The only way I’m familiar with is by doing 2 hits…the initial hit and the second hit being down forward then follow up with LMH but I think u can do MH too
OH DOWN FORWARD? damnit i only ever tried down haha
I always do it down but I usually have a hard time converting consistently. Apparently down-forward and down-backward recover a little faster so it’s easier to convert from.
I’ve never been able to get the MH to connect after the speed tackle, but then again I’ve never really labbed it much. The easiest way to confirm is to do st.L, st.H, S. Go into training mode for a few minutes and learn the exact timing because its a link. Also if you end the speed tackle with a diagonal tackle, it’s a little easier to confirm. St.M tends to put them slightly higher than you want so it makes it harder to confirm as well. Confirming with st.H right after remedies that.
Also, if you hit speed tackle from ANY height, doesn’t matter, you can always x-factor airdash up, and confirm with j.H, j.S. They always get put into the same place so it makes it easy to confirm.
I personally have never been able to hit confirm speed tackle with downforward, though I’ll tinker a bit next time I’m in the lab. I do straight down and mash on that L and hope it works lol.
yeah i’ve converted off of it with xfactor really easily before, it’s pretty handy at times
thanks for all the tips guys.
Just picked up Nova. How often do you guys use his diagonal air dashes?
I do it a lot by accident when I mean to do straight down. Otherwise, just for positioning Grav Pulse H or making an assist mixup more ambiguous. Any other time it’s pretty unsafe, and even if you do multiple air-dashes in flight like UF, DF, UF, DF, it’s so slow that it’s basically faster to fly normally or plink airdash backwards/forwards.
So, while working with Grav Pulse L/M, something kinda odd happened. I was trying to see how well Grav Pulse punishes Berserker Slash, so I set the computer to do a crossup with it. When I did a fully charged Grav Pulse L and XF canceled right as Wolverine crossed Nova up, the first 2 or 3 hits came out in front of Nova and the other two came out behind him as an autocorrect and actually hit Wolverine. I tried this on an ambiguous foot dive setup and it worked just as well. Got all of this on video, too.
Truthfully, I think his diagonal dashes are underutilized. His Diag.Dash DownFwd + L is pretty damn good O_O
I just tried that Grav Pulse XF autocorrect against wesker and it looks so funny lol. It works with the Lv 2 Grav Pulse as well.
I think level 1 would work as well but the range is pretty short. What I really want to see is if the H version works this way at all.
Can I see the video?
I couldn’t get it to work with the level 1 version against wesker. H pulse didn’t work for me either.
this is awesome. too bad its extremely situational so i dont see this coming into play too often. if only he had an answer for everyone’s bullshit like viper does
Very soon, I’m making a big Grav Pulse combo/confirm/punish/etc. video, I was gonna include that as a bonus. Should be done tomorrow.
Yeah, it’s more like a last minute reversal than an easy go-to tool. I have some tech for punishing teleporters w/beam assists, though… stay tuned.
so labbed with nova, messed around with a double overhead: boxdash and a preemptive j.L, delayed second j.L into ground chain, can do H loops after even midscreen and it’s really really sly. it works on people who expect your j.H and with an assist (I play nova/frank/dante or nova/spardabros)
another setup you can do is a slide + assist, but let the assist cover the complete recovery of the slide, then you’re close enough for a grab. if you’re pushblocked you can cancel into human rocket punch L, the tip of the hitbox hits them after you’re pushblocked so its safe.
idk if anyone else has messed around with that, i never checked all of the nova forums or anything.
also thank god for his magneto-esque reset, OS is godlike
Are any of Novas offense tools punishale?
How safe is slide & cr H?
cr.H is -3 on block but it pushes the enemies back a fair amount, not to mention most people pushblock nova’s strings so it’s pretty safe. I believe cr.M is -9 or -12 at point blank but the point of slides is to not use them point blank so use it from a distance and it’s pretty safe. You can even use it to set up a tick throw. Nova’s Centurion Rush moves are all unsafe, especially the heavy version, that will most definitely lead to a big punish. However, Light version is a slide as well so you can use it from a distance to be relatively safe, and this works for the Medium version too. Apparently if you hit with a very properly spaced Medium Cent. Rush on a grounded opponent, you can link a cr.L to get a full combo, but I haven’t played around with this myself. If you have assists like Drones or Taskmaster’s arrows, you can definitely play a midscreen harassing mixup game of light/medium centurion rush since one is low and the other one an overhead. But don’t get too overzealous with it.
What is Nova’s best anti air?
Is it s. L ?
Yeah. 5 frames, spammable. I’ve hit people out of low-altitude foot dives with it before.
