Is it worth importing the Japanese PS3 version or are the fixes in the EU release good enough that I should just wait for that?
I would play it more if I had my 360 back
I’ve had a slightly hard time adjusting to this game on a Hori EX2, not to mention I have no idea how the arcade layout was set up. (Should look that up… I like to play as close as I can to official button layouts) But if you see me (SAB CA) on live, send me a message, and I could be up to fighting
occasionally i’m up for a game in this, shoot “chibita jr” a message if you want some free wins over the worst character in the game ( poor Watson-dono ;_; )
i also play Donvalve
The button layout for the arcade is:
LP HP Gachi
LK HK
I wish more people recognized this game and realized its worth there time to play. It was just bad though coming out during the SF4 hype
is it a good game and is it easy to learn?!?!
Thanks! Should hopefully be able to get used to that
Are many people still playing this online? I got it a while ago went through a couple of the stories and I really like the game.
Right before X-mas my xbox RROD, so I’m hopping to get online and play when I get it back.
Here is my gamer tag if anyone wants to add me.
XBL: Da Unknown 333
PSN: Da_Unknown_333
I don’t feel like looking back 27 pages so I am going to ask the generic newb question
What’s the tier list look like? Just so I can know it
What the fuck is a Gachi?
And I need some Marco and Ashley combo’s.
I know tops is Cedric and Gachi is parry pretty much.
that made my friday
Ashley and Coyori Are Top Tier
Even though people say that Cedric is top, I don’t see it at all. He’s right below those 2, but the tournaments in Japan continue to prove that Cedric is NOT number one.
Also people believe the Watson is on the bottom; which again tournaments prove that he is up there with Cedric right under Ashley and Coyori.
Odile I’m not 100% sure where she falls honestly.
And actually Olivia IS bottom. No doubt there.
So this is what I think (console version BTW)
Ashley
Coyori
Cedric
Watson
Face
Odile
Death Bringer
Marco
Urs
Donvalve
Freed
Olivia
In that order. Thats my opinion
These aren’t the best but, they’ll do
ASHLEY

Gachi is a parry system. Using it successfully makes you suffer no hit or block stun (just like in 3s). Differences are that you can parry consecutively much easyer then 3s, but there is a period of time that you can’t block after trying to gachi, which makes it much less abuse able.
Also, you can Gachi Drive, which requires you to hold toward and press gachi. A low Gachi drive you hold down and toward. You can’t consecutive Gachi if you Gachi drive, but it you hit the opponent after driving, certain things happen. High Gachi Drive creates a wall bounce, with extended juggle potential. Low Gachi Drive, creates a stagger or a “spin out”, creating a ground combo opportunity. Both low and high gachi drives allow you to access a whole new set of target chains (normal xx normal), and most normals can now be canceled into super if they weren’t able to before.
Freed has to be higher than that. I’ve had the game since the PS3 release but hardly played it due to comp, or lack of.
But in my experience, Freed is good. Its like Balrog with an overhead charge punch. And with his L2(?)(I forget the button)with the shadows, it makes mix up guessing games with his charge punch pretty hard. You can have yourself throwing a high, throw out some c.lp’s, if they block, throw out a overhead, then maybe a lp, if blocked, into a straight one, your shadow would be doing the overhead one, which would get alot of people.
I dont know how the game has changed, but I beat a guy at Seasons Beatings 3 who was handing out asskickings to others, quite easy with Freed.
Some characters having the ability to crouch under his dash punch is a HUGE disadvantage. Plus, you really don’t have much damage to worry about be simply blocking high. Hit low dash does crap damage and it totally unsafe if it is block. His dash overhead is his only overhead that he can EASILY be jab’d out of. Don’t get me wrong. I like playing as him but, I just don’t see him being that high.
Thanks for the info. I’ve been playing this game a lot since last night and I am loving Marco and Ashley. So those vids helped a lot. <3
(physical form)
Playing against MY Freed will open up anyone’s eyes. He’s definitely up there with Ashley and Coyori.
Just bought the game today…umm anyway willing to add me to there friends list to give me some idea as to how to play this game.
As FaceMeAndBeBroken was saying Freed in Heat mode is a force to be reckoned with. The straight dash punch in most cases is trash (imo) but his dash overhead/low mixups are really good (especially in Heat mode), unless your opponent has quick reflexes and can read where you are going with your attacks.
At the momment I’m going to main Urs untill I become more familar with the engine, any primers on him or match vids for reference?
