Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

just picked up a VLX, will be ordering a kitty from you soon. since i rewired the stick to the standard button config A for SF, i would have to use the OTF button remap to match the layout for ps3, correct?

also, is it possible to solder a 1pos terminal block for that 2nd unlabeled vcc hole? if so, which should i buy?

  1. Yup. But it saves in EEPROM, so you only need to do it once and the settings will remain.
  2. Sure. You just need to find one with a post diameter less than 0.9mm. This one:
Screw Terminals 2.54mm Pitch (2-Pin) - SparkFun Electronics
is nice and cheap, but I can’t swear it’ll work; the posts are 0.9mm wide, so it may be a tight fit, or need a little filing of the legs to fit in the holes. I also don’t know if it’ll fit right; the holes are very close to the side of the main VLX black box. Not to expensive if you want to try, but there’s no way for me to be sure if it’ll work.

Toodles disregard PM, read first post. placed my order, can’t wait!

Any updates on when/if Lizardlick’ll be selling these objects of sex?

Quick question Toodles, does the TE kitty board lock the start and select buttons when lock is engaged? Would you recommend manually modding that part in case it does not? or would it cause a problem? Thanks !

It’s on its way.

No ETA.

Only if it did before the mod. Hell no its not recommended; extended mods outside what I make I want nothing to do with. No, it would not cause a problem if it was properly done.

Thanks for the reply Toodles !

I received the Kitty board yesterday and installed it. Everything works perfectly, tested on PS3, Computer (PS3 driver and Xbox360 driver), and on PS2, with RJ45s. I added the lock switch mod, sorry if i overstepped with that question, i didnt mean to, but i can confirm it works just fine.

I had one observation i wanted to mention. It’s probably normal due to a byproduct of one of your features, but the Home button in PS2 mode is sending an 8 input on the joystick (i had it set to DP when i made this observation). Again i am sure this is intentional but i wanted to let you know just in case.

Thanks for creating such an amazing board, Toodles!

I think he was joking. SRK needs a sarcastica font style.

There are PS2->Xbox360 converters that use Up+Select to activate the Guide button. That was put in on purpose, so using a PSX cable and one of those converters, pressing Home would activate the 360 Guide. May seem silly with these being made to dual with a 360 board, so just consider it a carry over from the MC Cthulhu.

Nah, dead serious. I’m not gonna recommend doing that mod to anyone; if they mess it up, more work for me. But if the TE-S wiring works the way I think it will, then the TE-S will continue to have Start and Back controlled by the lock switch.

This is probably gonna sound crazy, but is there any way to have the guide/turbo LEDs not light up when you move the stick/press the buttons? While it’s certainly cool, I’m not sure I’d want my stick to be all blinky.

There are diodes on the bottom of the board that could be pulled off with a pair of pliers that would the turbo LEDs from lighting on press, but its kind of brutish. There’s no other way to do it though. The guide LEDs lighting to match the stick could be disabled in a new firmware revision.

package came in today. install was a breeze. not too sure if this is a correction but in Step 7 of the .pdf the part while holding guide while inserting usb it says quadrants 1 and 3 should be lit. mine were quadrants 1 and 4. other than that everything else works great.

question, how do i force 360 mode on pc?

  1. Damn, i always get that confused.
  2. Move slider all of the way to the right and hold down Back button when plugging in. (if that doesn’t work, move slider all of the way to the left and hold back when plugging in. I forget which it is.)

thanks. its slider to the right while holding back. is there any type of documentation that show other secrets like this?

Nope.

Toodles, I just ordered a tekitty. One question, you don’t happen to have any upcb’s lying around do you? I have a couple mc cthulhu’s from LL and they’re great, but sega genesis… I have a 3do/gen/ms/snes/nes project box, but I would love to have a second, smaller, less wire infested one (with more console support). and I could save three controllers lives.

Nope, dont have any UPCBs.

Just ordered my TE Kitty, can’t wait!

Quick, random question. I know that PS3 TE can’t be used for PS2 games, so I was wondering if a 360 TEKitty can be used for PS2 or do I need to go ahead and prepare to make a PS2 to USB?

I dont think I actually understand your question, so just let me say this and hope something clicks
-TE Kittys are only for Xbox360 model TEs.
-Kittys work on PS3 consoles, including on backwards compatible modes (PS2 and PS1 games played on a PS3)
-Kittys can work on PS2 and PSX systems directly, but only if you install an RJ-45 jack and correctly make a RJ-45 to PSX cable.

  • USB support on a a PS2 console is NOT possible using the USB cord.
