I had this thread originally posted in the Canada section but I figured some of the guys from the pacific northwest area might be interested as well… :slight_smile: So here it is.

With one of the largest major tournanments in Canada coming up in a month, the guys at VSB are present you with this excellent oppertunity to GET YOU THERE!

That’s right, the winner of the main event (SSF4AE Singles) is going to win a free flight ticket to Canada Cup in Calgary!!

PLEASE NOTE CCG|Air WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING IN THE MAIN EVENT, FOR HE ALREADY IS A CCG SPONSORED PLAYER AND WILL BE FLYING TO CANADACUP UNDER SPONSORSHIP ANYWAYS.

Format:
Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, on XBOX360 only.

Joysticks/Controllers:
Please supply your own joysticks or controllers, or have someone who is ready to lend you theirs at the venue. :slight_smile:

Date and Pre-Registration Cut Off:
Tournament Date - Oct 22th, 2011
Pre-Reg Cut Off Date - Oct 18th, 2011 (4 days before the tourny)
For those who are unfamiliar with pre-regs, you just simply need to leave a message on the wall of the event page (here), or email us at vanstreetbattle@gmail.com. Once we get back to you with a pre-reg # (which you need to have on the day of the tournament), then you’re pre-registered.

Location and Venue Fees:
The event will be held at E-Spot Billiards & Arcades, 7951 Alderbridge Way
Richmond, BC V6X 2A4.
Venue Fee: $15 (or $10 if you Pre-register with us)

Main Tournament:
SSF4AE Singles
Entry Fee: $10 (instead of going towards the pot, it goes towards the flight ticket and other prizes for Top3)
Best 2 out of 3, Double Elimination

Side Tournament:
SSF4AE Teams (3vs3)
Entry Fee: $15/Team
Double Elimination, Standard Payout to Top 3 Teams
Schedule:
Registration: 12:30pm - 1:45pm
SSF4:AE Teams: 1:45pm - approx 4:30pm
SSF4:AE Singles (Main Event) - approx 5pm - Finish

Bonus Prize:
Wei’ll be giving away a Vip pass for Canada Cup to the Winner of SSF4AE Singles for the Canada Cup 2011 (free food and drink all weekend, along with other VIP’ish things). Also, winner of SSF4AE will play for qualifers for the 5 vs 5 Team Canada.

Live Streaming:
Live Streaming will be provided by Canadian Joysticks and they will be on site for all of your joystick needs as well. :slight_smile:

I need to grab my advanced driver’s license. TBH, $15 for the venue fee is a little steep considering the entry fee for singles is $10 and doesn’t even all go to the pot.

I think I’ll go, and I’m willing to bring my team with me and sponsor the team.

My team would consist of amazing players who don’t mind practicing a lot. I’ve leveled up quite a bit since EVO, and the last Salty Runback. I’ve learned how to practice and would like to play with extremely competitive players.

$25 isn’t a lot for a tournament, but he’s saying that 40% of everyone’s entry is going toward a plane ticket, then the remainder goes to 2nd and 3rd.

Who’s to say the ticket doesn’t just consume all of the prizepot and then2nd/3rd get a tooney and a looney?

our tournaments are always 10 dollars venue and we average 60+ people.

van to calgary is 1 hour flight (and probably cheaper from seattle… stupid airlines).

plus these tournaments have been running monthly for a while.

Just a 5 min search on Kayak found an average of about $487 for a round-trip to YYC from SEA. How are the prices looking from Vancouver - YYC?

Another quick question, in the off-chance that an American wins the AE tourney, does that mean he will become an honorary canuck if said player is to compete for a 5v5 spot? That would be pretty fun to combine the lovely poutine with our Double-Quarter pounder with cheese style.

I’ll be coming up for this. There are a couple of others who have expressed interest, but I’ll let them post for themselves.

I was also wondering if we could do some promotion for Northwest Majors 3 while we’re up there? It would be great to have the BC people come down. Maybe even show a promo on the stream? Let me know!

I’m down to attending this; but transportation will be an issue for me. Will people be carpooling for this? I can contribute gas money and whatever else for a spot.
