Hello everyone, and greetings from all of us at QCF! For those that don’t know, we are Quarter Circle Forward (better known as QCF), the official fighting games club here at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona. We’ve grown to be a tight group, but you know what? We want to expand our horizons! We’re reaching out to you, the fighting games community, in hopes that we might attract some attention outside of the school for once. With that said, we are proud to announce…

Hello, I am the one that is running the tournament and this is the question that I wanted to here. I at this point I only have the ability to do 5.0 but if you and few people can bring PS3’s that have DR. Then, I would be more than happy to do DR the day of the tournament.
5.0 Is garbage:arazz: is there any way you could tell me how many people on your part are going to participate in TEKKEN… if there are enough peeps i can probly get a PS3 but that depends on how many people are gonna show to play tekken. i got a couple people who would really be interested in playing new blood so if you could give me a heads up i would appreciate it
edit: is the tournament going to be held @ a school or someones house?
So far, not including you and any people you might bring, we’re expecting maybe 10-12 players for Tekken 5. I can guarantee a larger turnout if you and/or anyone else would be willing to help out by bringing PS3s equipped with DR. I personally won’t be entering the Tekken 5 tourney unless we can get together enough DR machines because I’m interested in playing Lili more regularly.
To answer both of you, it’s going to be at a two-story house. So far, all standard rounds will be played on standard TVs, while the finals for each tourney will be played on a 32" Widescreen HDTV. There will most likely be areas devoted to socializing/chilling out, and as previously mentioned, there will be refreshments for everyone.
you know what i just realized:sweat: there is going to be big controller issues if we play on a ps3 i know there are people who use there own personal controllers and sticks for preference and it wouldnt work unless people have coverters for there controls… this really sucks hardcore:wasted:
a couple of my freinds discussed this and came to a conlusion that ps3 wouldnt work im sorry no T5DR:crybaby:
If I understand your concern correctly, controllers should not be an issue at all. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection has been tested as working 100% with all popular PS2 controllers and arcade sticks via a converter (i.e. Pelican’s PS2/PS3 Converter), and registering new SIXAXIS controllers or PS3 arcade sticks on any of the systems shouldn’t be a problem either. If necessary, we can probably work something out to have converters available for those who require them. I imagine some, if not most, will already have their own, but we’ll do our best to accommodate those that don’t. ^^
Thanks for offering your support! Any help is always appreciated. I’ll keep you updated via PMs in regards to how the PS3 situation will go and whether or not to bring your converter. Again, thanks a lot for offering to help us out. ^^
not to sound picky or anything but HDTVs have noticeable amounts of lag. surely you’ve seen the thread in the tech talk forum about this. I would just stick with having the tourny on 1 type of TV, rather than make people adjust the input timing right on the fly during the final round. Robb had this problem at one of the past devestations.
Thanks for the input; you pose a very good point. I’ll talk it over with the guys to see if the HDTV in question will pose problems, and if so we’ll eliminate the use of it in favor of standard TVs all around. I’ll keep you guys posted.
There simply aren’t enough serious marvel players at the school. There’s me, and like 1 to 2 other guys who play marvel seriously. We have no idea how many people outside of the school we’ll get to play marvel for this tourney so to be safe it is not on the list.
If there was more of a notice I sure there could have more outside players, that PnT tourny would have had a lot more people if they would have said that all characters were playable it was a big turn-off when they said Sentinel was banned. But it ended up being a vote to use Sentinel.
Ugh I want to go but I don’t get off work until 3:30… I don’t think I plan on playing anything besides GG or 3S anyways. Is it possible to register later?
