I just tested the stick with a PS2 and it works fine. Must be just the crappy 3rd Earth adaptor that I have. Now if only I can find an inPIN adaptor … :wonder:

OK cool I am not going to swap anymore, I just been reading that the HFS3 isnt that great. So now will try getting a convertor that works.

Or try putting in a Sixaxxis PCB into it, cant seem to find anyone who has converted it to PS3 by putting in PCB

I got it off a Sydney guy called australianoftheyear or something like that … how about you? Recently there was a SF stick http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110353210207 that was sold - did you buy that one?

If the converter is called 3rd Earth, do not get it … they don’t really work with the SF 15th anniversary sticks. I might go and purchase the inPin ones.

I actually just missed out on that one, but the ebayer had 2 in stock, so i got the 2nd one.

yeah the inpin’s seem to be the go…would love to know where to get one!

PM the SRK user by the name of Laugh. He sells them for around $28. He’s currently out of stock though from what I read.

Any SFAC fan should read through this thread. Please also review my thread for additional pointers. It will make you the smarts. And as promised, here’s your multi-quote of doom:

It is not compatible with the stock PCB. Do not buy this unless you intend to swap the PCB with a Sony Dual Shock pad. These two adapters are supported:

This is solid advice. A PS1 pad will get you much better compatibility with adapters. It is also a must to swap the stock parts with Happ.

Get the iL 8-Way Eurojoystick. This is the stick used in the old SF cabinets:

Happ Competition Pushbutton with Horizontal Microswitch (Convex) or Happ Pushbutton with Horizontal Microswitch (Concave). I personally like Concave since they’re what was in the cabinets:

.187 Solderless Quick Connect, 18-22 AWG Red. You need about 30 of these, but get 50 or so. I’d recommend getting 100 if you plan on doing two sticks. These are expensive at Radio Shack, and you can never have enough of them:

Happ Pushbutton Wrench. This makes it much easier to remove and replace the buttons. It’s cheap and you will appreciate it the second time you do this:

Hit up the trading forum or DIY. People sell these pretty regularly.

Print out the art you want on an 11x17 page at Kinkos. It costs a whopping $2. There’s a template for it in this thread, but it’s not all that accurate. Use it as an approximation of where the buttons/stick are. If you dig through the ‘I love my custom’ thread a guy re-did it with accurate measurements. Here are a couple that I’ve done:

Those haven’t been sold in years. You have to do it yourself now. Read through this page like it’s the bible.

Don’t do that, especially if you like American sticks. The FS3 is common and cheap.

So…I have one of these 15th anniversary sticks without any plugs.

All the guts are still there but there are no connectors to plug it into either a PS2 or XBOX.

I am wondering…is there anyway to make it so it can work with my XBOX 360??

This is my first post so if this is elsewhere, I apologize. Thanks.

^ Have read through your guys thread before. Nice job breaking it down. I don’t have a SFAS but was curious as to how much the HAPP version sold for when they were available. My bro has one and it’s awesome. Besides the start and select buttons being too close to the stick, I love the look and design of these sticks more than any other stick out there because it reminds me most of what i played SF2 on as a kid.

This thread will get you going in the right direction. It shouldn’t be too bad assuming you can solder.

I really want to say they sold for $100. I could swear I’ve seen that before. Before all of the stupid SF IV madness you could get one modded with Happ parts for $100 or so. They’ve doubled since then but it should die down once the OMG SF IV wears off.

Question, is the SFAC Stick able to fit Sanwa Buttons?

Epic post by kyle nice one!

I think it is setup for HAPP parts only.

It’s supposed to be a American style arcade stick.

Thanks! Just let me know if you have any more SFAC questions. It’s my favorite stick by far. I play it damned near every day with SF, shmups and the kids on Pac-Man.

So Kyle, can you put Sanwa buttons in there or not?

so the inpin will definatly not work with stock PCB?
has any body tried the stock stick with those mentioned above converters? looking at picking up the deal extreme one, but only if it works on stock pcb.

Yes, apparently, though I’m not sure why you’d want to.

It definitely does not. The converter thread is one of my favorites (I troll it hardcore) and this has come up a few times.

The guy in the other thread was very enthusiastic about the DX converter. I got the impression from him that it works well. Someone also suggested (unrelated) getting one of those cheap Xbox-USB adapters and using that. I don’t know if they’ve personally tested this but it seems worth exploring.

Has anyone tried purchasing one of these http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/boards.shtml to get the stick or any other stick working with the PS3? Because I am not too confident on my ability to hack the ps1 pcb.

If you want ps3/pc, thats the best route right there
