I thought the same thing when I saw him a few episodes ago. I figured this may get to be interesting, but in all reality his character really isn’t. 
I have a feeling he’ll be around a bit more, so let his character flesh out a bit, and we’ll see.
It wasn’t really a silent clock if you wanna nitpick, a ‘breathing’ sound replaced the BLEEP KACHUNK sound. Something similar happened at the S2 finale.
