I find myself wanting to work on a Jill team again, and if I feel comfortable enough with it, make it my main team ( current main team is viper / doom / strider…and I love it. characters I’m willing to use with Jill:
Viper
Akuma
Doom ( only if I absolutely have to )
Ammy ( same as with doom )
Vergil
Dorm
Hawkeye
Storm (don’t really want to because of her damage output, but her dhc is too good and whirlwind is a decent get in / mixup tool due to its push ack forcing the opponent to guess a side more ambiguously. )
Dr. Strange ( hesitant to because of the character that comes with the assist…I don’t feel confident with strange, he can be rushed down really hard)
If y’all can think of any other characters that might work ( sans Dante / sent ), I would love to hear them. Thanks y’all.
Sup guys. Ive come to a decision of sorts that I would like some help with, and If yall would be kind enough to give some input, that would be amazing. Im having a pretty hard time deciding between X23, Jill, and Felicia for my point character slot. I feel that all three characters play similarly, yet Im not sure of the exact comparison and contrasts between them, so Im coming to each of the characters respective boards to get some help. If anyone would like to take on the task and help me, I would appreciate it a ton. Im basically looking for a comparison and contrast list for the three characters. What do you feel makes ______ similar to the other 2, what do you feel said character does better, what do you feel said character struggles more with as opposed to the other two. Comparing DHC ability, their assists, THC’s, relative tech, etc would all be very helpful as well. Again, thank you to anyone willing to help me out with this and to help me make my decision.
Point character = character with a strong neutral game, good dhc, And decent mixup assist
Second slot = Jill (somersault)
Anchor = solid anchor with good lockdown / mixup assist.
Jill fairs poorly against the common point characters and has a pretty bad neutral overall…the idea is to either dhc into raven spike for a Jill, then start my mixups, or alpha counter into somersault into a reset setup. I feel Jill is too weak to start at the beginning of the match IMO at least
Pff I just can’t seem to make a decision here. Seems to be a running theme with Jill players; having trouble making a team of 3…
I really like Jill/Ammy, but the third character is just all over the place. I was thinking Jill/Sent/Ammy, or Jill/Hulk/Ammy or Jill/Mags/Ammy or Jill/Iron Man/Ammy or Jill/Dante/Ammy.
Can’t make up my mind :S. They all have pro’s and they all have con’s.
well its official between reading this forum and character love of the RE series, i wanna play Jill. Yes i know its very fanboyish but i already play Chris on my main team of Cap’n America, Chris, Strider so i figure i would make a fun team playing Chris(machine gun), Jill(arrow kick), Wesker(samurai edge). taking the time to read and learn about Jill’s inner workings. Been having a lil trouble here and there with her jump loops but so far i settled on a fairly decent bnb with her since i had one already with Chris & Wesker. I do s.M, c.M, s.H, M.Cartwheel, Somersault, JC, H, S, c.M, s.M, s.H, S, M, M, H, slight delay, S, call Wesker assist for OTG, S, M, S and then Fallen Prey or Team Cancel Hyper depending on meter and distance. not the most optimized combo but until i can consistently do her jump loop i think this is my best option. any words of wisdom on strategies with this team or mix-up potential? They DHC decently enough together pretty well considering that i can go from my Chris bnb into his Sweep Combo hyper into Raven Spike with Jill and then finish off into Maximum Wesker if meter allows. Really like seeing and using Jill the character love I have for her is what is pushing me to learn how to play her properly even though I feel like slamming my head against a brick wall trying to learn her jump loop. Hoping to get well enough with her so that I can have this team as my secondary main team along said my primary main team of Cap’n America, Chris and Strider.
Well if its a secondary team I guess it’s okay, but sucks for Chris on that team imo, he has nothing to help him on that team. Chris becomes a sitting duck, that wont be able to keep his opponents away, he also wont be able to zone effectively whatsoever. That’s the problem with using Jill/Wesker, your other character has ass assists. Unless you have a character that will be a good as a anchor and have a good assist, the team doesn’t work too well. Chris is also one of those characters you have to build a team around otherwise it wont work well.
u have a point cause wen i added chris to my main team i had to had strider too to deal wid the pesky flyers who like to stay out of chris’s reach. but as far as keeping ppl off me landmines and arrow kick assist seem to be working ok so far. so thts like the main flaw as far as i know with the team. are there any sources of information as far as wat loops to use and in wat situations or such? or even better a video explaining the loop timings?
These should help, it just takes practice with the jump loops, you want to delay the j.S input at the end to get the most stun out of it in order to go for
another rep of jumping M-M-H-S. Watch these vids, 95% of the things in these vids are still applicable. If you study some of these basics it will make you a better Jill player.
Im currently trying Jill Somersault / Storm Whirlwind / Skrull Tenderizer. I’m having a blast playing her!
I chose this team because they are mostly underused characters (except for Skrull who is on the rise but still rare online).
While playing around I found that this team works well together:
With Jill on point she can use a projectile assist and a lockdown assist. She also has DHC and Team super potential which solves her low damage.
When storm is on point she gets a lockdown and a “get off me” assist which is the best counter in the game (it gets frustrating when a counter into THC can kill a character). She also DHCs well to skrull - try a Hailstorm into inferno… HURTS!!!
It everything goes to hell and you need to bring skrull in both assists work well with him, but I use him as a lvl3 XF anchor.
I don’t think jill needs to have a whole team made for her. Just be careful not to get her killed…
IMO jill only has trouble getting through zoning with assists, but my team kills assists easely with DHC and THC.
(Actually the whole team is full of bad assists. You would have to have meter all the time, and with storm its not so certain you will have the meter when needed. Furthermore a team with a good assist would have a easier time against that team and against jill, those assists dont really help jill much either, as whirlwind is not full screen or otg capable like it was in mvc2. The rush down team is now the one getting rushed down.)
I just worry about storm if jill dies, because you’ll have to touch them with storm just to get someone to block tenderizer. But overall yeah I agree that it needs to find a lot of meter to win. I’ve used Jill/Storm and i find myself needing a lot of resets. It’s a nice strong team damage wise if you get your hits though. Just depends if you can get ur hit.
I’m currently rocking Spiderman/Jill/Doom and I have to say that I just can’t find anyone else who “fits” better than Jill with my playstyle she has this sleek mobility to her that you don’t find in other characters so um yeah thanks to all this information you guys are pouring out I love Jill ;3
She has a few quirks when it comes to getting some of the DHCs to work but its manageable.
You think this team doesn’t stand a chance? Is the only option to change team?
My favorite character is Skrull and I won’t drop him. Should I just replace storm? I don’t want any high tiers or trenchcoats on my team and doom is everywhere.
(I used to play Ryu Thor Skrull quite successfully in the past but my GF hates Ryu lol).
What assists or team order should I use to try and make my team work?
Jill/Skrull is not bad, but you just need someone on the team to help Jill out with a decent assist. Otherwise your going to have a harder time getting in with Jill when someone wants to call sentinel drones and do disrupter with magneto all day. It doesnt have to be Doom, but maybe you could consider sentinel drones for a assist since they help out both Jill/Skrull tremendously. Wolverine/Storm works out for Justin Wong because he has Akuma backing them, which is a great assist. With Fanatiq Magneto/Storm works out well cause he has Sentinel backing them both, which is his means of getting in. Chris G has Morr/Doom/Akuma which is a pain in the ass, lol. No high tiers? Skrull is pretty up there in the tier list, and Jill needs someone backing her of higher caliber in order to survive, unless you just enjoy casual play more (Skrull would fall in that category of higher caliber). You just need a good assist now, and that character must also have good synergy with Jill/Skrull. (Although I think Jill and Spiderman should be where Storm is, or at least were Haggar is imo, seeing as how Champ has no Jill or Spiderman experience.)
Jill/Skrull/Sentinel (Drones)p op, Hawkeye (Triple Arrow), Taskmaster, Ammy (Cold Star Assist), Assists like these would help out a lot.
I’m taking into consideration DHC synergy and the fact that you don’t want trench coats on your team (I wouldn’t recommend Wesker for that team anyway, lol (3 bad assists again). Although, Dante’s weasel shot is a decent assist for Jill since its fast and locks down. I would also like to add that team resident evil is hella stupid, lol. Jill/Chris/Sent or Doom would be pretty decent, but Chris has so many problems.
Let’s be real, we all know who we see in the top 3 in tourney. Were not gonna see Hsien-ko or Chris in the finals at evo in the top 5 or maybe even top 10 or 20. The question remains though, if he plays casually or competitively.
