Numbers as button notation

Can someone explain which numbers represent which buttons?

I looked around and didnt find anything, it should really be in a sticky somewhere, if it is and i missed it, sorry.

Xbox360: 1=X, 2=Y, 3=A, 4=B

Ps3: 1=Square, 2=Triangle, 3=Cross, 4=Circle

sorry but can you use the attack its associated with(punch, kick etc)?

A lot of people here probably have different setups for button configs, my X may not be your X

1=fp
2=bp
3=fk
4=bk

Why couldn’t they just hook us up with Klassic MK controls so no one would be confused???

Along those same lines, why don’t SF players like me call buttons or directions by a number??

QCF HP >> 236 3

Not only is it more logical, it makes more sense.
