing is, it works perfectly in kitty mode, so I don’t think it’s the kitty’s fault. Since you probably know this tech inside out, I was wondering if you could give us some pointers what might be wrong there. Any help is greatly appreciated
Just finished installing my Kitty and everything is working great. Installation is really easy, save for some encounters with Mad Catz’s amazing glue XD. By the way, I would also recomend to cut the USB wire at a different point, to make it more easily manageable.
I would like to thank Toodles for this amazing product and service, I can’t recomend it enough to anyone looking to dual mod their sticks and will certainly be telling about it to everyone I know who can be interested. Thank you, Toodles!
RT in a 360 TE is known for having issues :shake: your pcb might be goig out… its a madcatz issue… you can call customer service (not e-mail) and see if the can help you out by getting a new board… they are pretty helpful to those that call…
cool thanks man, i’ll try to pick it up sunday.
Finally got around to installing those TE Kitty boards I got a couple weeks back. I was a little surprised with my TE-S; the glue was really easy to remove even with just my fingers. The regular TE, however, was not nearly as cooperative. Glue aside, everything was exceedingly easy to install, and both of my sticks are working fine in both modes. I’m really liking the use of the turbo LEDs as well; I honestly don’t think I’ve ever even used the turbo function before, so it’s nice to see the LEDs gain a purpose. Overall, I’m really impressed with the quality and ease of your boards, Toodles. Thanks for making so many great products.
Please find me asap; we’ll be leaving after MK.
crap, we weren’t heading down till the ae and marvel finals. my friend might make it there before me and pick it up from you.
Welcome guys!
I’m the member who has this glitch thing. Toodles could you give us any advice what should be trying to fix the issue?
You mean the original board sucks? Before the Kitty installation every single button worked perfect.
We are from Hungary, here is no official Madcatz support. Unfortunately I cannot call their service.
Do you think there is no other way to handle this problem?
Toodles, any progress on the HRAP VX or Hori Fighting Stick VX Kitty boards?
I’m thinking of doing the the RJ-45 ethernet cable add-on on my stick and I had a few questions:
-Can I still use the USB cable I have installed for ps3/xbox360 and do the RJ-45 add-on mod w/ no problems?
-Will i have to disable the USB connection and stick w/ the RJ-45 connection?
-Will the turbo option be disabled if i do the RJ-45 mod?
-Where can we purchase the RJ-45 cables for other game consoles?
Sorry man, I was trying to find you both days. Since your Seattle area, and order from the order page ( http://gdlk.co) would likely get there in 2 days, 3 tops.
Nope, known problem with Xbox360 TE sticks. The only workaround is to rearrange the buttons so that your Fierce and Roundhouse buttons are set to LB and RB. There’s nothing known that can 100% the problem. If you believe the Kitty is at fault, you can reconnect the Xbox360 USB cable to the main TE board and remove the Kitty; I am confident your problem will still occur, but you can test for yourself.
How easily does it happen on yours? I have a couple of ideas of things I’d like to try to help alleviate the problem, but causing the problem to occur is difficult since it is very intermittant. How difficult is it for you to make the problem occur?
None significant. FS VX beta board I made needs a small tweak; the physical dimensions are slightly off, and Im worried about the idea of such small 13 pin ribbon cables. HRAP VX Im still stuck on figuring out how best to tap into the main face button’s signal lines.
- Absolutely, yes.
- It’s an option if you want, but it is not required. Most folks, myself included, just run the original USB cable for 360/PC/PS3, and just use the RJ-45 jack for the older consoles when needed.
- err, Im not sure what you’re picturing, but Im pretty sure the answer is ‘No’. The Turbo button will work just like it always has. If you hold Turbo and press a button, that will activate Turbo on that button (true for all consoles, 360 and Kitty). But pressing turbo will also activate the Back/Select button. As long as you dont press a play button at the same time, pressing Turbo will activate Back/Select and not change any of your turbo settings.
- You can make them yourself using the directions in the user’s manual, or most techs here can do it for you. I know J&J Socal, Gummowned, and NiteWalker all have threads in the Trading Outlet, and can easily make RJ-45 console cables for you.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll get started on this mod as soon as extra money rolls in. Damn holidays…
We have some basic electrical routine like soldering, or measuring by multimeter.
If you could describe your ideas at large it would be greatly appreciated!
