I am thinking Top 3 in the West for sure if healthy. OKC has all the tools to compete at a high level: two studs, a deeper bench (through some trades last year), great home court, and a new coach to rejuvenate the players. They are weak at the 2 guard position however, so they need to get lucky with some trades this year to address that issue.
They’re not weak at 2 guard. Waiters is a good scorer and Anthony Morrow is one of the best 3p shooters in the league.
The Thunder’s problem is going to be if new coach Billy Donovan is actually worth a shit in crunch time, if everyone stays healthy, and if Westbrook can limit the times he turns into Chuckbrook and bricks them out of winnable games.
Lol Waiters has a nasty reputation of missing layups, but it’s true he is a good scorer when he’s under control.
Thunder are dangerous, but when all is said and done, defense is what gets you to the Finals. Thunder were 9th… solid but not good enough. If they’re not top 5 in d, especially when the playoffs get close, then forget about it.

That was Larry Brown, Flip coached the Pistons to three consecutive ECF appearances though. Two of those years was without Ben Wallace, many people forget that when the Cavs went to the finals that year the Pistons front court was the corpses of Webber, Mcdyess, with Mohammed and Rasheed.
When Glen Taylor said Flip wouldn’t be back to coach this season at all, I knew it was bad but didn’t think this would happen.
I’m legit depressed over the Flip news. He was a big reason I followed the Timberwolves heavy during Garnett’s run. Great guy and coach.
…Definitely not something you want to hear right before the season is about to start. I remember watching that press conference for KG’s return and feeling happy and excited for him, Flip, and the Timberwolves franchise. Sad news indeed.
