On October 24&25 2015, the 19th Avenue Exhibition Center will open its doors to welcome the fighting game community’s 2nd Defend The North (DTN2015), a major fighting game tournament.
New York City consists of a diverse gaming community that has grown substantially over the previous years. As you may know, New York City is a tourist attraction and we believe that it can be a great destination for gamers who travel to these tournaments year round. DTN2015 will provide a venue that will advertise to players and spectators of all levels.
Both players and spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy competitive fighting gameplay as well as additional events that will occur simultaneously. They will also enjoy the opportunity to play and watch the best of the East Coast as we try to defend our home court. New and upcoming fighting game enthusiasts will get the opportunity to enjoy our DTN after party, Costume play contest, speed tournaments, Vendor attractions and “FGC Dojo” (a class/tutor session dedicated to helping players of all levels become better players), which will provide free hourly sessions for the community to learn new and vintage games from top players in the community.

----------TOURNAMENT GAMES----------
General rules during tourney play:
- Game breaking glitches are banned.
- Wireless controllers are not allowed (for xbox360 batteries/battery pack must be removed)
- Turbo button features are NOT allowed.
- Pausing a game will result in forfeit of that round unless the opponent chooses to waive this option.
- Tournament is double elimination.
- Blind pick is available by request.
- Prizes will be awarded respectively unless an additional pot bonus has been announced.
Each game is $10 per game to participate
Ultra Street Fighter 4:
- Will be played on XBOX 360
- 2/3 Rounds 99 sec
- 2/3 Matches , 3/5 for all top 8 Finals.
- Winner keeps same character, Loser May pick a different character
- Winner may change Ultra but must choose before Opponent picks their Ultra.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3:
- Will be played on XBOX 360
- 3 out of 5 games for a match set in pools and semis
- Grand finals/losers and Winners will also consist of 3 out of 5 games.
- After a game has concluded, winner must stick with same team and order for the next game.
- Loser has option of switching team and order and also taking player side of choice.
Killer Instinct:
- Will be played on Xbox One
- Each match is 2/3 with the exception of W/L/G which will be 3/5
-Winners must keep their original character. Losers are allowed to switch.
Smash Brothers Melee:
-Will Be played on Game Cube
-Items are set to off.
-Stock and Time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes respectively.
-The Tournament Host is the arbiter of all disputes.
-Double Blind Picks: the first character selection of a set must be without prior knowledge of the opponent’s character selection for both players.
-Dave’s Stupid Rule: A player may not counter pick the stage they most recently won on.
-No bans in a best-of-5 set.
-Gentleman’s Clause: any stage may be played on so long as both players and the Tournament Host agree to it, including banned stages.
-Wobbling is LEGAL (even for people not named Boback)
-Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, replay that match. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.
-Stages: Stage lists will be available at Northwest Majors
Smash Brothers Wii U
-Will be played one Wii U
-Game Settings: 2 Stock, 6 Minute Time Limit, Items Off, Equipment Off, 2/3 Games
-Amiibo’s are banned.
-Order of events: Pick characters, then stage striking, then custom move selection.
-Custom moves are allowed. See the document for allowed sets at the tournament.

-Available Stages:: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Lylat Cruise, Town & City, Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Duck Hunt, Halberd
-All Omega stages are banned.
-First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1(1)-P2(2)-P1(2)-P2(2)-P1(1) order.
-Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
-You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.
-You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.
-Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.
-There will be no loading anything on to the consoles from a Nintendo portable gaming system.
Allowed controllers: WiiU Pro Controller & GameCube Controller.
Guilty Gear Xrd
-WIll be played on PS3
-Game Settings: Versus Mode, 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games
If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.
Mortal Kombat X
-Will be played on TBA
-Game Settings: Versus Mode, 99 Seconds, 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games, No Handicap
-2 out of 3 games for preliminaries.
-3 out of 5 games for winners, losers, and grand finals.
-Winner cannot change character or variation
-Loser can change character
-No game breaking exploits, bugs, or anything that causes the system to crash
-Spectral Ermac banned until further notice
-Stage Select: Both players pick random.
