Preach. He’s supposed to be part of the “next generation” of Spurs, but I don’t see it. Only memorable thing he’s done between last season and this one - has been the Stuart Scott shoes. It seems after getting burned a couple years ago in the finals, he’s yet to be able to recover.
Not quite Nick Anderson.
Don’t be Nick Anderson after the Bulls dug into him.
Nick Anderson was a good shooter.
Then Nick Anderson became a worse shooter than Shaq.
Don’t be Nick Anderson.
It’s literally like… you took everything out of context to suit your post. If you gotta quote things out of context it’s a bigger indictment on you than me. And still tell me where I was wrong. Do teams not get out of their offense to keep up w/ GS? Does Dray not get sonned when he has to guard someone w/ actual post ability? The vast majority of bigs in the league are Drummond/DeAndre type dudes. Actual skilled big men have good games against Draymond.
Did I say Green would abuse Curry? Or did I say what he does against Curry would be key? - There’s a difference.
I never once said the Spurs would win - I didn’t even make a pick because Pop has shown he doesn’t care about regular seasons wins. He just wants the team to be healthy come playoff time.
Please show me any situation where team have correctly guarded Steph and Dray running a pick and roll. Cleveland did it one time during their last game and it resulted in a steal. If you continue to think that switching instead of trapping is the way to do so, just look at their games. It doesn’t work. It never works. On the other hand, you guys think any post concerning GS that isn’t “OMG BEST EV4R” is hating.
funny thing is… those out of context quotes… that was your whole post. back to back. i didn’t take out a single word.
did you say green vs curry was key? apparently it wasn’t key, because it didn’t happen. curry guarded the pg.
did you say lma guarding draymond was key? apparently it wasn’t because thy got blown out and green shot 3/8.
maybe your definition of what the word “key” mean is different than mine.
i never said switching is better than trapping… i said both were bad. i said hedging is probably not a bad defense even if curry pulls up from 27, and indiana did a good job of defending pnr last game without switching or trapping.
its funny that you are still acting like you know basketball. i don’t care if you don’t think the warriors are that great. i have been faithful to a bad team for a majority of my time on this board. i don’t care if you fellate the warriors or not, and i’m not against anyone being loyal to their squad. but there’s a difference between being prideful and just being wrong.
that was a while back. but yeah, nba didn’t fine or have any repercussions for workplace sexual harassment being shown on national tv, even if it was in the fuck around sense.
now dude is beating up ballboys and we’re surprised that maybe some clippers staff don’t like him that much.
How is hedging any better when Curry has proven that he can hit from anywhere? He scored 39 on 8-15 from 3PT. How is that better than trapping, getting the ball out of his hands and forcing Draymond to create, which is more often than not going to result in a 2-pt shot if other defenders stay home.
Defending the Warriors is the same concept of the Hawks defending Orlando when they had Dwight. Let them have all the 2-point shots they want, they won’t beat you with 2s. Dwight had 40+ points in games that series and they lost. All their (GS) defensive numbers are based on teams trying to keep up with their 3-point shooting and we all know that there isn’t a team that can.
vs. the Celtics they were 9-31. They won, but Boston had game winning opportunities (last shot, game tied) at the end of regulation and the first OT.
vs. Bucks they were 6-27. They lost.
EDIT: Neither team is better that GS, I’m not saying they are.
If you look up their other losses, it’s likely they shot poorly from three. They’re also 18th in the league in points allowed. What should that tell you? It should tell you they outscore opponents rather than stopping them - and they do it w/ the 3-pointers. So explain why trapping Steph and making him give up the ball is worse than just hoping he misses from 27ft? A lot of teams do that now - and Steph ends up dropping 30+.
Trap Steph and stay home on shooters. If they get set shots, they go in. Other than Steph or Klay, there’s nobody on the roster who can come off a screen or create their own three. They’re all set shots. Stay home and them and live w/ them making twos.
Or you can just hope Steph misses. Cause that’s worked great so far.
EDIT2: I NEVER said the Warriors aren’t great. EVER. I said defensively they’re overrated. I’ve watched as many games of them I can to see what teams are doing wrong or what they’re doing right and team constantly defend their P&R like they’re not guarding someone who can shoot it from halfcourt. I’ve said in this very thread that they execute on a phenomenal level. They’re the best team in league and I’ve NEVER said otherwise. Don’t get butthurt b/c someone dares to do anything less than praise them.
the warriors are 18th in points allowed per game (102.3)… but 4th in defensive rating. per game result is because they play at a pace of 99.4 (for example, the spurs play at a pace of 94.2 possessions per game, cavs play at 92 possessions per game). but because the warriors give teams more possessions per game, those opponents are obviously going to score more points in a game.
but per 100 possessions, warriors are 4th, and on field goal percentage allowed they are 3rd, and efg% defense, they are 3rd. and compared to last year, they are less that 1 point worse over than last year in defensive rating… when they led the league in 2014-2015 in every meaningful defensive metric.
i could argue the rest of that nonsense you posted, but its all guesswork from someone who doesn’t understand basketball. once again, i don’t care if you even like the warriors, i just care that you are just repeatedly wrong.
