we picked up versteeg for stalberg or whoever, and versteeg was actually playing pretty good, but he’s 24 already, so a first round pick is still better.
Keep in mind, although Philly’s pick is probably gonna be 20th overall or whatever, it sure beats waiting until the 3rd round to do ANYTHING. And I’m fairly certain we’ll have more first round picks soon enough (once we find a buyer for Kabby)

if you seriously think 2 first round picks, albeit low first round picks, aren’t going to help, you’re nuts. And keep in mind we traded away our 2 first round pics, so this kinda makes up for kessel. We just kinda moved down in the ranks for next years draft. I can live with that. The last vestiges of the JFJ days are finally gone.
People need to realize that Burke has FIVE years to work with that team before he even has to show ANY improvement. When he took over, they had fuck all. No picks, no drafts, no prospects, no players. Then Burke managed to get Kessel, Phaneuf, some damn nice goaltenders in the Monster and Optimus Reimer, and much more. People everywhere seem to think that the Leafs are magically the only team that should and SHALL be able to turn things around in one year, and if they don’t then they must be horrible horrible things.
I was gonna make a joke about the Leafs trade relating to waffles in some way, but I couldn’t think of anything.
