Having an open qualifiers event on the Friday is a great idea. In previous conversations with both Russell and Lap Chi two names from the Greater Toronto Area (and beyond) were provided based on the 2011 Tournament Season performance:
Both SpiralGuy and [YRSF]BlitzMan have consistently placed as top two local finishers in AE since its release throughout the Year. I feel that this type of performance should carry some clout in determining eligibility (YRSF involvement or not ;)). Keep in mind both will still need to compete in qualifiers for a seat on Team Canada.
I am pleased to announce that there will be additional support for this event with representation from YRSF (via Omega Collectables) as we will be assisting with expenses for several of our sponsored players so that they may participate in a number of the events taking place at CC2011.
I’d just like to say that it is so refreshing that we dont have any of the East Coast vs West Coast drama that last years Canada Cup had to deal with. It’s cool that we are all coming together to take on the world! I look forward to meeting all you east coast guys that come out!
Also lapchi, alot of TT guys are asking me if any modders are going to be there? Some guys are intrested in flying up and providing modding services (dual mods, led’s pad hacking etc…)
Unfortuneitly, this event is capped at 500 and it will sell out. There won’t be free admissions. If it knew it was going to get this big I would’ve booked at 1000 person venue, but its a bit too late.
Just a reminder everyone. Saturday is the last day to get a room at the Sheraton with the reduced rates. They’ve extended it for us once, so it may be tough to get them to do it twice.
I’m 100% for lapchi’s method for deciding the team for Canada.
MTL has the finest SF players in Canada (outside of STC) so winner definitely deserves a spot.
btw blitzman + spiral guy are both mediocre players, if these guys qualified on fri then west coast is free.
Time to come back and train hard for CC2011! You have to rep Canada for last years ROCV team Japan. I’m trying hard to get the top players from Canada to come, perhaps you can get STC here or let me know how I can help.
lol i’d love to come but i’ve been busy with school and don’t think i can take weekends off work. I haven’t played in any tournaments since CEO but I will definitely try to get some STC members to come!
