Is there any use for “of Gathering” items? Maybe in a big battle where you need a health orb that’s just out of reach and your other heals are on cooldown, but even that’s pushing it.
I think my question is rather with why include such a useless suffix in the game when it doesn’t even help with leveling, though this occurs in RPG’s all the time.
Also, I’m rather envious of you closed beta people. I was about to finish an initial Leoric run with my Wiz and a friend’s Barb and wanted to max out my Monk’s DPS (was 50-something… can’t remember.), and then I forgot the open beta ended the same weekend. Time to deal with demonic blue balls for three weeks.

I realised that I can’t use wolves in no freaking way they suck and the slow is way better
Profound sadness
I know off hand that the witch doctor’s first passive gets a bonus from it. It’s the one where each enemy you kill has a 5% of spawning as a zombie dog for you. Don’t recall if it increases the percent or the range it can trigger though.
wait, what? who? strafe is back from d2? i fucking still play my bowazon to this day soloing shit with strafe. strafe so fucking godlike. o and my bowazon henchmen using a botd bow helps too.
Yea the tooltip for it makes it seem pretty awesome. You move only at 65% speed though, but if you can just vault away it’s no problem and people probably won’t die doing something like being in strafelock by mashing strafe.
You could blow them up for fun at least. The runes for the heal when you explode them also sounds really good, though that’s a long heal since dogs have a 60 second cd. But I guess if you have a set of dogs alive and have your cd off, you would have 2 heals in a 60 second time span.
I wouldn’t say it’s way better. You’ll be happy to have “tanks” later on, and they can apply poison, be used as explosives, be used to restore health and mana to you, etc.
With D3’s current system will you be able to basically try all the runes for each skill or do you need to be selective in where to put those rune points in? And is it just gonna be 1 skill point per rune or you can stack it?
There are no points as such, you click the skill, then you see what you can see in this picture- you can, at any time, select a different rune. The only “drawback”, if you will, is that after switching, there is a short (5-10 seconds?) cooldown before the skill becomes available. So you will always only be able to use any one rune (no stacking), but they’re all free to try out/change at any point in time.
Cool, looks like a Michael Vick style witch doctor’s possible. I liked the burst damage the dog explosion provided, and with the passive + the rune for the dog explosion it looks like I have a gameplan.
Probably going to be my first character. Also:
