Official Diablo 4 Thread : Hype train departing

You ARE a douche.

I’ve been on media blackout for the entire time.

And almost had the story ruined because some asshole (that’s you) didn’t put REAL spoiler tags on that cowardly shit.

Valaris out to perma ban you for that shit.

You selfish, goddamned motherfucking child raping paedophile shit-eating catcher of AIDs infected monkey dicks.

. Diablo 2 might have not been built around PvP but SFII wasn’t built around combos and tournaments and yet it’s what it ended up being used for. There is nothing fun about PVE games, I would tell you this, a lot of competitive people who enjoy challenges would tell you this. Diablo 2 was a garbage game. Any game that requires you grind mindlessly especially for no competitive reason is a bad and boring game IMHO. The only saving grace for Diablo 2 was PVP. It was like Marvel 2, a happy accident. You can deny all you want PVPs influence but let’s be real, all those balance patches weren’t to give monsters a fairer chance in a fight. For the life of me I couldn’t imagine why someone would enjoy that what PvE offers. It takes too long and there is no gain or challenge. If you want to replay games over and over again there are much better deeper games, with better stories, and more stuff to do. It was only because of PvP that I played D2 and without it I wont waste my time on D3 and neither will a lot of people I know. In fact the entire group of people I played with in highschool has no plans on buying the game.

I quit Diablo when I couldn’t lose anymore. I had a 99 Paladin, I had 3 sets of gear for specific match ups during Pvp, my inventory was full of + to skill charms and I had finished the game too many times. It was over, the fun was gone. I had broken the game, I had reached the end. All that was left to do was do more of the same crap I already did but with a new character which held no interest for me. This game doesn’t even offer me that, a chance to break the game, a chance to explore skills and how the match up against races in PvP which is really the ONLY place where depth existed in D2.

People find enjoyment out of different things in life. Some waste their time grinding, some enjoy just relaxing, I enjoy competitive things and things that are actually difficult in such a way that it takes thought processes and pattern recognition to succeed at them. Diabo 3 will be a success with or without me but don’t kid yourself into thinking that the reason Diablo 2 stayed a float for as long as it did had to nothing to do with PvP and everything to do with PvE.

I just…

What is it about this thread that attracts you people?

I’m sure this is old news to most of you, but I just found out that some of the D2 uniques and set items are coming back as the level 60 uniques/sets. I guess that’s a cool throwback.

:rofl:

The only one that’s kidding yourself is you. Sorry. Like I said, Diablo was never meant to be a PvP game. It’s a dungeon grinder. PvP was an afterthought. I don’t know if you realize this, but changes to abilities were made because certain classes and specs were actually ass in PvE. Adjustments weren’t made to give monsters a better chance, they were made to balance out classes as a whole in PvE, which included buffing some and nerfing others. There weren’t legion of angry nerds on forums crying about how X is OP, Y is weak, and why they should be buffed/nerfed. The game is a dungeon crawler, was marketed as one, and was developed as one.

You saying there is nothing fun about PvE games is COMPLETELY subjective. I don’t even know why you’re trying to make a point by saying this. It’s like saying apples suck, oranges are better. Better yet, it’s like saying this apple should taste like an orange instead because I like oranges better. What you did in Diablo 2 was trying to make something competitive out of something that was never meant to be. I get that there are people that enjoy this. That is fine. But do not say the game is ass because you’re trying to get something out of the game that was never meant to be. You pretty much tried to make something like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, a game that is meant to be a PARTY GAME, into something it’s not. Your expectations are extremely misplaced.

Like I said before, Diablo was designed to be a dungeon crawler. It appeals to the crowd that like grinding dungeons in hopes of getting a new shiny item that they need. A majority of the fanbase are people that enjoy doing this. That much is obvious when they said they will pretty much say “Shut up, PVP guy!” whenever someone complains about an ability that may be too powerful in PvP.

Thanks, Spirit. I was trying to make an analogy about him putting pine cones in his ass, but your post was much better.

Oh man. You know what that actually says? It says the game unlocks for play in your home region at midnight in your time zone. GLOBAL PLAY is what unlocks at 12:01am PDT. So everyone has to wait for global play but the game is allowed to be installed starting at 8am PDT on the 14th and then the actual SP and local region modes open up at midnight in your respective timezone. They open those servers per local release times.

edit: NO nevermind I’m an idiot. I guess it’s just the install and SP stuff that opens then. The Regional servers for the states are still offline until 1201PDT. Sorry.

Only thing I care about is that Diablo 3 is actually coming out.

Yeah. That is what I mean.

What SP stuff?

I get off two hours early on Tuesday and have Wednesday off. Tyrael has chosen me!! I am the one!!

im OFF teusday, eat that shit nigga! so Tyrael has chosen ME!

i’m going to be helping renovate a library for schoolchildren, and then working a full shift after that

clearly i am not the chosen one

whats so hard about making items/abilities behave differently in pve and pvp

then both camps will shut up and let the other do what they bought the game to do…

So what will all the people who are taking their PCs to their friends houses to play together going to do when the Battle.net servers die from the millions of concurrent connections on launch day? Talk about D3 but be forced to play D2 in LAN until Wednesday?

Then you have to balance two games. It’s much better to simply make one game that is functional. :tup:

That’s true, but youre balancing two smaller games. So yeah developers have to balance more stuff, but it’s easier since they don’t have to consider as many variables. Worst case you can only screw up half the game instead of the whole thing.

I imagine stuff would start out the same at release, but then pvp/pve variants would emerge as people complain about skill X murdering them in pvp, or skill Y being a waste of space in pve.

Doesn’t sound so bad to me.

@Ken34
nice shot of the storeroom. did you notice there was copy of Diablo 3 in there somewhere?

@Sleepy Zero
LOL at the Diablo series as a PVP game. you stated it yourself that you had a lvl 99 Paladin and obviously a Hammerdin build. i absolutely loathe douchebag hammerdins like you that are so full of themselves. sit back, twiddle your thumbs and fantasize about your precious PVP. the rest of us will be playing the heck out of Diablo 3.

I tried to install it again. :*(
