I realize there is a real need to support new games because without new games things stagnate, but it’s SFII.

Yea, seems kinda sad that the “roots” have been thrown out… even if they were the dirty, illegitimate roots (HDR). But like everything in life, nothing is forever. In with the new, out with the old.

Tekken > A lot of other video games. And it will always be that was so long as Namco keeps on producing quality games in the future. IIRC Namco has had at least ONE game in the EVO lineup since its birth, or had a game on display that was @ EVO that was made by Namco. Same goes for Capcom too.
Really though, the HDR finals last year were lame as shit. I know Cole was high up there but just the same, they weren’t all that awesome to watch.

I was left with a huge impression about the popularity of Tekken at EVO after 2008, when I talked to one of the staff and they told me it got fewer than 100 entrants, and it may have been even fewer than 50. I realize they were still playing T5:DR then and it had been out for a long time, but I guess I still consider it on the lower end of supported games.
Just shocked about SFII not being at EVO.
My opinion on that is that because Tekken 6 took SOOOOOO long to reach consoles, T5:DR was the only thing Tekken fans in American had to play competitively. And thus, everyone was fed up with T5:DR when it should have been in the arcades in America if not on console soon. It was kind of a transitional stage for the Tekken series and most of the hype over T5:DR was over at previous EVO’s with Arrario winning with his Jack-5 the year before iirc.

the dude only played online since hdr, plays in like 2 tournaments ( last years wcw was his first, and he won) and shows up to evo and wins with Gief!
I dont think they dropped hdr and kept tekken for entry sizes, because im sure hdr will (i mean would) get more entries then say, BBCS would right? maybe a petition is the way to go
