The VLX stick is too thick to play on the lap. Iā€™m building a cabinet for it.

$300, interesting. Youā€™re lucky if you live in the US. I paid almost twice as much, including shipping. If you can get one for $300, do get one. Photos donā€™t do justice. In real, this VLX stick is too amazing.

Is the top panel of it the exact same they use on the arcade cabs? or they just make it look the same?

It is not the exact same panel as the arcade cabs. It looks the same though but the measurements are very different.

4 differences:

  1. The VLX stick has the HORI-logo instead of ā€œVEWLIXā€.
  2. On the lower right side of the VLX stick, it says ā€œLicensed by TAITOā€.
  3. The start button of the VLX stick is on the right side (which looks better imho) while the cabinet has it on the left
  4. The VLX has 8 action buttons while the VEWLIX has 7.

Other than that, the face plate on the VLX stick is identical to the cabinet. But if you mean the entire top, it can never be the same because the cabinet is as large as a table with ashtrays, coin mech and back-lit character list bar.

Just ordered an Xbox 360 one. Free shipping but came out to about $25 tax for me. Get 'em while you can.
