Obscure Emu'd fighter roundup

All of my Faqs are on Gamefaqs. I have the combos section done, I just have to explain a few of them…I’m trying to find someone to translate the JP manual, as the FAQ on gamefaqs does not have all the moves. And after looking at the manual, some of the moves do not have any arrow motions next to them explaining what to do, they just have a small explanation? So I don’t know.
It’ll be on gamefaqs soon, I’m just finishing up my SvG Faq 1st…

Yes, that would be him. I tell you, everytime you jump, he’ll jump kick you so damn fast you can’t even react, and if you try to toss out a projectile he’ll shoot his out which is twice as fast and will cancel out yours not to mention knock you on your ass, and I’m playing the game on easy (I still have not beat him yet).

So Crayfish, do you know anything about the play machanics, or how Fight Fever 2 plays? The characters look interesting (like that big biker mama :looney:).

As for Primal Rage? a Great and well thought out fighter…but most people always complained about the control set up (which was perfectly fine, not to mention unique). There’s also a new site/message board for Primal_Rage_Domain (tho you most likely already know about it?).

Looking fwd to that, hope U have some luck in finding out those mystery moves.

Check this replay for mame 104: http://www.mog-rep.net/count/perldnload.cgi?dlfile=http://www.mog-rep.net/up_replay/kaiserkj.zip&dlname=??-JCU[ibNij&webpage=http://www.mog-rep.net/taitorep.htm

Soz, nothing more than what I linked to. This is one of the main games I would love to emulated. I just hope it plays as oldschool (sf2, FFS etc…) as it looks and isnt another dash, chaincombo homogonised rushdown fighter…

Btw there are a load of images for some of the unreleased titles like Warlocks, and the Breakers proto here: http://unibios.free.fr/xacrow/
Some are actual magazine scans, so there is a good chance some of the games were pretty complete. Unfortunately this guy has plastered his name right accross the pics…

Brace Urselves, more phantoms from the void:

Crayfish.

I go by the name DEATHSCHILD on gamefaqs. I frequent the Martial Masters board, EC-CD, Last Blade 2, 3rd Strike (tho I just look), Spectral vs Generation…

I have Shogun Warriors, and its sequal Blood Warrior is a vast improvement in all areas. Shogun Warriors came out in early 92, so that should tell you something about it.

I’m pretty close to being done with my SvG faq, so I’ll be finishing the DL one soon after.

oh my god Ive never seen that avengers game. is it brass yeah?

Soz m8, what do you mean by brass?

Btw I’d not really spoken to you on the foums before but do remember you because of your ‘BWA’ avatar. Didn’t know tho if your were actually ‘into’ Slammasters or it was just a obscure refrence for obscuritys sake. Anyway, I checked out some of your posts just now, and it turns out your a bonefide fan. Before emulation really got going Slammasters II was actually in the top two games I wanted to play (the other being Fatal Fury Special). I remember pouring over the Gamepro preview for any years. Along with Cyberbots, this was the zenith of the oldschool style of Capcom art, and combined with Tetsuo Hara’s awsome character design’s (Im prolly the biggest Hara fan in the country) and Capcom’s wonderfuly colorful fighting arenas, its still one of my favourite games aestheticaly. For me (unlike Fatal Fury Special) the gameplay really didn’t live upto my expectations, I think this could ave made a successful transition from open plan wrestling game into single pixel-line fighter, but leaving the dash in just made it horribly linnear. I still dont see why they put this fun neiche series (4p battles were crazy) into a genre so packed with thier own superior purpose made fighters?
Anyway, I still collect everything I can for this game, its just too beautiful for me to give up on despite its system. I noticed that you were very eager to see any media for this game, esp a combovid. Well in my years of collecting I’ve got some pages from my ‘all about Capcom’ refence book I can scan in for you, and I also have a very good combovideo!! I pull together everything I can and post it up here for you soon.

Crayfish.

How very timely, Primal Rage Combo Vid up at CV’s.com! http://www.combovideos.com/page.php?id=1199

Two new notable additions now playable.

The Killing Blade
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/windjammers-fans/pgm/killing_blade/killing_blade_images.html
Like many other IGS games, has a historical/mythological Chinese setting, swordplay and cartoony graphics. IGS are the Tiwanese developers behind the popular ‘Knights of Valour’ scrolling beatemups. See more of thier games here:

Fighters History
http://www.arcadeflyers.net/?page=flyerdb&subpage=flyer&id=3212&image=2
The prequel to the much loved Neo Geo classic, Fighters History Dynamite/ Karnov’s Revenge. This has its origonal 6 button system, topped the Japanese arcade charts upon its release and was the game that prompted the famous Capcom vs Data East ‘copyright infringment’ court battle.

"The court concluded that… …two special moves were similar, but not virtually identical, those being Jean?s ?needle shower? and Matlock?s ?dancing head press? which were similar to E. Honda?s ?100 hand slap? and Chun Li?s ?head stomp? respectively"
Lol, just imagine the scene in the courtroom!

Crayfish.

I think you all forgot about Eternal Champions. That shit was serious, especially back in the day. It’s still serious now.

What’s this about a rebellion?

While EC was good at best?! EC-CD was Awesome! I’m like the only one in MN who plays it still!

Primal Rage wasn’t a bad game. It had some zoning, SF-like combos, etc.

Martial Champions was just terrible. The characters had horrible art and the sound effects were so loud and bad I was embarrassed to play it.

Great thread

imho Primal Rage is not so good, it seems nice but is very unplayble
it’s ‘da shit’ I think :bgrin:

Now I wanna play at this ‘Outlaws of the Lost Dinasty’, it’s pretty cool
There are Mizoguchi in it too

Mizoguchi is only in the PS version of OotLD, and in the Saturn sequal Fuun Saiki. And you do not want to play the JP Saturn version, as it suffers from a slow motion plague.

Martial Champions was pretty bad.

Killing Blade is OK. I have it, it has good control and awesome combos, with a few decent character designs, but its not Martial Masters.

I’m looking to see if any company has that Fight Fever 2, its got my attention now, even if it is not the greatest. I sorta collect 2d fighting games, from the awesome to the stupid ones.

So Crayfish.

That Fight Fever 2, The Eye of the Typhoon, do you know if the game was actually finished?

Yes its certainly an intruiging game. I’ve done some more digging around. Seems that the game was shown at the 96 AOU show. Besides the manual there is also a flyer, which can be sen n this thread. The flyer is actualy for a PC version of the game, and the writer even found a small pic of the CD cover.

For what its worth, here is the Arcae History entry:
http://www.arcade-history.com/index.php?page=detail&id=4309

All of this seems to point to the game actually being complete, or very near to it. We can only hope that whomever owns the prototype will dump the roms. Fingers crossed.

Crayfish.

Some posts seem to have been deleted during forum downtime…

People often wondered why Capcom sued Data East over Fighters History when there were so many other plagiarists out there? Well after getting to play FH, I think I’ve figured it out. See they could just about tolerate the rip off characters, special moves and 6button control system, but it was the randon rock on the floor that really pushed them over the edge:

Crayfish.

Very nice find! I know that would push me over the edge!:looney:

Some companies are just NAIVE. That would be like Henry Ford Suing all the other Auto makers who used an assembly line? Go figure.

Rage of the Dragons gets love from me.

No list of obscure fighters is complete without mentioning Astra Superstars.
