In this season, I think probably about 80% of us will agree that, by year’s end, the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays will be three out of, at the worst, the top five teams in the AL. Obviously, though, only two of those teams, at most, will make the playoffs. I don’t like that. Thing is, we all know that every team from every other division would hate it. Most years, the only shot the Twins, Tigers, Rangers, Indians, Angels, Mariners, and ChiSox have at the playoffs is to win their division, and having to compete even more directly against the Sox, Yankees and Rays lessens their shot even more.
Should start hyping up Toronto vs Tampa Bay and start insulting their fanbases for being a) Canadian b) worthless on ESPN shows.
Toronto has a pretty good young starting rotation in Marcum, Romero, Morrow and Cecil. Baltimore might only be a couple years behind in getting one too.
johnny damon is only good when he’s a FA in our league
someone dropped him, he owned for a couple days, i pick him up, he does nothing for a month so i drop him, he owns, you pick him up, now he sucks again
also horrible move on fister. no k’s, in seattle so he’s never going to win because lol mariners
i guess he could be ok for low erra/whip but whitey is running extremely good on babip. almost as good as austin jackson is on the offensive side
marcums good but i’m not sure he will last. he’s pushing 30 and has had a bunch of injuries. i liked him a lot but he might be good trade bait this year to get some prospects.
if they could fix their bullpen and offense they will be good.
baltimore who knows, they just make horrible decisions. the only good one they made was shipping off erik bedard for half their starting team now. if they ever gget close to winning again i’m sure they’ll mess it up somehow like trading weiters for marco scutaro or something
He won’t be good for ERA/WHIP in the long run. He’s a sinkerballer who has to pitch to contact running with a .218 BABIP who can barely get to 4 K/9 I’d avoid him unless you want to run with Team Pelfrey, Fister, Leake, Carmona, Wang, and Webb.
edit: actually no CKA, he’ll be shit for ERA. xFIP this year of ~4.00
We just need a big bat. We don’t suck, and our pitching has been good. Our bats just can’t hit shit. Well we can hit singles and that is about it. The entire middle of the lineup 4-9 can’t do anything.
Orioles have some pitching talent coming up, but it’s still iffy at best, but Matusz looks like the real deal, and Tillman will at least be serviceable by the looks of it. Arietta, Britton, Erbe, Bergesen and david hernandez? we’ll see.
Reimold, Wieters, Adam Jones, and markakis isn’t enough offense.
he’s very similar to a jamie moyer type pitcher, no fastball, lot of contact, and very good control. except he’s just running really well due to a combination of extreme luck, mariners defense (which isn’t as great as 09 but it’s still top 5) and the parks he’s pitched in
They’re doing what the red sox were doing this year, except they forgot that the red sox still have people who can hit, and the mariners have an over-the-hill ken griffey jr., a really depressed angry milton bradley, and chone figgins and whoever their third outfielder is because god knows i can’t remember who it is.
