just realized cammy’s tiger canon strike is gone! =(
Just a small correction in the first post; you can take the Viva Pink from Finch Station to East Beaver Creek, not Leslie. Leslie is too far east.
Also I think it should be added in the first post that if you ask the boss directly, you can buy 100 tokens for $20. That’s 20 free tokens. He’ll give them to you in a small bag that doesn’t look like it holds 100 tokens, but they’re all there.
thanks, updated
Blitzman: sry we went to Tenren and when we came back you were gone =_=
I’m quitting SF4 for the Fish Game after my first night of mad profits! ($5)
The fish game is rammed every day now, I’ve never seen it so busy before and it’s been there for a while…it’s crawling with “thuggish” white people too, that’s the best part.
Thugs gotta eat too
is there a good amount of ppl on weekdays? im thinking of trying out AE on wednesday
Come later in the evening, there should be at least 3 or 4 other people by then. The weekday turnouts aren’t as good as they were unfortunately, but you should be good.
There is now a 3rd AE station at gety linked up with the other two so you can practice your links against the CPU while you wait but for the most part pretty useless so lets hope he brings in a 4th so we have 2 setups.
^^ nice but still useless like u said
Sounds like a 4th cabinet will be coming soon Good to hear.
I’ll b going tonight, see you guys there if anyone goes.
PS: I’m looking for a cheap xbox 360 stick. Preferably an SE stick, it doesn’t matter about the parts since I have Sanwa parts. My Hori SE shit out on me so I’m stuck on pad now… If anyone has a spare stick for cheap lemme know.
it’s not bad if you wanna test some stuff out before you play. makes the wait more bearable.
no one would be there around 6? i kinda live far and got school early mornings so i cant stay late
girls come over and ask “how do you do that?” when you net big wins. more gratifying than streaking in SF
friday and saturday nights are still seeing a pretty good turnout for AE. at least karhol, wilson and matt are usually there. saw a dan player streaking tonight too.
Are you fucking serious? Ok, that’s godlike, I retract any and all shit talk
True, I think 6 pm on a random weekday should be all right, I haven’t been in a while because of school though.
That was me lol ;D
SAIKYOO!!!
GG’s to everyone last night.
how do you play that fish game? i actually want to play that as much as AE lol
you aim a turret and shoot a net out to catch fish, sharks, stingrays, turtles etc. there are 5 levels of nets, each gradually increasing in size. and it costs 1 coin per level, so a level 5 net would cost 5 coins to shoot.
each catch rewards you with different amounts of tokens.
i’ve only played it a few times but as far as i can tell, there is a hitbox at regular junctions along the nets, including a “tiny” hitbox at each vertice of the net. the hurtbox for the fish (at least the smaller ones) are at the tip of their head. when you shoot the net, it deploys as a big, white wad of ejaculate and expands into a net when it makes contact with any part of any fish.
every 5 minutes, a tidal wave comes and two or three large schools of a specific type of fish travel from one end of the table to the other. this is the easiest time to net a profit but still requires some precision.
The rewards are (in tokens):
Purple/yellow fish - 1
Green/yellow fish - 2
Black/white striped fish - 4
Pufferfish - 7
Orange/white “Nemo” - 10
Barracuda - 20
Turtle - 40
Red anglerfish - 50
Stingray - 60
Shark - 100
JayWang’s Visit to Lovegety on 2011-02-05 - Log File:
- got to gety around 4:30pm but the arcade was still closed (sign says it opens at 4:30pm)
- there are about 5-7 other people either in the building or in their cars, waiting for the owner to show up so that they can get their fiend on (i was one of them, woot!)
- tried AE, it was meh? I just stuck with rog.
- i def notice the recovery on the whiffed headbutts.
- the hitbox adjustment on the far standing jab sucks.
- i couldn’t get the timing down on combo’ing off a close st MP, i think the frames are negative adv on block but plus adv on hit. shrug.
- and odd number of AE cabinets (3) doesn’t really make sense but it’s better than nothing i suppose. hopefully a 4th cab will appear soon. assuming that all 3 machines are set to “arcade mode”, then they are all linked and will pair up the winner with the next available player.
- more importantly, let’s talk about the new hype-ness being the fish game which I also tried for the first time!!! There was somebody there (sorry I didn’t get your name) who explained everything to me, which was hella helpful. Thanks again! But here is some other stuff:
Fish Game!
Some random stuff to add to AndyE’s post (which was very informative btw, thnx):
-
we watched the unit boot up when the owner was opening. it’s a pc running a chinese version of windows, incase anyone cares.
-
the table/screen/unit has 6 setups. the 2 setups closest where if you are sitting and your back would be to the front door are kinda fucked. one had the coin slot covered with taep. and the other had a stick (which was working) but felt awkward, like if it had came unscrewed off the mounting plate :S
-
all 6 people to play simultaneously (ie you don’t “take turns” deploying your nets)
-
each setup has a joystick and 2 buttons (large and small):
-
the joystick aims the cannon. it has a range of motion from 0 degrees to 180 degrees
-
the large button deploys the net from your cannon into the ocean
-
the small button toggles the level of net you wish to deploy. you cycle from 1 through 5.
-
so in summary:
- put your monies in
- select your net size (small button)
- aim the cannon (joystick)
- wait for fish, aim for the head area. deploy when ready (big button)
- one thing to be conscious of when you are playing is the number of coins you have remaining.
for example: if you are a baller and constantly use the level 5 net (5 coins!), you will be going through coins fairly quickly. if you don’t refill your coins, the game will lower you to the next available net based on the remaining coins you have. so in other words, you might be expecting to deploy a level 5 net but since you only have 3 coins left, the game will force you to use a level 3 (which is smaller!)
the weird thing is i don’t what makes the game so addicting!! maybe because of the idea of how you can spend only $1.25 and win up to $25 in 1 turn!? Anyways, I did a google seach and i found a forum for an arcade in singapore that has the same game! It pays out with tokens as well BUT you can use them to buy prizes ie ps3, ipod, etc.!!! how gdlk is that! (link is here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2910884)
At gety, it sucks that the only thing you can spend the tokens on is … feeding it back into the machines at gety!!! :S … or find the degens who will buy them off you!
I’ll upload a pic that I took a pic with my phone after I mark it up in paint to kinda give peeps a better idea who want to learn the game!!!
