I’ve been having success with Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist to create space for Nick.
If he’s part of your team, it can help out a lot.
Vergil can be hit during this assist, though. Use it carefully and shield yourself if you have time.
I never thought of using the Vergil assist while having Maya shield on the field. Good strategy I’m gonna give it a try in some matches after school.
Be very selective. The rapid slash won’t hit them if they’re too close, but too far away and they’ll jump over it easily.
My suggestion is using it after an advancing guard.

I’ve just got to say playing as Phoenix Wright is the funnest fucking thing ever. I’m so pumped to play this game today just to play as him alone. I was in a lobby last night for over four hours reppin him everytime, and he creates the most hype matches ever. When you hit that Objection everything changes, it’s amazing.
I’m losing more than I usually did trying to figure out every part of his unorthodox (and fucking awesome) design, although I’m still having some pretty solid success, but god damn it I’m having more fun playing him than I’ve had the entire time playing MvC3.
I’m confident he is capable though, and yeh you for sure need to build a team around him. If you plan on just picking him up and running with him you are really going to be put off. I remember even seeing videos of people trying him out when he was first announced and thinking “Oh come on I could do better than that. He’s not that weird.” But he is. He really really is. But that’s what makes him so great, and anyone that loves his character and his games I couldn’t imagine not being pleased by the way he plays.
I will never stop playing Phoenix Wright do you hear me? NEVER.

not sure if this is old or not since i dont use him, buuut…PW might have some broke shit…When using his beta assist where he walks forward with the papers, he is completely invincible throughout the entire animation!!! He just completely ignores anything on screen as long as he’s out there. I tried a THC with viper/ghost/akuma…all three just got wall bounced

Thought I’d share a story. The other day I was playing online and got Wright into Turnabout Mode and had the invincible Press the Witness assist. Switched in my point and my opponent ran into it every time I called it. I win, he gets on his mic and says “You better enjoy that glitch while it last, before the patch it in two days!”
That’s right, guys. Our character is a glitch.
i can’t even play ranked without someone rushing me down in less than five seconds and beating wright to a bloody pulp…my assists do nothing for the most part and all i can do is run away and hope my assists buy me some time
I played a ranked match yesterday and got into Turnabout. I proceed to abuse Phoenix’s Beta assist. He disconnects right when I am about to beat him. I lol’d.
Dude, I can’t do anything with Wright. I just run, try to block, and die. A lot. If I somehow get to turnabout, Wright doesnt even have any scary pressure! He especially dies to teleporters. Can anyone help me out here?
Try using the Maya shield to get one evidence and then block and wait for Maya to leave. Also Turnabout is great for chip damage. As for teleports, they are unsafe so when they get behind or above you punish appropriately. Most likely with a grab or with a Hold It/Objection.
Wright is like on other character in the game, he can’t get in, he has bad normals, bad mobility, decent damage, and other stuff going against him. All Wright players need to block and be patient in order to win.
The people ussually teleport with an assist tho, and if they’re not its not above me so I can’t air throw. People also can just jump over Maya, its not that hard. I feel like this character is going to be more trouble than good and too much effort at the highest level of play… 
Maya shield outside of the corner is pretty easy to get around. Try being inside the shield to avoid damage.
it’s really hard finding a character that fits as the middle man for the team and has an assist that will protect wright without any problems most of the time
Finally I winded up getting UMVC3 much earlier than expected. Hurray!
Managed to play 30 minutes of it before having to free the TV, and I have to say, I’m glad I prepared myself for the worst because quite honestly Wright doesn’t feel nearly as awkward as I had anticipated. Of course playing as him effectively will be the real task, but I guess I’m just glad I can already feel right at home with the boy.
