Official 2010 MLB season/fantasy baseball thread

So yeah…

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-alignment042010

In this season, I think probably about 80% of us will agree that, by year’s end, the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays will be three out of, at the worst, the top five teams in the AL. Obviously, though, only two of those teams, at most, will make the playoffs. I don’t like that. Thing is, we all know that every team from every other division would hate it. Most years, the only shot the Twins, Tigers, Rangers, Indians, Angels, Mariners, and ChiSox have at the playoffs is to win their division, and having to compete even more directly against the Sox, Yankees and Rays lessens their shot even more.

But still, it would be nice to see.

But then how will ESPN air 19 Red Sox vs Yankees games a year and hype them all up if there’s no divisions???

Should start hyping up Toronto vs Tampa Bay and start insulting their fanbases for being a) Canadian b) worthless on ESPN shows.

Toronto has a pretty good young starting rotation in Marcum, Romero, Morrow and Cecil. Baltimore might only be a couple years behind in getting one too.

M’s continue to stink it up. This is downright depressing.

Only bright side is well it’s sunny today in Seattle.

johnny damon is only good when he’s a FA in our league

someone dropped him, he owned for a couple days, i pick him up, he does nothing for a month so i drop him, he owns, you pick him up, now he sucks again

also horrible move on fister. no k’s, in seattle so he’s never going to win because lol mariners

i guess he could be ok for low erra/whip but whitey is running extremely good on babip. almost as good as austin jackson is on the offensive side

marcums good but i’m not sure he will last. he’s pushing 30 and has had a bunch of injuries. i liked him a lot but he might be good trade bait this year to get some prospects.

if they could fix their bullpen and offense they will be good.

baltimore who knows, they just make horrible decisions. the only good one they made was shipping off erik bedard for half their starting team now. if they ever gget close to winning again i’m sure they’ll mess it up somehow like trading weiters for marco scutaro or something

Shut up you ass hat. At least he give you a low ERA.

He won’t be good for ERA/WHIP in the long run. He’s a sinkerballer who has to pitch to contact running with a .218 BABIP who can barely get to 4 K/9 I’d avoid him unless you want to run with Team Pelfrey, Fister, Leake, Carmona, Wang, and Webb.

edit: actually no CKA, he’ll be shit for ERA. xFIP this year of ~4.00

Series against the Angels. Battle of last place.

  • sigh *

I guess, if there’s anything we CAN win this season.

I can’t hear you. What’s that? Sorry…

We just need a big bat. We don’t suck, and our pitching has been good. Our bats just can’t hit shit. Well we can hit singles and that is about it. The entire middle of the lineup 4-9 can’t do anything.

Toronto’s best move was firing JP Ricciardi.

Orioles have some pitching talent coming up, but it’s still iffy at best, but Matusz looks like the real deal, and Tillman will at least be serviceable by the looks of it. Arietta, Britton, Erbe, Bergesen and david hernandez? we’ll see.
Reimold, Wieters, Adam Jones, and markakis isn’t enough offense.

edit: DOUBLE POST

until he stops leaving 82.8% of people on bases

he’s very similar to a jamie moyer type pitcher, no fastball, lot of contact, and very good control. except he’s just running really well due to a combination of extreme luck, mariners defense (which isn’t as great as 09 but it’s still top 5) and the parks he’s pitched in

I decided to go look up the numbers. I really wish I hadn’t.

Average: .230 (29th)
Runs: 91 (29th)
Hits: 213 (28th)
Home Runs: 10 (30th)
Doubles: 44 (25th)
Triples: 5 (T - 13th)
RBI: 86 (29th)
Stolen Bases: 20 (T - 12th)
OBP: .302 (29th)
Slugging %: .321 (T - 29th)

I just refilled my drink, but dammit I need another one just for this shit.

Damn… bro. I knew it was bad, but not that bad.

well i guess tthe good thing for the mariners is they have no one to trade near the trade deadline when they are 20 games out of first

they’re not stupid enough (i hope) to trade felix, lee, or ichiro and no one else on their team is worth anything

so maybe next year will be better with your core

That’s “if” Cliff stays. Ichiro also getting older…

god dammit M’s what are you doing.

I got trolled by the last two M’s GM.

Met Bill Bavasi once guy seemed like a dick.

As for Jack Zduriencik, I’ve met him twice. I asked him “tell me why this year team going to be better?”

Both times he actually didn’t ignore me and answered me. (He is nicer than Bavasi.)

Both times I believed him.

God… fool me once shame on you fool me twice… I should just throw a drink at him next time.

They’re doing what the red sox were doing this year, except they forgot that the red sox still have people who can hit, and the mariners have an over-the-hill ken griffey jr., a really depressed angry milton bradley, and chone figgins and whoever their third outfielder is because god knows i can’t remember who it is.

Just call up Tuiasasopo already

Unfortunately you are correct.
Ichiro is the only guy that can get on base, and Franklin is the only guy that can drive him in.

I am literally just hitting the thing to see who is the best in the past 15 days according to the player rater and putting them on my team.

That is all. There is no strategy to what I am doing.
