OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

I didn’t actually participate in the tournament (it was either that or eat) but I was doing fairly well in casuals. I lost most of my matches, but I put up a good fight everytime. Biggest problem with my team was if I lost my point early on (Nem), it was extremely difficult to pick up the pieces with PW and Hawkeye alone, and most of the time just ended up relying on XF3 Hawk, but I’ve been trying out some new interchangeable Wright teams where he is in a good position on point or anchor, so that could help me a lot.

Yeah, I was the one to discover that.

By the way, I know this is mad late but I was at Apex for Brawl and Marvel. Using my PW/Hulk/Doom team (which is finally starting to show some synergy now), I managed to win a few matches in the tournament. I think I placed like 25th or something, which is not bad for what wasn’t really a “main” team back then.

I’ve been thinking about PW/Hulk/Doom. I’ve always thought the best 2 assists for Wright is one to help get people off of him, and one to help lock down, and Hulk and Doom are probably the best at that. Hulk’s AA assist for getting people off, and Doom Missile for lockdown.

Yup, they really help each other out. Hulk can still easily combo off his nerfed Gamma Tornado M command grab using PW’s Missile assist (not to mention the unblockable set-ups), and Hidden Missiles can allow Hulk to link two Gamma Crushes together and help him approach. It’s also good that everyone on the team has high health as well.

Ok, well for all of you that wanted frame data for wright. Here it is, I typed up everything from the guide.

I would of got it here sooner, but I had to wait for my account to be activated.

Oh, I want to mention something that works for me. If you have a good defensive assist and are starting out as PW in a match, make sure that you are always walking toward your opponent before the fight starts. You opponent will most likely be walking towards you as well. Then try to predict if they’re gonna jump or not and go for a throw while timing the defensive assist just a bit after you press the H.

-If you miss the throw, the assist will cover your recovery on your H and you can call in Maya for protection.
-If you land the throw, then do whatever you want; you’ll still have access to both of your assists since you can’t call them during a throw (which is why I said to press the assist button a little bit after you press H).
-If you and your opponent tech the throw, then you assist will cover the tech away allowing you to set-up Maya or something.

It’s a great option select that allows you to always get breathing room at the start of a match. Just make sure not to get thrown yourself (try to go for the least threatening throw the other character may have, like Wesker’s ground-throw). It works for me and Hulk, which is great since his super-armor can cover some other options the opponent may have, like assist calls.

BLESS

Not sure if anyone said anything about this but the stun from Hold It/Objection hits even if they block it, at least in training mode. What I mean is if the opponent blocks 3 hold its in a row but is then hit by the last one he will still go into a stun state. Also if you pause the game on the hit when it’s going to stun but they block it, you get the dizzy noise looped while its paused.

Hey guys! So I’m interested in getting this game and have in fact already played it a lot at my friend’s house.

I’ve decided my main team will be Amaterasu/Phoenix/Frank West, with Phoenix being my main for the most part. Any comments or suggestions on my team?

Oh, and I know about Phoenix’s less than stellar reputation, but I don’t mind having a pretty hard character to use effectively. Imo I’ll rather be something unique than the dozens of Weskers, Dantes, or Vergils around. It’s an uphill battle, but that’s how most court cases for Nick go, eh?

Don’t put Frank last. He’s a terrible anchor at level 1. Put Ammy last instead.

As for who should be on point… not sure, really. PW does benefit a lot from Frank’s assist, though.

I used to run this team and honestly just about anyone fits in point. Ammy and Frank both can get a good amount of meter and can DHC into Wright, and they’re assists both help out Wright on point. However, PW on point and Ammy second is extremely valuable as with two meters you do a TAC to get about 4-5 evidence, since Ammy’s super lasts so long. It’ll also do decent damage, since people always pushing buttons when going after PW. You don’t necessarily have to do PW/Ammy/FW though. Sometimes I would run FW/Ammy/PW, do a combo with him to level him up/build some meter, then swap to PW and get ready to do a TAC.

Ah, thanks for the advice! Yes I’ve noticed Ammy’s and Frank’s assist’s are good keepaways for Phoenix.

I can’t wait to get this game and practice my butt of with Phoenix/Ammy/FW, I will make it work!

Never put FW in anchor position.

Hey great showing at the ArcadeUFO Poltergust, who took the tournament with Wright O:

Congratulations Poltergust! Great show of what Wright can do.:clapdos:

Too bad you didn’t get to show them some fancy Wright combos, though. That would have made the stream even more hype, if that’s possible.

Yeah his Wright could def’ be a little more stylish on the offense, but otherwise mad props to his defensive play in IM. Even with all those strings of crap evidence he still managed to pull through each time lol.

Yeah those pieces of evidence where really stingy >___<. Specially in the last batch of matches. The bastards…

Haha, yeah. But my team works so well in defense that I can still get many opportunities to gather evidence.

I’m just so shocked that I won. I never expected to place 1st using my team! =D

Not sure if similar stuff has already been posted. i don’t keep track of the pw forum. anyway though it would be nice to link the japs .
They been dhc into may super when a opponent dies because u get free evidence till the super finishes. pretty cool.
