O-S Dee Jay?

^I was testing out the o-s U2 this morning.

I did cr. LP o-s U2, and it would work. On whiff cr. LP I’d get U2, but on hit/block I’d get a cr. LP xx EX MGU which is fine cuz its safe. I could not get it to be cr. LP > cr. LP on block. Is that the same with you?

Also what is the use of o-s cr. HP as opposed to cr. MK?

depends the timing whether u get s.jab or ex mgu. either way it generally not a big deal to me. i think if u do it slightly slower u get s.jab, im not sure, but i get both, usually i get jab tho. i was using s.hp cause i figured c.mk range would hit very few backdashes if u know who it does hit feel free to post, i figure maybe ryu and fuerte it’ll hit. i use c.mk after a jump in cause the extra range from jumping allows it to hit pretty much everyone.

yeah, I o-s cr. MK off of jump ins whenver I see people trying to backdash on wakeup. Cr. HP hits so few characters though, if you do meaty cr. LP (o-s cr. HP), especially once AE comes out and everyone has better backdashes. I just use cr. HK instead, since when people backdash on wakeup they forget to block low after.

I can see o-s U2 being very useful for rufus and balrog. And I think o-s HP would be useful against DJ, fuerte, dudley, and viper cuz it shuts down some of there options, and their wakeups aren’t particularly scary.

Was the o-s fierece standing or crouching?

When I try to cross rog up sometimes his headbut whiffs(or ken’s mashed shoryu) and he falls too far to punish, will cr.lk os be helpful in this kind of situation? I want to close to gap and punish hard.

nah theres no os for fierce headbutt makin your crossup whiff. the only solution is jumping earlier or an early knee shot so that you block the headbutt. You also cant os an ex headbutt but you can step up and hit it with a s.hk. Other versions of headbut u can punish easily on reaction if they whiff.

Question - how do i set up training mode to try these OSs out? I never once, OS’d on purpose in a match, and never really incorporated them into my at all.

“Jump in :mk: (o-s cr. :mk:) > cr. :lp:”

this for instance, im not really sure how the o-s portion is done or the timing involved.

You can record the o-s with an opponent dj and defend against it yourself. The timing is pretty easy to find if you experiment. It’s just a matter of accounting for the window of delay caused by hitstun.

Couldn’t you just do that o-s by inputting j.mk, c.lp+mk? No need to worry about timing that way.
