There was another NYC thread a while back that is no more. So I thought I would start one up for casuals and such. Booty Clapper has a thread for Brooklyn fightans here
Tourneys
As many of you know; there are some very good recurring local tourneys going on; and you should go to those (I am a complete failure at attending most of them). Check out the tournaments and events forum for more info: Tournaments & Events
Tuesdays- 8 on the Break
Wednesdays- Guard Crush
Thursday- 3s weekly at CTF
If I am missing more recurring tourneys let me know and I will edit.
Casual
There are also some recurring casual SSF4 nights around. These can’t replace tourney experience; but if you want to drink beer and try out some new tricks come on out.
Tuesday- Fish Market at South Street Seaport Link here
Wednesday- ON HOLD due to monitor issues at venue.
Sunday- G.O.S. at Radio Star Link here
If there are more let me know and I will keep updated.
Occasionally I or others will host at their places; post if you are interested.
Yeah well, fish market is played on laggy hdtvs, its like playing on bad xbox connections think 2-3 bars, can’t really step up your game there, the crew is cool and the food is good tho
Havent tried teh wednesday one I will let you know if I do go all the way to astoria, but as far as I know they only got one setup.
Friday yeah ctf, super crowded, if you are trying to step your game up it won’t do you much good cause you will just get your ass kicked, if you got the money and the patience to wait then go for it, overall tho it’s arcade and NO LAG so best spot so far.
Sunday, they play on the kareoke hdtvs that even on sd mode lag pretty bad, I didn’t even go thru the trouble of arguing with the ibuki guy that brings his playstation about the lag. Point being just like in fishmarket you can’t reversal shit and the timing is all wrong for 1-2 framers, on top of that they use online tactics to take advantage of the lag, this spot show spromise but somene has to bring in a comp monitor or some crt tvs to have become a real fighting game leveling spot.
so veredict? CTF and be willing to spend lots of money if you want to improve your game…no actual serious casual in NYC
By the way there are casual sessions all over the place. No one is really going to put the info on SRK that their house is open for casuals though. If you network and make friends with people by going to tournaments & CF you would have a better chance.
I asked the BK guys about getting something going on Sundays at Gamepad. $5 a person, all day, bring your own games/console. I really don’t feel like organizing it but i can put it together if someone else would like to take it over after i get it started. Stop complaining and get the shit going. More action less words.
Yesterday I let the clock run out on character select screen AND stage select. It infuriates the opponent and makes me laugh. Please send more online tactics.
Not sure what the point of this thread is anymore. Tried to get casual sessions started but i didn’t see any interest… I’m not gonna put forth the effort if no one is gonna come.
We just talking shit in here about our casual sessions. You don’t have to put any effort into making new ones. We’re just letting you know where/when we play, so come join us if you want.
