Obscure Emu'd fighter roundup

can you help me out SRK?

after reading this excellent article about Darkstalkers animation: http://art-eater.com/2010/07/test-1-darkstalkers/
at the end of it i saw those animated pictures of Pyron… those triggered a really quick flashback of a childhood memory: i used to play a fighting game with a similar burning character around 1994-95, but it’s too faint of a memory to remember what it was or what to search for exactly.

the only things that i know about this fighting game:

  • it had a burning character similar to Pyron (as i mentioned)
  • game was not on consoles, i played it most likely on PC (but there’s a small chance it was an arcade title too)
  • my general impression of this game theme was not anything anime-like, it was more western (maybe like a SF2 clone)

if i could see a screenshot or video of this game i’d recognize it instantly!

was waiting for this thread to come alive after the “popular FG” thread.

Cinder from Killer Instinct maybe?

nope, not Killer Instinct. KI is not obscure

can you lay down more specifics? any detail you dont think anyone can catch on to?I’m sure the game is common

If you’re going to use various sprites from other fighting games, at least put more effect into making them unrecognizable. Dragon’s sprite was hardly altered, and who can miss Jack Turner, Young Geese, Tung, FFS Ryo, and a bunch of others.

Ah yeah…Martial Masters is awesome. Wish I could download this on PSN. The ROM I have works for the most part, but is a little buggy.

MAMEDev has dumped the “latest revision” of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (990927).

Funny thing is that the revision was pretty rare even in Japan and no console versions of the game was based on this. I don’t know if the changes were so important like Third Strike revisions, but sure someone will try to find out (or maybe is already documented and i don’t know).

Most likely gets rid of access to the development menu, and some bug fixes.

And yeah its a rare version.

Well, it seems that your wish may soon become true. Neo Conception International (who have recently released two Neo Geo prototypes, Bang Bang Busters and Treasure of the Caribbean) have bought out the Warlocks of the Fates proto cart and will finish and release the game in the following months.

So, that leaves the following games/protos on my watchlist yet to be found/dumped/emulated: Deadly Sport (from around 1994) and Ken-Ju (from around 2005), both from Sammy. Sammy really wants to cancel stuff, don’t they?

Praise be G_D. If you build it they shall come. Top of my list is Capcom Fighting All Stars (Capcom still has it unfinished) Mark of The Wolves Special (SNKP have it, it has Mr. Karate in it among other additions).

Warlocks of the Fates was 3rd on my list. Good work NCI, thanks for the passion.

You sure its not feldon from galaxy fight?
ah i had a check myself felden aint on fire ; (

The only burning character other than Pyron that I can instantly think of is Burnie from Alien Challenge. Here’s a video:

The game is Body Blows Galactic/Ultimate Body Blows for PC and Amiga, it had a flaming character in it.

Cool! Do you know if they have said anything about that unreleased pinball game also? The one that has the Greek mythological theme.

After 14 years, the Primal Rage 2 board surfaces:

Wow…
Dump it! Dump it now!

I love Groove on Fight just because of the body tossing. Shit’s cool as hell.

Surprised nobody mentioned the arcade version of Rise of the Robots got dumped and emulation is work in progress on Mame.

“Watch this and learn” it is a bad game that shouldn’t even come to consoles.
