^That’s the first fighting game I’ve heard cursing in. Unless she’s saying “sucker” instead. I can’t tell.

Although it hasn’t been emulated yet I found some rare footage of the 1994 arcade fighting game Alien Challenge by IGS and thought it might interest people. The game reminds me a lot of World Heroes.

Here’s a move list and some nice scans at the top of the page:

Also here are a couple of really nice combo videos for The Killing Blade by IGS. I’m a big fan of this game but unfortunately it’s practically impossible to find anyone interested in playing this online.
Anyone know if Buriki One is being emulated yet? I know there’s files out, but the game’s still unplayable last time I checked
Hyper Neo Geo 64 emulation is almost nonexistent and it seems that this is gonna be forever, im waiting for HNG emulation since the end of the nineties.
From what I tried last time on HNG64 emulation:
Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is playable; no sound; fireballs are invisible but most of other special move effects are here. I beated it several times already.
Buriki One displays most of graphics, controls do not work, character texture palettes display incorrect colors.
Both 3D Samurai Shodown games show only beginning of intros, with incorrect color palettes on everything, and controls do not work as well.
(of course this means that I have “files” of all those games, some of those were pretty hard to find though)
In what emulator do you play HNG64? MAME?.
I always heard that all the games were totally unplayable…
I’ve been searching for that game for over two years! I’ve never seen actual footage until now. This game is in MAME under it’s chinese name “Huang Fei Hong”. The graphics roms are missing, and when they redump it (a guy named f205v on mameitalia says he has a pcb), they will probably include it in mame under the alias aliencha, with Huang Fei Hong (mame alias hfh) being it’s clone.
HNG64 is emulated in MAME.
-Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is playable but has no sound, and lacks some minor graphical effects (like you cant see Mai’s fan when she throws it, but you can see fire effects from her flame dance). Its possible to beat that game, also there are 2 hidden chars I never managed to unlock because it was too tedious to beat game with everyone for that.
-Buriki One is unplayable (doesnt reacts to controls) but you can look whole intro which uses graphics from game, and all textures except those on fighters themselves have correct palettes, you can see models, how they fight each other, etc.
-Both Samurai Shodown games are unplayable (dont react to controls) and have wrong palettes everywhere. They hang after intros.
-I dont know about emulation status of non-fighting HNG64 games, wasnt interested in them
At least there’s progress. Like everyone else, I’d really like to try Buriki One and the 3D Samshos.
Eternal Champions(Sega cd) is my favorite of the “obscure” bunch. Amazing fatalities that made mortal kombat look bad, great graphics and a guilty gear type of soundtrack that beats pretty much everything else in the genre.
Daraku Tenshi is pretty fun, even if I have no idea what I’m doing most of the time.
I like Yuiran’s leg breaking move!!!
Some Alien Challenge footage up:

This was IGS’s (of Knights of Valour & Martial Masters Fame) first game.
Next up, a wonderful clip from an Arcadia DVD where a top player is put against the toughest Boss in Fighting Game History, ‘General’ from Kaiser Knuckle:

Then Game41 come thru with the obscure goods again, with a mini tourney for KK sequel DanKuGa!!:
Finaly, out of the blue, a PC version of ‘Eye of Typhoon’ has surfaced!!!

Massive thanks to Merlin196 for the heads up!
Even though you have to charge for that move, hands down it’s probably the best throw in the game.
oh shit. I use to play Martial Champions when I was like…4 in a bowling alley. Or rather “tried”. It was a lean back screen ala pac-man so I couldn’t really play it due to being too short.
I’ve been wondering for years the name of it but never knew/remembered.
Yin, if you find this please report:
Wow, that looks awesome :lovin:
I found it now, but I can’t play around with it. Maybe in a few days if I’ve got time.
WOW, great post! So after over a decade I finally get to see Eye of Typhoon match play that features Natasha, the most intriguing character design in the game!
I’ve seen scans of the Neo Geo design work- apparently she had a move that made her EVEN BIGGER!
That Kaiser Knuckle video was top stuff too, great idea by Arcadia. General was definitely the cheapest boss I’ve played, along with some KOF ones.
Thanks Crayfish, keep it up!
Dunno if this has been posted yet, but it’s a really good site in Japanese with a lot of detail, links and images on a whole bunch of obscure cult games:

Has most of what is mentioned in the OP, and a lot more. Pretty much every fighting game that was JAP made and fell under the radar is here, well worth checking out. APologies again if this is an old/repeat link.
I actually have an infinite with Edy on that game.
I own a working arcade board for Martial Champion. I have made a supergunish setup to play arcade boards on my RGB monitor (it doesn’t need a video encoder…), but I don’t have a control setup for it yet, so I can only watch the attract sequences so far.
But the game looks pretty fun, and actually the CPU does some decent looking rushdown in the attract mode…French dude with electro 'chuks is hecka good.
