Julian, thank you for running a great tournament, and thanks to all the people that helped him run it. I know that the Oly Fight Club had a great time.
This event was all around great. Thanks everyone for coming, I really enjoyed it.
Julian turned down drunkenness, a trip to the strip club, and possible cuddling with Pablo on Saturday night so as to keep fresh for Sunday. Hope you guys appreciate his sacrifice.
This event was was great. A good turnout from a lot of skilled and friendly players. It was nice to meet and talk to many of you.
Seattle is NOT free!
Want to say thanks to Julian and the people that help him, thanks to the people that got the equipment, and thanks to slash for the stream.

Right now its going to take me a LONG while to edit the videos from the tournament. Just to give you an idea, its 100+ Videos/24 hours of footage about.
But if you want to check it all out, everything is archived on Justin.TV
Just wanted to post my thanks to Julian and everyone working staff for such a great time, was fun playing VS again against everyone especially Cole with his Anakaris. Hopefully next time I’m back up here some more VS stuff happens.
Congrats Lord_raptor on that win…I guess you got enough bus money home!
I also forgot to thank the staff, Julian you got such amazing staff members making the tournament run so smooth!
My only gripe was when i was winning in ST, there was this mofo watching the MvC3 standing next to me who smelt like he needed to wipe his ass…Made me want to lose as the smell was quite unbearable…Thank god for decent ventilation…Oh if someone finds a spare Super Shit Fighter IV you can have it, dont plan on ever playing it again…
Really my staff was everything, Brent, Jerik, Veteru, Grant, Mike (slash), Mike (hascookies), and Grant’s GF Sandra and everyone else were just absolutely awesome.
Everyone was great, but I thought two communities really stood out: Olympia brought like 12-15 people!!! That is amazing, you guys really love SF2, and also the Blazblue community, you are small and close knit, and the vast majority of you guys showed up and also the finals were so cool looking and impressive, I really would like to start playing CS2. And very cool Tekken had a good number as well including Bronson from California.
A few people left things behind, if you are missing an item please message me a description of it so I can get it back to you. Will post my full recap, a bunch of amusing thing happened and also crisis was averted a few times as well. I can’t believe how smoothly everything went.
This was my first major ST tourney. I thought I was gonna get smashed, but I did a little better than I thought. What a blast. Thanks to all involved for setting it up!
Same. Got a bye, lost, moved to losers, won, then lost. Dunno my final placement but I exceeded what I expected. lol
I somehow won my first two matches, but then proceeded to lose to Cole and Airthrow. No shame in that, I guess. Haha. I was one of the two guys using Blanka, usually standing on the back wall.
I’ve got a lot to learn.
It was a pleasure, Eric.
I want to play some more SF2.
rcaido: I think I know the guy you’re talking about. He was asked to leave another establishment for that issue. ;_;
Yo, I’m down to do HDR or Classic ST on XBL. gamertag is ericface. I’ll try to be on tomorrow night, and throughout the week.
I really enjoyed our match, it was pretty close at the end there!
Okay, yesterday was my birthday and also I was utterly exhausted from BFS, so let me make a longass summary/thank you and future plans type of post. Warning, rambling ahead, but first:
I talked to a BUNCH of new people who aren’t tournament regulars who seemed interested in future gatherings at my house for ST, Vampire Savior, and other old games. I am old fashioned, I prefer calling people on the phone than twitter/myspaceitz/whatever the kids use these days. If you are one of these new people and you are still interested in house gatherings on arcade cabs in Burien, the Versus City cab and also an Astro City are at my place in Burien, so PM me your number here on SRK so I can start an ST/Vamp/Random game calling list!
That said… the event was about 100x more smoothly ran than I expected, with maybe less total participants than I would have liked. But you know what, the atmosphere was AMAZING other than the few times I got stressed about stupid crap (the RGB>VGA encoder me and Slash built friday night to direct capture from the arcade cab was working saturday, did NOT work sunday even after resoldering everything and spending 2 hrs fidgeting with it). I would rather have had the BFS we had than one with twice the people but a bad atmosphere. We had great vibes, and over 100 unique competitors, so I call it a success.
Another BFS is not automatically going to happen. It depends on a lot of things, but basically SRGE would have to offer a sweeter deal financially for me to run tournaments again, so that I could pass on the savings to the players. The number one complaint I heard about the event was about ticket prices, which I had virtually no control over. That said, I do think that complaining about $20 for a whole weekend event is kinda budget.
Before BFS Brent had told me about the feeling he had with Northwest Majors, which was “Now what?” I feel VERY “Now what?” right now. In some ways I am so glad to get this over with and focus on real life, but in other ways it is hard to spend months of planning and hundreds of hours poured into something and just have it be over, haha.
I would really like to encourage people to play Super Turbo… it is the game I love most and am most passionate about, and I hope all the new faces I am not familiar with touch base with me so I can keep them in the loop about Super Turbo gatherings, because I want to break the Northwest record for Super Turbo entrants someday, which is around 33 players. You guys realize Jason Cole is two time world champion, right? We can easily become the best city in the USA at ST with him, Jason Nelson and Julien supporting the scene. Just an idea. I would really like for Seattle to travel more to play ST, and it would be awesome to link up with New York sometime…also you guys interested in ST should register at the dontblowthis.com forums, it is an east-coast based forum devoted to the Super Turbo Revival, I am a mod there and you can keep up with every ST tournament, streams, etc. It’s better than SRK if you want to keep up with and learn about ST.
That’s what I’ve got for right now. I hope everyone had a good time, and I met a MILLION cool new people, I hope you guys keep in touch.
Thanks,
-Julian
