[Oct 22, 2011] Iowa Monthly Series - MvC3, SSF4:AE, T6, MK9 (Hiawatha, IA)

Phone number to the shop: (319) 378-9663

WHAT: Tekken 6 Singles, SSF4:AE singles, MK9 singles, and MvC3 singles.

INFO ABOUT VENUE:

This is a small gaming shop. They only have a vending machine, but there is a Dairy Queen and a few gas stations only a couple blocks away, as well as a Wal-Mart and a bunch of eateries just a couple minutes away. On the plus side, it’s right off the interstate so super easy to find. The parking lot is kinda small but should be able to hold everyone. Just in case, there are other businesses and residential areas right around it that you can use.

TOURNAMENT INFO:

Tournaments start at 1 PM. I’m actually going to get there as early as possible, so feel free to come a little early for casuals and whatnot.

T6: 3/5 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then it’ll switch to 3/5 matches.
SSF4:AE: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.
MvC3: 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.
Mortal Kombat: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches until finals, then 3/5 matches.

Finals are considered to be Losers Finals, Winners Finals, and Grand Finals. Double-elimination for all.

ENTRY FEE: EF will be $5 for everything, and there is also a venue fee of $2.

RULES: For the most part, I’m not a stickler on rules for these things, but please avoid doing glitches and whatnot. I wouldn’t want to have to uppercut people for being lametards. I did want to specifically address systems, though. PS3 is going to be the standard, but we will have some XBOXs there, so please bring both an XBOX/PS3 stick just incase. For pad players and those who don’t have an XBOX stick, don’t worry, we’ll get you on a PS3. I would just like to take advantage of having XBOXs there. The more systems we can use, the more stations we can have.

Hopefully we can get back on track and get a high turnout.

This is late enough in October so I’m 90% sure I’ll drive to it. I want to still run a side event but due to the lack of PS2 sticks last time (also mine breaking) I’m not confident in running Guilty like I said I would. We can always do 3S on Xbox or PS3 though! What do you guys think?

How about Guilty Gear X2 on Xbox? I have a copy I can bring.

That quite alright

I’ll have my PS2 with me and I’ll have two PS2 sticks at the ready if you must run GG. Otherwise, you know I’ll play 3S any day of the week and twice on weekends.

Not sure yet if I’ll be at this, only because I don’t know if my wife has plans that weekend or not or if anyone else from Dubuque would wanna join. We’ll see.

I’ll say let’s leave it up to Klaige. If he says he’ll go then let’s run Guilty since last time we ran CVS2 he wanted to run Guilty the same day and we couldn’t. If he isn’t going we’ll run 3S for sure.

As usual, work and weather permitting, I’ll be there.

I’ll be at this for sure since I have that weekend off.

Probably be there, but shit might happen. I’ll be in Omaha the day before.

Olli and I SHOULD be there. Alex is a maybe. MysticBill will be in Madison.

Still only 5 people RSVP’d and one of them is the TO. Is this still happening?

Probably going to be able to make it.

Are you going to be in Cedar Rapids anyway? Or are you going from Dubuque? I’m sure Olli and I could give you a lift if it’s the latter.

Are you bringing anyone with you?

I’m going to be in Cedar Rapids anyhow, thanks for the offer though. (I’d take it if this weekend wasn’t a mess with apartment-moving)

I got 1 guy coming with me, but we are both strictly MK9 players. I’m a little worried there isnt going to be a turn out, just like last time. Maybe King Xiang can tell us if there are more coming that didnt RSVP???

I may have to break into another game…What’s more popular, MvC3 or SSF4AE?

Weird, I haven’t gotten any alerts about this thread so I didn’t know anyone had posted. Yes, this is still happening, I know there are a couple of MK players that I got coming who aren’t on SRK.

SF has bigger numbers and will likely have better longevity (plus those skills will transfer to more games), but MvC is still really big and with UMvC coming out, it’ll still be big for a while. But it all depends on what kind of game you like. MvC is more aggressive; SF is more passive/defensive.

IMPORTANT

Got some bad news: I did something to my foot last night at work. Judging from how it hurts, it’s possible I might have broken something in the middle, although it might be a really bad sprain. Regardless, it’s kept me up most of the night and is causing my ankle, calf, and knee to hurt. Needless to say, I need to stay off my feet as much as possible, which means not going anywhere and not toting setups around…

meaning I have to cancel the tourny today. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Hopefully no one from Des Moines or farther has left yet and will see this. Please let anyone know you that is coming know. I don’t want anyone to make a wasted trip.

:frowning: Sadfaces, Scott. Here’s hoping you heal up quick…foot injuries suck balls.

Dubuque has been notified. Sent a text to Blake, Murphy, and Charlie (Grog). Dunno Jackie’s number to tell her, but I’ll send her a PM.

Oh shit, that sucks Scott. I think I’m still probably going to be heading out after a bit anyways, seeing how I’m sure Billy is going to have people over at his place playing the LoL.
