Official HORI RAP Premium VLX (VEWLIX) - VX (360); V3 (PS3) - Arcade Stick Thread

and indeed clear buttons will be put towards said template  already have all the parts, just waiting on my friend to build the actual case for me :V

I don’t think I could mod one of these if I bought it, it would be like buying a Lamborghini and spray painting flames on the sides.

LOL! Ya, whenever I get mine, I don’t think I’d be able to mod the metal panel. I love the classic look of the Vewlix red metal panel but to each their own.

I love my vinyl graphic only because it really stands out…Thing about the Vewlix color is I never really liked the metallic red. If they came in the silver and metallic purple then that’s another story

Is there a way to get solderless LED’s in this beast (similar to teasy strike / arceye2 / sparky)?

My man purps says it’s possible:

SO COME ON GUYS, WHERE ARE THE EASY VLX LED MODS??? THIS IS THE BEST STICK OUT THEREEE

TUTORIAL, PLEASE???

I’m really thinking of picking up a V3-SA but I’m so jealous of the VLX …if only I could go back in time 3 days and pick up that one in trading post for 250$ with the red meshball top :c. 300$ seems pretty steep still for me for someone who is at best a novice player these days, its been while since I’ve been off the scene but wanting to make a come back. The only stick I have lying around is an old T5 Hori and thats not worth modding at all imo since its pretty much a total gutting to make nice. So I’ve been in the market for a stick, I don’t really like the TE. I actually had a round two type S for about a week last year and returned it because I didn’t like the type S lack of sides and I found I really disliked playin SSF4 at the time so didn’t need it.

I’ve sorta been floating on the idea to get a V3-SA. Get some custom vinyl art done for it and grab a different ball top

I would go for the v3 sa - unless u can find the vlx on sale.
300 is a bit much in my opinion.
V3 sa is a really nice stick.

man…i can’t believe you man…you just dropped $330 on an V3 SA and a Blazablue TE. You should have just bought the VLX

It really depends on your situation. I got a VLX and a Q3 stick. The Q3 was originally supposed to be a training stick for friends orf even a travel stick. I had a V3 SA but found that if I’m dropping 150 in it, why not just sell it for the same price and pick up amazon’s Black Friday VLX for 230.

I do think having two same level sticks is kinda a weird thing but I made my decision to pick up a nicer/collectible stick instead. Both of my sticks are dual modded, anyone with both 360 and PS3, I would suggest the hrap vx sa for the sake of a cleaner dual mod plus the inclusion of a headphone jack.

Noob Alert Does anyone know where I can find a diagram on how to disassemble the RAPV3, I’m looking to change the Art work on my stick but I have no clue as to where to begin?

Does anyone know what kind of quick disconnects the VLX uses? I’m modding my TE and would like to use the type my VLX has.

They snap on and off really easily for super quick button swaps. I have a bunch of the ones you see on LL and everywhere else and they are obnoxious to get off.

Also, is this bit all I need to drill a couple of new holes in the plastic? I want to move the 7th and 8th buttons off the face of the VLX since they are unfortunately needed for menus and colors in MVC3.

I agree with you. The disconnects are super easy to get off. VLX is a beast.

Hello,

I’m thinking about purchasing a VLX pretty soon, but I’m having doubts whether its justifiable enough to buy it for someone who likes to play fighting games casually (maybe a bit more casual) and who is not really into going to tournaments. What do you folks think?

I already have one VLX and I am looking to purchase another. I really suck at fighting games (I’m better at Shmup’s). The real draw for picking up a VLX is the arcade feel. It shouldn’t be a matter of how good you are at games but how close of an arcade experience you want. Also, how often the VLX is going to be used. I go out of my way to play games that are ā€œarcade stick compatibleā€. I love playing Super Mario, Mega Man etc. If you only play fighting games and own a few arcade sticks that’s fine. In my case, I play a lot of shmups, platformers, and fighters so I really get mileage out of my sticks. For me it’s about the arcade feel and I’m not about to throw down thousands for a cab.

Do you have a VLX? Are you planning to change the metal face plate or just cover the original art with a vinyl decal? I have made a template for the VLX already and it’s in my signature. If you’re gonna fabricate a new metal face plate, it’s easier that you think I believe. Open up the front door and you can see all the screws/nuts and bolts holding the stick together. The metal faceplate itself has about 6 screws welded on on the backside held on by bolts I believe. The side bezels have multiple small screws on the the inner case holding them in.

Exactly as Jayducky said. It’s all about putting it to full use.
I’m the same as well, what I’m currently using my VLX for is for a wide amount of shmups and some fighters on both consoles(got mine dual modded):
-SSFIV
-MvC3
-Battle Fantasia
-Arcana Heart 3
-Guwange
-Triggerheart Exelica
-Mushihimesama
-Hard Corps: Uprising
-Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets double pack
-KoF Skystage
-Ikaruga
much more to come as well. The 360 excels in fighters and shmups so I’ve been using my VLX mainly on that console(since SSFIV has that slight lag and once there’s so much happening on screen of MvC3 on PS3, it lags up too). Anyway, the 360/EX version is a better choice to get since it’s cleaner to dual mod and it comes with the headphone jack. I made that mistake when I bought a PS3 compatible stick and played online on Live with friends and didn’t have a mic jack…

Tourney wise, you’ll be fine as long as you have the HRAP travel bag or a bag that’s the right size. I goto a local casual once or twice a week and I bring both my TE sized Qanba stick and HRAPP EX VLX.

Last night I was in the SSF4 training room when all of a sudden none of my punch buttons worked. I did some various testing on the XMB and had issues with some buttons randomly kicking out.

Plugging the PS3 VLX into my PC showed button 5 (Turbo button) active as if I was holding the button down (and the Turbo light was off). When I pressed the turbo button on its own twice to activate the solid light, button 5’s input went away.

Today I went back into training mode and noticed whenever I pressed Start to the menu and back the 3 Punches button would activate only once (in the shown inputs) and if I activated the solid Turbo light I would be able to use my punch buttons like normal.

I then went into the button config to see what was using the 3x Punch button (L1) so I set that to No Action and even with the turbo light off I could use my 3 punches normally which seems to be the best workaround. However I cannot navigate the XMB until I press the Turbo button twice.

I’ve unplugged the ribbon cable from the PCB and still have the same problems. Do you guys think I have a short in the PCB and is there a fix? Thanks!

Minor update: Ok it seems that Button 5 is actually L1 and when I press L1 it shows nothing in the controller properties. Button 5 is being controlled directly by the turbo button. So what this means is when the turbo light is on then button 5 is not active. When the turbo is blinking then button 5 blinks. When the turbo light is off then button 5 is being ā€œpressed downā€ and stays active.

Is it dual modded? I had sorta the same problem with my dual modded VLX(EX/360 model) where it problems with my top row/punches did not work at all unless I hit turbo and LT. In the end, it was the chimp board that wasn’t properly grounding. Solved it by grounding it then wrapping it in anti-static bag lol.

Nope it’s just a regular PS3 VLX. I had a similar issue last year with my TE stick where the down input was stuck even if the joystick and buttons were unplugged. I’m starting to think maybe its my PS3, the outlet, or the fact that I’m using a power strip (if any of those are possible) because I was using my Logitech Driving Force GT when all of a sudden the accelerator pedal because reverse (triangle button in GT5) and I had to unplug the wheel and replug it in.
