Yeah but Yankees can’t get the big hit with men on base. Vasquez has pitched pretty well lately but can’t get any run support, I feel like such a bad fan for hatin on him so fast lol.
Vazquez isn’t cut out for the AL…as is the case with many pitchers. I think, in the last few years, the AL has proven just how utterly dominant it is, entirely through the success rate of pitchers changing leagues. CC Sabathia and Roy Halladay went to the NL and, in their time there, went from being very, very good to being forces of nature that Dominicans fear more than hurricanes. Meanwhile, you have folks like Jake Peavy, one of the best modern NL pitchers and Javier Vazquez, who was an absolute ace in every sense of the word last year, both have an ERA over 6.
And if we want to go into isolated incidents…well…Daisuke Matsuzaka had a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Phillies, and that was part of a general “hey, AL, let’s just fucking take a huge shit right on the NL’s face” effort. Oh…and the All-Star Games.
Seriously! NL is garbage.
anyone see oswalt get tossed yesterday? dude said nothing and umpire just threw him out
glad they’re punishing the ump here even though it helped me out since i bet big on the nationals
and are you sure Vazquez isn’t godlike? I remember people in here arguing that he was as good if not better than CC Sabathia and only my boy du fuguitive backed me up that he was a lucky scrub
why is lincecum killing my fantasy squad??
suppoedly he has a blister on his throwing hand which is most likely messing things up since his control has been awful but they deny it
he’s also stopped throwing his 2 seam fastball and lost a mile off of his fastball (but the mile off was expected).
if you look at the pitch fx data he’s been not getting the same spin on the ball
combine that with not throwing the 2 seam it makes me think something is wrong with his hand whether its a blister, nail problem, or a broken finger. i bet he’ll end up on the DL sometime soon to let it heal
it’s amazing the braves have such a good record considering at one point they lost like 12 in a row
the chop will be back in the 2010 playoffs
M’s suck, but they won last night.
:woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:
oh look another phillies sweep
swept by the mets scoring 0 runs
swept by the braves
4 saves this week so far, gonna get 10 this week book it
Ken Griffey is finally retiring. It took long enough. LET THE MIKE SWEENEY ERA BEGIN.
LOLMARINERS.
/troll hat off
As basically the Michael Jordan of baseball and never connected to PEDs during a time where use was rampant he is a first ballot Hall-of-Famer for sure.
/troll hat on
As long as he doesn’t sleep during the ceremony.
imo.
The Braves are back to claim the NL east back were it belongs! Let’s go Braves!!!
Sweet Jesus, the O’s swept the Red Sox earlier in the season? For real?
I mean LOOK AT THEM. That shit is embarrassing lol.
Holy shit did anyone see what the fuck just happened? Gallaraga just got royally screwed right there.
He got trolled hard by that ump. Should be interesting to see what Selig does, which will be most likely nothing.
imo.
Instant replay is gonna happen. Can’t believe the ump missed that call. Imagine being Gallaraga right now…
^_-;
well it was against the indians so there would of been an * there anyway
and it’s just another failure from detroit. pretty sure that city is just cursed
There’s nothing to be done, MLB can’t go back and overrule blown calls in past games. Even if the actual umpire admits later that he blew the call, which he did. (Honestly, if it’s that close, why wouldn’t you just give the benefit out of the doubt to him? That’s an asshole umpire trying to troll for attention.) That’s why a perfect game is so fluke - you have to depend on your fielders not to make errors and you have to depend on the umpires not to troll you like that.
One no-hitter, two perfect games, and a 8-2/3-but-should-have-been-9-perfect-innings in one season…this is silly.
But why is it happening? Statistical fluke? or is the post-steroids era? Did roids benefit hitters more than pitchers? Or are pitchers better than they used to be?
Is it because there are teams that focus more heavily on defense than in the past?
Technically Bud Selig can overrule the call.
No steroids equal no bull shit for the batters. Also the Rays is the only team getting perfected in the AL, the rest of those no hitters and perfections is because the NL blows.
Cleveland might as well be an NL team anyway.
They can overrule a call if it is the final out of a game.
imo.
