I’m in Emeryville just about every day now. Where do you Oakland cats play now? I spent some time trying to find the oak tree only to discover that it’s “under construction” until further notice. What’s up?
Let me know where I can find some good 3s/CVS2/Tekken comp somewhere in the East bay.
Damn I was just down there a few days ago looking around for some comp.
I’m not from the bay, i’m from Stockton, went to the other side to look for some comp.
Next time I have to go down there, i’ll pm you, maybe we could meet up somewhere and play a few rounds.
I work in Emeryville; if I get off work by about 7 (depends on how much there is to do) I tend to drop by Fairfield Tilt on a roundabout way home. I mainly play MvC2 though, these days. But they’ve got basically every other game you could ask for out there.
Isn’t Fairfield about 1 hour away from emeryville? Sucks not having a decent arcade around the area.
There is an arcade in Emeryville at the fiesta market that has 3rd strike, MVC2, and an ultracade, not to mention tekken 4 and VF4. Problem is, nobody plays there and the arcade is unkept. There would be huge opportunity for a spot there if we could entice the manager into giving a shit, but that’s just wishful thinking.
Nothing closer to the oakland area besides SFSU, eh? Guess I have to cross the bay bridge to get my game on. It would be on if the Bearcade wasn’t peaced out.
In clear traffic it’s about a half hour from Emeryville to Fairfield, give or take. That’s about what it usually takes when I go there in the 7 PM hour, anyway. It’s actually closer to Emeryville than it is to Novato by about ten minutes. I’ve been going there because it’s still probably the closest one to home that I know of that has MvC2, and I don’t have to go over a toll bridge to get there from home. (From work, it’s simply a choice of whether I go over the Carquinas or the San Rafael on my way home, which makes little difference.)
I didn’t know there was a place in Emeryville. The only arcade I’ve found in my own county is in Northgate Mall in San Rafael, which has Tekken games but no MvC2. If the arcade owner could be convinced to actually maintain a few machines though, I could be convinced in turn to start showing up there if others would. Unfortunately, low attendance and low maintenance tend to be a rather vicious cycle.
stiltman the arcades in emeryville suck hot ass. nobody plays mvc2 because sticks been broken for about 4 years now and the buttons suck. the spacing is worst than fairfield’s mvc2 cabinet. o yeah they:rofl: have the american buttons that hurt your hand after you mash.
Scrubkiller I don’t think anyone has ever complained about the sticks or even suggested that fixing them up might bring in some more customers; he probably doesn’t even know they’re fucked. I figure I can talk some shit and get things moving a bit; maybe then we can get things bumpin’ in the east bay.
I remember when Northgate had MVC2. I used to drive from SR to get my game on(got my ass kicked.)
Nobody gets together to play at their casas? Let’s get it on.
I prefer arcades over going to people’s houses. If you go to someone’s house you’re guaranteed to never have anyone other than the people there, whereas at an arcade there’s always a shot that someone else will come along to play.
I don’t even have a DC any more, although I’ve got a stick floating around somewhere.
I also live and work in Emeryville. I will play GGXX Slash, any SF2 including ST, or SFA2. I’m especially interested in Guilty Gear competition, though.
