Hi, am very new to MVC, i started playing yesterday and i am currently in the process of building a team.
Right now i have Firebrand first. Heres where i struggle, i can have doom as second which extends his combos (after full air string i call doom laser beam assist and do otg to start again) but the problem i have is with his specials doom doesnt seem to be able to combo off firebrandās hyper 1, only in the corner with the srk motion hyper.
So i look at storm and shes very good as pretty much every hyper will combo from firebrandās hyper 1 but i loose my laser beam to continue the combo. Also i have no idea who to choose as third.
Any help would be appreciated.

What do you guys think of X-23/Sentinel/Ryu?
I had 2 teams in mind.
Nemesis(Clotheline rocket or launcher slam)/ Thor (mighty smash) / Sentinel (Drones)
and
Chris (Gun Fire) Ghost Rider (Heartless Spire) Strange (Daggers)
Any tips? I like the DHC possibility with Thor/Nemesis and Drones help both get in. Second team is more so for zoning with spire to help against anyone trying to outzone Chris and the Daggers can home so it should help with jump ins.
Iām currently trying to find a good third guy for a Felicia centered team. At the moment, Iām doing Felicia (rolling slide), Dr Doom (Plasma Beam), and need a third person to hold opponentās in place after a toy touch for enough time to do PHM after a delta kick groundbounce. Thanks for any input.
Not sure what youāre asking, exactly. FYI, you can combo into PHM (heavy version) off of a heavy Sand Splash. If youāre in the corner, you have to backdash first.
For some reason I never have enough time to back dash and do the splash after the relaunch, I can do a j.mhs, land and do a sand splash, but they jump out before any super could hit. (approximately 25+ hits in)
So I figure to have an assist that could hold them in place after a toy touch so I could then combo into PHM
Shopping Cart? Alternatively you could try and rely on the soft knockdown property of Double Lariat or wall-bounce property of numerous assists.
My main team right now is X-23 (ankle slice), Vergil (rapid slash), and Sentinel (Drones up). Iāve been playing a lot of online matches and needless to say, I suck. As for synergy of the team, I usually use drones or rapid slash to cover my approach for X-23. She doesnāt require a lot of meter to do damage which is good because my Vergil is meter heavy. Sentinel is a great anchor with lvl 3 factor and even without factor his basic bnb can easily do 600k. My biggest issue is my execution. I can do my bnbs in training room no problem but when I play online I always mess them up. Example would be Sentinel L.punch->Cr.M->S->J.H->flight cancel->J.L x2->J.m->J.H->S->L rocket punch->plasma. I also forget to cancel Vergilās stinger if it gets blocked. I also discovered whenever it comes down to the wire with my sentinel, I resort to just spamming full screen H. Any advice would be greatly appreciated because my online record is quickly becoming laughable.
Sadly the only real way to get your execution up outside of the training room is just to keep on playing.
If you have the opportunity, definitely play as much as possible against other people in person, cause online is⦠well, itās online lol. One thing that Iāve found helps is playing in arcade mode actually. Obviously the computer is a cheating prick, and can also be beaten by abusing certain tactics; however, playing against the CPU can help you with landing hits on the opponent, and converting to combos.
Thanks for the reply, I actually play with my roommates. I can consistently beat them but for some reason, I cannot translate that success into my online play. Do you have any advice for changes regarding my team or synergy?
Ah, well nevermind then. I canāt do shit online, but thatās usually because of delay/dropped inputs and such. I usually end up picking sentinel and J. S or c.M all day, seems to work much better than actually trying to play the game.
As for your team, I donāt really know how to use Vergil at all, and my Sentinel is pretty meh (I just use him 'cause dem drones.) I usually use X-23 second so I can have meter for Dirt Nap shenanigans, but I do know Vergil is pretty meter heavy so that might not work as well for you. Sorry I canāt really be of more help lol
Well I just got into umvc3, played it at a friends house and liked a few characters, and was wondering of these teams were good:
Task (h. Arrows) /Dorm (Black Hole) /Dante (Jam Session) - Task looked solid on point and i heard he is good with jam session covering vertical space and black hole helps both Dante and Task Combo. Im not too sure about the order because i know i want to be able to DHC into stalking fire at the end of a taskmaster BnB, but Jam Session wouldnt really help Dorm when he has purification.
Strider (Vajra) / Amaterasu (Cold Star) / Akuma (Tatsu/Hadoken) or Magneto (Beam) - I always liked amaterasu and i heard she has a very good assist in cold star; and i also heard strider was best either on point or 2nd so⦠Akuma would be used for his Tatsu going through projectiles or for a horizantal projectile in his hadoken thing. Akuma could also be switched to 2nd and get Amaterasuās coldstar assist to do some teleport shenanigans which i though was pretty cool. Magneto was placed just because i wanted a horizantal projectile to help strider on point but i dont really like the other beam users or sentinel. Could he be replaced by Storm + Whirlwind?
Vergil (Judgement Cut) / Akuma (Tatsu) / Task Master (H. Arrows) - I really wanted to try vergil in a team, but since i like to stray from overused team combinations i didnt want vergil/dante, so Task was my next best. He can assist vergilās teleport crossups while akuma stops projectiles. Akuma is also supported by Taskās arrows and can do some teleport shenanagins. I also think they can DHC.
So i wanted to know your opinions on themā¦
Wesker/Spencer/Taskmaster - both Wesker and Spencer take great advantage of Task arrows to get in, Wesker likes Slant Shot assist, but DHC synergy isnāt the greatest, and Wesker often dies quickly so he canāt be an x-factor bully.
Spencer/Wesker/Taskmaster - Same type of thing. Spencer can use Weskerās assist for an extra vertical grapple with Wesker assist. DHCing into Wesker isnāt great damage, but it removes his glasses on entry and pushes 850k damage after Spencerās combo which kills many problem characters.
Spencer/Taskmaster/Wesker - Spencer still takes advantage of both assists, does more damage via DHC, and leaves a potential dark Wesker on anchor. Wesker can set up unblockables with Task or extend his combo with easy Sting Masters.
Taskmaster/Spencer/Wesker - Never tried it, but Iām pretty capable with Taskmaster and he can DHC into Spencer pretty well with his otg arrow > diagonal super.
Iām not great with Spencer yet as Iāve recently learned him, so I donāt think I want to use him as an anchor. Iām trying to find the absolute best fit for Wesker and Taskmaster. Still considering Doom, Dormammu, X-23 (havenāt tried her really, but think she might make a great point character with this team). Anybody ever tried something like X-23/Wesker/Taskmaster?
So yeah, opinions on the best order of the bolded choices above too? All these characters are very capable points and anchors, so Iām trying to figure out how to work it optimally.
Nova (B), Deadpool (B), and Doom (B) is who I have been playing. I am wondering if I should swap out doom. I like Nova/Deadpool, but doom seems like a misfit. Let me know.
Deadpool (Quick Work), Wesker (Samurai Edge Low), Nemesis (Rocket Launcher Slam)
I really like this team because Nemesis is a great assist to stop people from rushing Deadpool down. I generally try to build two meters and get a Trigger Happy hit-confirm into Happy Happy Trigger so I can DHC and start Wesker without his glasses. Deadpool can also set up unblockableās with Wesker which is great, but I feel Wesker has a lot of work cut out for him when he comes into play. He has no assist to cover his teleports, so Iām wondering is there a better assist that will help Deadpool zone while helping Wesker cover his teleports ?

What characters should help the most Iron Fist to complete his weaknesses?
-Hulk Anti Air Gamma Charge
-Sentinel Drone Assist (alpha)
-Frank West Shopping Cart
-Hawkeye Greyhound/Kamikaze
-Dormammu Purification

From that list Iām thinking drones and kamikaze do it best, I think with iron fist , its important to discourage aerial maneuvers

Nemesis works well with vergil, a DHC into spiral swords gets me a kill on most. If vergil goes down to a bad matchup, certiorari can usually deal with it , I like strange as an anchor becuz its hard to zone him out , SoV and 7rings makes it hard. I use dagger assist more becuz Iām still not comfortable with how long bolts keeps him on screen ,
