You mean we weren’t already? Despite what our record says we are by far the worst team in the league, and with the moves we’re making (and not making) we’ll probably be that for a long, long time.
I’d say that Watson is only there for the rest of the season and the real head coach comes in the summer, but I can’t tell with this front office anymore. Anyone here really good with photoshop? Let’s doctor photos to make Sarver look like a KKK member and make them go viral.
I wonder how much more motivated Lillard will be through the next weeks, not being named an All Star. I think stuff like this really gets to him and I hope he lights it up.
I read the Suns wanted Nash, but he’s enjoying spending time w/ his kids too much to leave them right now. They’re leaving the door open by only making Watson the interim coach.
Luke Walton.
Given, I don’t think he’s that great of a coach, just inherited an autopilot team - but you don’t have to be a great player to be an awesome coach. How many great coaches were amazing players?
eh, does it really matter? the FO seems to be the suns biggest problems, and their inability to stomp out drama with all of its pieces. suns won’t be good this year and maybe next, so you should already just accept that. they need this offseason to fix a lot of issues. with that being said: i think what they have right now is better than, say… the lakers, and booker could really be something. that will be encouraging for potential coaches…
they just need to stop trying to push the 2 pgs (even though i don’t see them solving that this offseason) and hand the keys to len at the center position and see what he can give you. and they need to avoid purchasing drama… suns taking L’s with trades that end up costing them more money for players who get upset or injured way too often… and then there’s the whole markieff issue.
suns will get a high draft pick this year, and drafting is something they do really well… now they just need to clean up the rest of their team building process to match.
phil and carlisle were far from great. carlisle wasn’t even a rotation player. kerr has history, but i don’t think anyone ever saw him as a great player. kidd is… not a good coach. doc is probably the best on your list.
some i can think of that were good players and good coaches:
danny wilkens
larry bird
danny ainge
don nelson
sam mitchell
mike d’antoni
doug collins
larry brown
Oh no I’ve accepted that the Suns will be ass this season for a couple months now. It’s just that pride of a fan that makes you want to stick it out to see if their luck will get any better than it is now.
As for the coaches I listed I’ll admit that I’m young enough to only remember seeing Kerr and Kidd play so I was kind of reaching with that.
I’m honestly sick of this whole Byron thing because the narrative never changes Byron doesn’t play “D’Angelo Russell” enough. Like he’s the only young player on our team that needs playing time. Up until last game D’Angelo was tied for 5th in mpg among rookies with Justise Winslow who’s averaging 27.6 with Russell currently at 26.9. Okafor is at 30.6, Towns is at 29.8, Mudiay 29.6 and Porzingis is at 28.0 so its not like other rookies are playing that many more minutes.
Among other pgs Russell is 29th in the league in mpg with only 4 pgs with 3 years or less experience playing more minutes than him Clarkson 32.1, Carter Williams 30.8, Mudiay, 29.6 and Payton 29.3. So people whining about his mpg should please stfu . Some people want him playing 35 mpg a night only 20 players in the league play more than that and they are all infinity better than D’Angelo Russell at this point.
If anything Byron isn’t putting the team in the position to win, it has a lot to do with coaching but personnel matters as well. And if we were winning people would complain that he is “messing up the tank”.
this single motion shot will be a must in the future. good two motion shooters (cock arm, elbow follow through) needed to jump through the roof to get shots over defenders. now getting a shot up is being able to get from center to release as quickly and efficiently as possible. and curry is showing that it doesn’t take a ton of strength to launch from distance with this style.
anyone worth their weight in 5-10 years will be shooting single motion.
People seem to ignore the second half of Mark Jackson’s comments. He said Curry isn’t just a knockdown shooter but a complete player and kids should work on other parts of their game.
Really, blame the media for influencing how kids think. Youtube videos either show Curry hitting long 3’s, throwing fancy passes or crossing his defender. They very rarely ever show how the play developed beforehand. Doesn’t mean X’s and O’s channels don’t exist but the ones that do get far fewer views than the ones that show Curry breaking Chris Paul’s ankles.
It also doesn’t help that the majority of so called experts are idiots who spout nothing but generalities and offer the most bare bones analysis.
“DeMarcus Cousins can get anything he wants in the paint.”
“The Houston Rockets didn’t play with enough energy to win the series.”
What the fuck do these mean exactly? Outside of a few guys like Zach Lowe and BBallBreakdown most analysts are pretty terrible at discussing the game.
