Turnabout Wright isn’t needed to win. You plan to reach TB sometime during the match, but Wright can still do plenty in Inv. (with Maya) or Trial (with evidence/paper) that he doesn’t need to object ASAP.
My gameplan with Wright is to investigate, but still go for the primary goal of killing the opponents character . If someone tries to press button on shield, then I will go for the combo and try to damage my opponent. But if they’re keeping a safe distance, I’ll do anything I can to gain some evidence so I can zone with Trial Wright.
When it comes down to objecting or not objecting (“That is the question.”) It depends on my opponent, more so then with the character. It usually comes down to “Is he doing anything that allows me to raw objection?” or “Is he giving me any opportunities to hit confirm, so I can combo into objection?” If the answer to both of those is no, then I’ll repeatedly save my game and spam evidence until I get it right. But if the answer to either of those answer is yes, then I’ll go for Turnabout as soon as possible.
Hmm so I was playing around in training and thought about doing “TK” evidence searches. After a launch, hold up forward and collect two pieces of evidence or TK plink maya shield + 2x evidence. Of course this runs the risk of your opponent calling an assist and coming down on you, but you could also do cross unders, go for an air grab and combo off that, or call your own assist/have maya protect you. I messed around with Jam Session and basically doing launch > call Dante gives you enough time to collect 3 pieces of evidence then prepare yourself for your opponent coming back to the ground. I’m not sure just how useful this is since we could always go for combo extensions that will give us time to collect evidence, but this is a simple way to quickly gather 2-3 pieces of evidence.
He is talking about how you can cancel launchers into specials by adding a superjump cancel usually with a tiger knee motion. The launcher can be canceled into any special or hyper but can only be canceled on hit and can only be xfc on block or whiff. I didn’t realize plinking applies as well which is interesting since I can’t plink cancel any other attacks; I think this can lead to interesting set ups especially with doom missiles or drones.
I messed around with jam sesh a while back and found a couple ways to net evidence with it, one was similar to what phampy described. Just call dante while launching and mash on gather while holding up. The only difference is I only gather one evidence then super jump and catch them with j.:d::h:, j.:s: then land and plink out more evidence. The other way involves plinking and a dizzy and is still a little inconsistent and less practical, I mentioned it in the combo thread a little while back.
The plink evidence was just me theory crafting since I haven’t actually tested it myself. I thought of it while posting but I don’t see any reason for it to not work. I’ll go test it and confirm whether it works when I get the chance.
Edit: It works lol. Just timing and motion is kind of weird since you’re calling an assist and TKing a plink. Not too bad though
Last night I played my brother who is a Dr. Strange specialist. Wright loses to the Doctor at least 8-2. I feel so useless against him. The more this game evolves and the more Wright I play, I feel anguish I feel when playing him.
Damn. Just saw ChrisG lose 2-3 against RayRay… with Phoenix Wright/Frank West/Dante against Viper/Magneto/Sentinal. There’s hope! We just need to be able to play at ChrisG level! And, for the record, ChrisG has an ass Wright.
'Sup Guys. I know I’ve not been here for a long time, college has kept me busy…
Anyway, I discovered more “damaging” loops with XFC than just the c. :h: spam in Turnabout mode, since these loops can be done at any Level of XFC (c. :h: loop isn’t possible in Level 1 XFC, the other loops are a bit strict) I wonder if I should post it on YouTube…
I’m too lazy to do it, lol… If you guys want me to submit the evidence about that matter (pun intended) then I’ll do it right away
I doubt this would be useful but apparently even though Wright’s trial mode’s j.:h: standing :h: :d::h: says you can only do the follow up on contact. Apparently when the cellphone lasers or folder hits it counts as “contact” so you can do the follow up. For example you use the cellphone jump then press :h: and when the lasers hit press :h: again and you can do the follow up.
If you’re in Investigation and you have time and space, pick up some evidence.
If you’re in Investigation and the clock’s running down, switch to Trial.
If you’re in Trial, unless the opportunity presents itself, don’t try for Turnabout. Just mash evidence and use your gdlk hypers.
If you’re in Turnabout, mash all the fingers and evidence. Wright’s exceptional pressure usually gets you to the corner. if you can’t, use evidence (cellphone is obviously great for this).
